Judgment and Hope
1This is what the Lord says:
“Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool.
Where is the house you will build for me?
Where will my resting place be?
2Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?”
declares the Lord.
“These are the ones I look on with favor:
those who are humble and contrite in spirit,
and who tremble at my word.
3But whoever sacrifices a bull
is like one who kills a person,
and whoever offers a lamb
is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
whoever makes a grain offering
is like one who presents pig’s blood,
and whoever burns memorial incense
is like one who worships an idol.
They have chosen their own ways,
and they delight in their abominations;
4so I also will choose harsh treatment for them
and will bring on them what they dread.
For when I called, no one answered,
when I spoke, no one listened.
They did evil in my sight
and chose what displeases me.”
5Hear the word of the Lord,
you who tremble at his word:
“Your own people who hate you,
and exclude you because of my name, have said,
‘Let the Lord be glorified,
that we may see your joy!’
Yet they will be put to shame.
6Hear that uproar from the city,
hear that noise from the temple!
It is the sound of the Lord
repaying his enemies all they deserve.
7“Before she goes into labor,
she gives birth;
before the pains come upon her,
she delivers a son.
8Who has ever heard of such things?
Who has ever seen things like this?
Can a country be born in a day
or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor
than she gives birth to her children.
9Do I bring to the moment of birth
and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb
when I bring to delivery?” says your God.
10“Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her,
all you who love her;
rejoice greatly with her,
all you who mourn over her.
11For you will nurse and be satisfied
at her comforting breasts;
you will drink deeply
and delight in her overflowing abundance.”
12For this is what the Lord says:
“I will extend peace to her like a river,
and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried on her arm
and dandled on her knees.
13As a mother comforts her child,
so will I comfort you;
and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”
14When you see this, your heart will rejoice
and you will flourish like grass;
the hand of the Lord will be made known to his servants,
but his fury will be shown to his foes.
15See, the Lord is coming with fire,
and his chariots are like a whirlwind;
he will bring down his anger with fury,
and his rebuke with flames of fire.
16For with fire and with his sword
the Lord will execute judgment on all people,
and many will be those slain by the Lord.
17“Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one who is among those who eat the flesh of pigs, rats and other unclean things—they will meet their end together with the one they follow,” declares the Lord.
18“And I, because of what they have planned and done, am about to come66:18 The meaning of the Hebrew for this clause is uncertain. and gather the people of all nations and languages, and they will come and see my glory.
19“I will set a sign among them, and I will send some of those who survive to the nations—to Tarshish, to the Libyans66:19 Some Septuagint manuscripts Put (Libyans); Hebrew Pul and Lydians (famous as archers), to Tubal and Greece, and to the distant islands that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will proclaim my glory among the nations. 20And they will bring all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,” says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels. 21And I will select some of them also to be priests and Levites,” says the Lord.
22“As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure. 23From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the Lord. 24“And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”
خداوند قومها را داوری می‌كند
1خداوند می‌فرمايد: «آسمان، تخت سلطنت من است و زمين، فرش زير پای من! پس چه خانه‌ای می‌خواهيد برای من بسازيد تا در آن ساكن شوم؟ 2دست من تمام اين هستی را آفريده است. من نزد كسی ساكن می‌شوم كه فروتن و توبه‌كار است و از كلام من می‌ترسد.
3«اما من از آنان كه به راههای خود می‌روند و گناهان خود را دوست می‌دارند، دور هستم و قربانیهايشان را قبول نمی‌كنم. اين گونه افراد وقتی بر قربانگاه من گاوی قربانی می‌كنند، مانند آنست كه انسانی را می‌كشند، و هنگامی كه گوسفندی را ذبح می‌كنند، مانند آنست كه سگی را قربانی می‌كنند. وقتی هديه‌ای به من تقديم می‌كنند مثل آنست كه خون خوک را تقديم می‌كنند، و وقتی بخور می‌سوزانند مانند آنست كه بت را می‌پرستند. 4من نيز مصيبتهايی را كه از آن وحشت دارند بر آنها عارض می‌كنم، زيرا وقتی آنان را خواندم جواب ندادند و هنگامی كه با آنان صحبت كردم گوش ندادند، بلكه آنچه را كه در نظر من ناپسند بود انجام دادند و آنچه را كه نخواستم اختيار كردند.»
5ای كسانی كه از خداوند می‌ترسيد و او را اطاعت می‌كنيد، به كلام او گوش دهيد. او می‌فرمايد: «برادرانتان از شما نفرت دارند و شما را از خود می‌رانند، زيرا به من ايمان داريد. آنها شما را مسخره كرده، می‌گويند: ”خداوند بزرگ است و سرانجام شما را نجات خواهد داد و ما شادی شما را خواهيم ديد!“ اما خود ايشان بزودی رسوا و سرافكنده خواهند شد.
