Deliverance of Israel
1In that day,
the Lord will punish with his sword—
his fierce, great and powerful sword—
Leviathan the gliding serpent,
Leviathan the coiling serpent;
he will slay the monster of the sea.
2In that day—
“Sing about a fruitful vineyard:
3I, the Lord, watch over it;
I water it continually.
I guard it day and night
so that no one may harm it.
4I am not angry.
If only there were briers and thorns confronting me!
I would march against them in battle;
I would set them all on fire.
5Or else let them come to me for refuge;
let them make peace with me,
yes, let them make peace with me.”
6In days to come Jacob will take root,
Israel will bud and blossom
and fill all the world with fruit.
7Has the Lord struck her
as he struck down those who struck her?
Has she been killed
as those were killed who killed her?
8By warfare27:8 See Septuagint; the meaning of the Hebrew for this word is uncertain. and exile you contend with her—
with his fierce blast he drives her out,
as on a day the east wind blows.
9By this, then, will Jacob’s guilt be atoned for,
and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin:
When he makes all the altar stones
to be like limestone crushed to pieces,
no Asherah poles27:9 That is, wooden symbols of the goddess Asherah or incense altars
will be left standing.
10The fortified city stands desolate,
an abandoned settlement, forsaken like the wilderness;
there the calves graze,
there they lie down;
they strip its branches bare.
11When its twigs are dry, they are broken off
and women come and make fires with them.
For this is a people without understanding;
so their Maker has no compassion on them,
and their Creator shows them no favor.
12In that day the Lord will thresh from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt, and you, Israel, will be gathered up one by one. 13And in that day a great trumpet will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled in Egypt will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
1در آن روز، خداوند با شمشير بسيار تيز و برندهٔ خود، «لوياتان» را كه ماری تيزرو و پيچنده است به سزای اعمالش خواهد رساند و آن اژدها را كه در درياست خواهد كشت.27:1 در اين آيه منظور از «لوياتان» و «اژدها» دشمنان قوم اسرائيل هستند که بر اين قوم ظلم می‌کردند.
2در آن روز، خداوند دربارهٔ تاكستان پر بار خود خواهد گفت:
3«من از اين تاكستان مراقبت می‌نمايم و مرتب آن را آبياری می‌كنم. روز و شب مواظب هستم تا كسی به آن آسيبی نرساند. 4-5ديگر بر تاكستان خود خشمگين نيستم. اگر ببينم خارها مزاحمش هستند، آنها را يكجا آتش خواهم زد، مگر اينكه اين دشمنان قوم من تسليم شوند و از من تقاضای صلح كنند.»
6زمانی خواهد رسيد كه اسرائيل ريشه خواهد زد، غنچه و شكوفه خواهد آورد و دنيا را از ميوه پر خواهد ساخت.
7خداوند به اندازه‌ای كه دشمنان قوم اسرائيل را تنبيه كرده است اين قوم را تنبيه نكرده است. 8او برای مجازات اسرائيل، آنها را از سرزمينشان به ديار دور تبعيد كرد گويی باد شرقی وزيد و آنان را با خود برد. 9او اين كار را كرد تا گناه قوم اسرائيل را كفاره كند و آنها را از هر چه بت و بتكده هست پاک سازد و قوم اسرائيل ديگر بتها را نپرستند.
10شهرهای مستحكم اسرائيل خالی از سكنه شده و مانند بيابان متروک گرديده‌اند. در آنجا گاوها می‌چرند و شاخ و برگ درختان را می‌خورند. 11شاخه‌های درختان خشک شده، می‌افتند و زنها آنها را جمع كرده، در اجاق می‌سوزانند. خدا بر اين قوم رحم و شفقت نمی‌كند، زيرا خالق خود را نمی‌شناسند.
12اما زمانی خواهد رسيد كه خداوند مانند كسی كه خوشه‌های گندم را دانه‌دانه برمی‌چيند و از پوستش جدا می‌كند، بنی‌اسرائيل را از رود فرات تا مرز مصر جمع خواهد كرد. 13در آن روز، شيپور بزرگ نواخته خواهد شد و بسياری از قوم يهود كه به آشور و مصر تبعيد شده‌اند باز خواهند گشت و خداوند را در اورشليم بر كوه مقدسش پرستش خواهند كرد.
