1Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8By oppression53:8 Or From arrest and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.53:8 Or generation considered / that he was cut off from the land of the living, / that he was punished for the transgression of my people?
9He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes53:10 Hebrew though you make his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
11After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life53:11 Dead Sea Scrolls (see also Septuagint); Masoretic Text does not have the light of life. and be satisfied53:11 Or (with Masoretic Text) 11 He will see the fruit of his suffering / and will be satisfied;
by his knowledge53:11 Or by knowledge of him my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
12Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,53:12 Or many
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,53:12 Or numerous
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
1Cine a crezut ceea ce noi am auzit?
Și brațul Domnului, cui i‑a fost descoperit?
2El a crescut înaintea Lui ca un lăstar,
ca o rădăcină ieșită dintr‑un pământ uscat.
Nu avea nici frumusețe2 Lit.: formă., și nici măreție la care să ne uităm,
și nu era nimic în înfățișarea Lui ca să‑L dorim.
3Era disprețuit și părăsit de oameni,
un Om al durerilor și obișnuit cu suferința.
Era disprețuit,
ca și un om de care îți ascunzi fața,
iar noi nu L‑am luat în seamă.
4Într-adevăr, El a luat suferințele noastre
și a purtat durerile noastre.
Noi însă L‑am considerat lovit,
zdrobit de Dumnezeu și asuprit.
5Dar El era străpuns pentru fărădelegile noastre,
zdrobit pentru nelegiuirile noastre.
Pedeapsa care ne dă pacea era peste El,
și prin rănile Lui suntem vindecați.
6Noi rătăceam cu toții ca niște oi,
fiecare urmându‑și propria cale,
dar Domnul a pus asupra Lui
nelegiuirea noastră, a tuturor.
7Când a fost chinuit și asuprit,
El nu Și‑a deschis gura.
Ca un miel care este dus la tăiere
și ca o oaie mută înaintea celor ce o tund,
tot așa nici El nu Și‑a deschis gura.
8A fost luat prin forță și judecată.
Dar cine din generația Sa s‑ar fi gândit
că8 Sau: judecată. / Cine poate vorbi despre urmașii Săi? Căci…. El era șters de pe tărâmul celor vii
și lovit pentru fărădelegea poporului Meu?
9I‑au pus mormântul lângă al celor răi
și L‑au așezat în9 Sau: lângă. groapa9 Lit.: moartea. celui bogat,
deși El n‑a săvârșit violență
și nu s‑a găsit înșelătorie în gura Lui.
10Domnul însă a vrut să‑L zdrobească prin suferință.
Dar după ce Își va da viața ca jertfă pentru vină,
Își va vedea sămânța10 Termenul ebraic este un singular care se poate referi atât la un singur urmaș, cât și la toți descendenții din linia genealogică a unei persoane (colectiv). Este foarte probabil ca în cele mai multe cazuri termenul să exprime o ambiguitate intenționată. și va trăi multe zile,
iar voia Domnului va propăși prin El.
11După truda sufletului Său,
va vedea lumina11 Q, LXX. și va fi mulțumit.
Prin cunoștința Sa, Robul Meu cel drept va îndreptăți pe mulți
și le va purta nelegiuirile.
12De aceea Îi voi da o parte la un loc cu cei mari12 Sau: cei mulți.
și va împărți prada cu cei puternici12 Sau: cu cei numeroși.,
căci S‑a golit pe Sine, până la moarte,
și a fost numărat alături de cei răzvrătiți.
Totuși, El a purtat păcatul celor mulți
și a mijlocit pentru cei răzvrătiți.