6«در شهر چه غوغايی است؟ اين چه صدايی است كه از خانهٔ خدا به گوش می‌رسد؟ اين صدای خداوند است كه از دشمنانش انتقام می‌گيرد.»
7-8خداوند می‌گويد: «چه كسی تا به حال چنين چيز عجيبی ديده يا شنيده است كه قومی ناگهان در يک روز متولد شود؟ اما قوم اسرائيل در يک روز متولد خواهد شد؛ اورشليم حتی قبل از اينكه درد زايمانش شروع شود، فرزندان خود را به دنیا خواهد آورد. 9آيا فكر می‌كنيد كه من قوم خود را تا به مرحلهٔ تولد می‌رسانم، اما او را همانجا رها می‌كنم تا متولد نشود؟ نه، هرگز!»
10ای همهٔ كسانی كه اورشليم را دوست داريد و برايش سوگواری می‌كنيد، اينک خوشحال باشيد و با او به شادی بپردازيد! 11مانند كودكی كه از شير مادر تغذيه می‌كند، شما نيز از وفور نعمت اورشليم بهره‌مند خواهيد شد و لذت خواهيد برد. 12زيرا خداوند می‌گويد: «من صلح و سلامتی در اورشليم پديد خواهم آورد و ثروت قومهای جهان را مانند رودخانه‌ای كه آبش هرگز خشک نمی‌شود به آنجا سرازير خواهم كرد. شما مانند كودكان شيرخوار، از اورشليم تغذيه خواهيد كرد و در آغوش او به خواب خواهيد رفت و بر زانوانش نوازش خواهيد شد. 13من مانند مادری كه فرزندش را دلداری می‌دهد، شما را در اورشليم تسلی خواهم داد. 14هنگامی كه اين رويدادها را ببينيد، دل شما شاد خواهد شد و قوت و نشاط سراسر وجودتان را فرا خواهد گرفت. آنگاه خواهيد فهميد من كه خداوند هستم خدمتگزاران خود را ياری می‌دهم، اما با دشمنان خود با غضب رفتار می‌كنم.»
15اينک خداوند با آتش و با عرابه‌های تندرو می‌آيد تا كسانی را که مورد غضب او هستند به سختی مجازات كند. 16او با آتش و شمشير خود تمام مردم گناهكار جهان را مجازات خواهد كرد و عدهٔ زيادی را خواهد كشت.
17خداوند می‌گويد: «كسانی كه در باغهای خود، در پشت درختان بت می‌پرستند و گوشت خوک و موش و خوراكهای حرام ديگر می‌خورند، هلاک خواهند شد. 18من از كارها و فكرهای آنان آگاهی كامل دارم. من می‌آيم تا همهٔ قومها و نژادهای جهان را جمع كنم و ايشان را به اورشليم بياورم تا جلال مرا ببينند. 19در آنجا معجزه‌ای بر ضد آنان نشان خواهم داد و آنان را مجازات خواهم كرد. اما از بين ايشان عده‌ای را حفظ خواهم كرد و آنان را به سرزمينهای دور دست كه هنوز نام مرا نشنيده‌اند و به قدرت و عظمت من پی نبرده‌اند خواهم فرستاد، يعنی به ترشيش، ليبی، ليديه (كه تيراندازان ماهر دارد)، توبال و يونان. آری، ايشان را به اين سرزمينها خواهم فرستاد تا عظمت مرا به مردم آنجا اعلام كنند. 20سپس ايشان هموطنان شما را از آن سرزمينها جمع خواهند كرد و آنان را بر اسبها، عرابه‌ها، تختهای روان، قاطرها و شترها سوار كرده، به كوه مقدس من در اورشليم خواهند آورد و به عنوان هديه به من تقديم خواهند كرد، همانگونه كه بنی‌اسرائيل هدايای خود را در ظروف پاک به خانهٔ من می‌آوردند و به من تقديم می‌كردند. 21و من برخی از ايشان را كاهن و لاوی خود خواهم ساخت.
22«همانگونه كه آسمانها و زمين جديدی كه من می‌سازم در حضور من پايدار می‌ماند. همچنان نسل شما و نام شما نيز پايدار خواهند ماند. 23همهٔ مردم ماه به ماه و هفته به هفته به اورشليم خواهند آمد تا مرا پرستش كنند. 24هنگامی كه آنان اورشليم را ترک می‌كنند، جنازهٔ كسانی را كه بر ضد من برخاسته بودند، ملاحظه خواهند كرد. كرمی كه بدنهای آنها را می‌خورد هرگز نخواهد مرد و آتشی كه ايشان را می‌سوزاند هرگز خاموش نخواهد شد. همهٔ مردم با نفرت به آنان نگاه خواهند كرد.»
