Jesus Has Risen
1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8Then they remembered his words.
9When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
On the Road to Emmaus
13Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles24:13 Or about 11 kilometers from Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16but they were kept from recognizing him.
17He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”
They stood still, their faces downcast. 18One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”
19“What things?” he asked.
“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”
25He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
28As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43and he took it and ate it in their presence.
44He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
The Ascension of Jesus
50When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

イエスは復活した
1日曜日の明け方早く、待ちかねた女たちは香油を持って墓に急ぎました。 2着いてみると、どうしたことでしょう。墓の入口をふさいであった大きな石が、わきへ転がしてありました。 3中へ入って見ると、主イエスの体は影も形もありません。 4「いったい、どうなってるのかしら。」女たちは途方にくれました。すると突然、まばゆいばかりに輝く衣をまとった人が二人、目の前に現れました。 5女たちはもう恐ろしくて、地に伏したまま顔も上げられず、わなわな震えていました。その人たちは言いました。「なぜ生きておられる方を、墓の中で捜しているのです。 6-7あの方はここにはおられません。復活なさったのです。まだガリラヤにおられたころ、何と言われましたか。メシヤは悪者たちの手に売り渡され、十字架につけられ、それから三日目に復活する、と言われたではありませんか。」 8そう言われて女たちは、はっと思いあたりました。 9そして、すぐさまエルサレムに取って返し、十一人の弟子やほかの人たちに一部始終を話しました。 10そのとき墓へ行った女たちは、マグダラのマリヤとヨハンナ、ヤコブの母マリヤ、そのほか数人でした。 11ところが、男たちには、この話がまるで物語のようで、とても現実のこととは思えません。だれも、まともに信じようとしませんでした。 12しかしペテロは、それでも一応は確認しなければと墓へ行き、身をかがめて中をのぞき込みました。すると、どうでしょう。亜麻布のほかに何も見あたりません。それで、この出来事に驚いて家に戻りました。
13この同じ日曜日のことです。二人の弟子が、エルサレムから十一キロほど離れたエマオという村へ急いでいました。 14二人が道々話し合っていたのは、イエスの死のことでした。 15そこへ突然、当のイエスが近づき、彼らと連れ立って歩き始めました。 16しかし二人には、イエスだとはわかりません。神がそうなさったのです。 17イエスが尋ねました。「何やら熱心にお話しのようですね。いったい何がそんなに問題なのですか。」すると二人は、急に顔をくもらせ、思わず足を止めました。 18クレオパというほうの弟子があきれたように、「エルサレムにいながら、先週起こった、あの恐ろしい出来事を知らないとは。そんな人は、あなたぐらいのものでしょう」と言いました。 19「どんなことでしょうか？」「ナザレ出身のイエス様のことをご存じないのですか。この方は、信じられないような奇跡を幾つもなさった預言者で、すばらしい教師でもあったのです。神からも人からも重んじられていたのですが、 20祭司長やほかの宗教的指導者たちは、理不尽にもこの方をつかまえて、ローマ政府に引き渡し、十字架につけてしまったのです。 21-23私たちは、この方こそ栄光に輝くメシヤで、イスラエルを救うために来られたに違いないと考えていたのですが。ところが、話はそれで終わらないのです。弟子仲間の女たちが、なんとも奇妙なことを言いだしたのです。処刑があった日から、今日で三日目になりますが、今朝がた早く、その女たちが墓へ行ったところ、イエス様のお体は影も形もなかったというではありませんか。しかもその場に天使が現れて、イエス様は生きておられると語ったとか……。 24その話を聞いて、仲間のある者たちが墓へ駆けつけて確認したのですが、彼らも口をそろえて、墓は空っぽだったと証言しているのです。」 25「ああ、どうしてそんなに、心が鈍いのですか。預言者たちが聖書に書いていることを信じられないのですか。 26キリストは栄光の時を迎える前に、必ずこのような苦しみを受けるはずだと、預言者たちははっきり語ったではありませんか。」 27それからイエスは、創世記から始めて、聖書（旧約）全体にわたって次々と預言者のことばを引用しては、救い主についての教えを説き明かされました。
28そうこうするうち、エマオに近づきましたが、イエスはまだ旅を続ける様子です。 29二人は、じきに暗くなるから、今晩はここでいっしょに泊まってくださいと熱心に頼みました。それでイエスもいっしょに家に入りました。 30食卓に着くと、イエスはパンを取り、神に祝福を祈り求め、ちぎって二人に渡しました。 31その瞬間、二人の目が開かれ、その人がイエスだとわかりました。と同時に、イエスの姿はかき消すように見えなくなりました。 32二人はあっけにとられながらも、「そう言えば、あの方が歩きながら語りかけてくださった時も、聖書のことばを説明してくださった時も、不思議なほど私たちの心が燃えていたではないか」と語り合いました。 33-34そして、すぐエルサレムへ取って返しました。戻ってみると、十一人の弟子たちやほかの弟子たちが迎え、「主は、ほんとうに復活された。ペテロがお会いしたのだからまちがいない」と話していました。 35そこで二人も、エマオへ行く途中イエスと出会ったことや、パンをちぎられた時にはっきりイエスだとわかったことなどを話しました。
36これらの話をしている時、突然イエスが現れ、みんなの真ん中に立たれたのです。 37彼らは幽霊を見ているのだと勘違いし、ぶるぶる震えました。 38「なぜそんなに驚くのですか。どうしてそんなに疑うのですか。 39さあ、この手を、この足を、よくごらんなさい。わたしにまちがいないでしょう。さあ、さわってみなさい。これでも幽霊でしょうか。幽霊だったら、体などないはずです。」 40イエスはそう言いながら、手を差し出して釘の跡を見せ、また、足の傷もお示しになりました。 41弟子たちは、うれしいけれども、まだ半信半疑です。心を決めかねて、ぼう然としていました。それでイエスは、「何か食べ物がありますか」とお尋ねになりました。 42焼き魚を一切れ差し上げると、 43イエスはみんなの見ている前で召し上がりました。
44イエスは言われました。「以前、いっしょにいた時、モーセや預言者の書いたこと、それに聖書の詩篇にあることは、必ずそのとおりになると話して聞かせたはずです。忘れてしまったのですか。」 45イエスが弟子たちの心の目を開いてくださったので、彼らはやっと理解しました。 46イエスは、さらに続けられました。「キリストは苦しめられ、殺され、そして三日目に復活することが、ずっと昔から記されていたのです。 47悔い改めてわたしのもとに立ち返る人は、だれでも罪が赦されます。この救いの知らせは、エルサレムから始まり、世界中に伝えられるのです。 48あなたがたはこのことの証人です。初めから何もかも見てきたのですから。 49わたしは、父が約束してくださった聖霊をあなたがたに送ります。しかし、聖霊が来て、天からの力で満たしてくださるまでは、都にとどまっていなさい。」
50それからイエスは、彼らをベタニヤまで連れて行き、手を上げて祝福してから、 51彼らから離れて行かれました。 52彼らは喜びに胸を躍らせて、エルサレムに戻り、 53いつも宮にいて神を賛美していました。
