Jesus and the Miraculous Catch of Fish
1Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee.21:1 Greek Tiberias It happened this way: 2Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus21:2 Thomas (Aramaic) and Didymus (Greek) both mean twin.), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3“I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
5He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”
“No,” they answered.
6He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
7Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.21:8 Or about 90 meters 9When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
10Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” 11So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
Jesus Reinstates Peter
15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
20Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) 21When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
22Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” 23Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”
24This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
25Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
عيسای زنده با شاگردان
1پس از چند روز، در كنار درياچهٔ جليل، عيسی بار ديگر خود را به شاگردانش نشان داد. شرح واقعه چنين است. 2چند نفر از شاگردان كنار دريا بودند: شمعون پطرس، توما دوقلو، نتنائيل اهل قانای جليل، پسران زبدی و دو نفر ديگر از شاگردان. 3شمعون پطرس گفت: «من می‌روم ماهی بگيرم.»
همه گفتند: «ما هم می‌آييم.» پس، سوار قايق شدند و رفتند ولی آن شب چيزی نگرفتند.
4صبح زود ديدند يک نفر در ساحل ايستاده است، ولی چون هوا هنوز نيمه روشن بود، نتوانستند ببينند كيست.
5او صدا زد: «بچه‌ها، ماهی گرفته‌ايد؟»
جواب دادند: «نه.»
6گفت: «تورتان را در سمت راست قايق بيندازيد تا بگيريد.»
آنها هم انداختند. آنقدر ماهی در تور جمع شد كه از سنگينی نتوانستند تور را بالا بكشند.
7آنگاه شاگردی كه عيسی او را دوست می‌داشت به پطرس گفت: «اين خداوند است!» پطرس هم كه تا كمر برهنه بود، فوراً لباسش را به خود پيچيد و داخل آب پريد و شناكنان خود را به ساحل رساند. 8بقيه در قايق ماندند و تور پر از ماهی را به ساحل كشيدند. ساحل حدود صد متر با قايق فاصله داشت. 9وقتی به ساحل رسيدند، ديدند آتش روشن است و ماهی روی آن گذاشته شده، و مقداری هم نان آنجاست.
10عيسی فرمود: «چند تا از ماهی‌هايی را كه تازه گرفته‌ايد، بياوريد.» 11پطرس رفت و تور را به ساحل كشيد و ماهی‌ها را شمرد؛ صد و پنجاه و سه ماهی بزرگ در تور بود، با وجود اين، تور پاره نشده بود.
12عيسی فرمود: «بياييد صبحانه بخوريد.» ولی هيچيک جرأت نكرد از او بپرسد كه آيا او خود عيسای خداوند است يا نه، چون همه مطمئن بودند كه خود اوست. 13آنگاه عيسی نان و ماهی را گرفت و بين شاگردان تقسيم كرد. 14اين سومين باری بود كه عيسی پس از زنده شدن، خود را به شاگردان نشان می‌داد.
گفتگوی عيسی با پطرس
15بعد از صبحانه، عيسی از شمعون پطرس پرسيد: «شمعون، پسر يونا، آيا تو از ديگران بيشتر مرا دوست داری؟» پطرس جواب داد: «بلی، خودتان می‌دانيد كه من شما را دوست دارم.»
عيسی به او فرمود: «پس به بره‌های من خوراک بده.»
16عيسی بار ديگر پرسيد: «شمعون، پسر يونا، آيا واقعاً مرا دوست داری؟»
پطرس جواب داد: «بلی خداوندا، خودتان می‌دانيد كه من شما را دوست دارم.»
عيسی فرمود: «پس، از گوسفندان من مراقبت كن.»
17يک بار ديگر عيسی از او پرسيد: «شمعون، پسر يونا، آيا مرا دوست داری؟»
اين بار پطرس از طرز سؤال عيسی كه سه بار پرسيده بود كه او را دوست دارد، ناراحت شد و گفت: «خداوندا، شما از قلب من باخبريد. خودتان می‌دانيد كه شما را دوست دارم.»
عيسی به او فرمود: «پس به بره‌های كوچک من خوراک بده. 18واقعيت اين است كه وقتی جوان بودی هر كاری می‌خواستی می‌توانستی بكنی و هر جا می‌خواستی می‌رفتی، ولی وقتی پير شوی، ديگران دستت را می‌گيرند و به اين طرف و آن طرف می‌كشند، و جايی می‌برند كه نمی‌خواهی بروی.» 19اين را فرمود تا پطرس بداند كه با چه نوع مرگی خواهد مرد و خدا را جلال خواهد داد. بعد عيسی به او فرمود: «حالا به دنبال من بيا.»
20پطرس برگشت و شاگرد محبوب عيسی را ديد كه دنبالشان می‌آيد، يعنی همان كسی كه سر شام، كنار عيسی تكيه زده، از او پرسيد: «استاد، كدام يک از ما به تو خيانت می‌كنيم؟»
21پطرس از عيسی پرسيد: «بر سر او چه خواهد آمد؟»
22عيسی جواب داد: «اگر بخواهم او بماند تا بازگردم، چه ربطی به تو دارد؟ تو دنبال من بيا.»
23پس اين خبر در ميان برادران پيچيد كه آن شاگرد محبوب نخواهد مرد. در صورتی كه عيسی هرگز چنين چيزی نگفت، او فقط فرمود: «اگر بخواهم او بماند تا بازگردم، چه ربطی به تو دارد.»
خاتمه
24آن شاگرد تمام اين چيزها را ديد و اينجا نوشت؛ و ما همه می‌دانيم كه اين نوشته‌ها عين حقيقت است.
25من گمان می‌كنم اگر تمام رويدادهای زندگانی عيسی در كتابها نوشته می‌شد، دنيا گنجايش آن كتابها را نمی‌داشت!
