The Branch From Jesse
1A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
2The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—
3and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears;
4but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth;
with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.
5Righteousness will be his belt
and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
6The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling11:6 Hebrew; Septuagint lion will feed together;
and a little child will lead them.
7The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
8The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
9They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
10In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious. 11In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush,11:11 That is, the upper Nile region from Elam, from Babylonia,11:11 Hebrew Shinar from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean.
12He will raise a banner for the nations
and gather the exiles of Israel;
he will assemble the scattered people of Judah
from the four quarters of the earth.
13Ephraim’s jealousy will vanish,
and Judah’s enemies11:13 Or hostility will be destroyed;
Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah,
nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim.
14They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west;
together they will plunder the people to the east.
They will subdue Edom and Moab,
and the Ammonites will be subject to them.
15The Lord will dry up
the gulf of the Egyptian sea;
with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand
over the Euphrates River.
He will break it up into seven streams
so that anyone can cross over in sandals.
16There will be a highway for the remnant of his people
that is left from Assyria,
as there was for Israel
when they came up from Egypt.

1И выйдет от корня Есея Побег,
вырастет из его корней Отрасль11:1 См. Мат. 1:5-16. Пророк упоминает не царя Довуда, а его отца Есея, тем самым показывая, что новый Побег будет представлять род Довуда не в его царском величии, а в духовном величии – в верности и преданности Вечному..
2На Нём будет покоиться Дух Вечного –
Дух мудрости и разума,
Дух совета и силы,
Дух знания и страха перед Вечным11:2 См. Мат. 3:16; Деян. 10:38.,
3и будет страх перед Вечным Ему в радость.
Он не будет судить по тому, что увидят Его глаза,
и решать по тому, что услышат Его уши,
4но по правде Он будет судить бедных,
справедливо решать дела бедняков земли.
Он поразит землю силой Своих слов;
дыханием Своих уст убьёт нечестивого.
5Праведность будет Его поясом,
верность – опоясанием на Его бёдрах.
6Тогда волк будет жить вместе с ягнёнком,
барс ляжет рядом с козлёнком,
телёнок и лев будут вместе пастись11:6 Или: «вместе телёнок, лев и откормленный скот».,
и дитя поведёт их.
7Корова будет пастись с медведицей,
их детёныши будут вместе лежать,
и лев, как вол, будет есть сено.
8Младенец будет играть над норой змеи,
малое дитя положит руку на гнездо гадюки.
9И не будет ни вреда, ни погибели
на всей святой горе Моей,
ведь земля будет наполнена познанием Вечного,
как воды наполняют море.
10В тот день Корень11:10 Или: «Росток». Есея станет знаменем для народов; к Нему соберутся народы, и прославится место Его покоя. 11В тот день Владыка во второй раз протянет руку, чтобы вернуть уцелевших, которые останутся из Его народа, вернуть их из Ассирии, из Нижнего и Верхнего Египта11:11 Букв.: «из Египта и Патроса»., из Эфиопии, из Елама, из Вавилонии11:11 Букв.: «из Шинара»., из Хамата и с морских островов.
12Он поднимет знамя народам
и соберёт изгнанников Исроила;
Он соберёт рассеянный народ Иудеи
с четырёх концов земли.
13Прекратится зависть Ефраима11:13 Ефраим – так часто называли Северное царство – Исроил, где наиболее влиятельным был род Ефраима.,
и враждебность Иудеи будет истреблена;
Ефраим не станет завидовать Иудее,
а Иудея враждовать с Ефраимом.
14Они налетят на холмы филистимлян на западе,
вместе ограбят народ на востоке.
На Эдом и Моав протянут руки,
и покорятся им аммонитяне.
15Вечный иссушит
залив Красного моря11:15 Букв.: «Египетского моря».;
в опаляющем ветре взмахнёт рукой
над рекой Евфрат.
Она разобьётся на семь ручьёв,
так что её будут переходить в сандалиях.
16Из Ассирии проляжет широкий путь
для уцелевших из Его народа,
как было для Исроила,
когда он вышел из Египта.
