Solomon Builds the Temple
1Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah3:1 Hebrew Ornan, a variant of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David. 2He began building on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign.
3The foundation Solomon laid for building the temple of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide3:3 That is, about 90 feet long and 30 feet wide or about 27 meters long and 9 meters wide (using the cubit of the old standard). 4The portico at the front of the temple was twenty cubits3:4 That is, about 30 feet or about 9 meters; also in verses 8, 11 and 13 long across the width of the building and twenty3:4 Some Septuagint and Syriac manuscripts; Hebrew and a hundred and twenty cubits high.
He overlaid the inside with pure gold. 5He paneled the main hall with juniper and covered it with fine gold and decorated it with palm tree and chain designs. 6He adorned the temple with precious stones. And the gold he used was gold of Parvaim. 7He overlaid the ceiling beams, doorframes, walls and doors of the temple with gold, and he carved cherubim on the walls.
8He built the Most Holy Place, its length corresponding to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. He overlaid the inside with six hundred talents3:8 That is, about 23 tons or about 21 metric tons of fine gold. 9The gold nails weighed fifty shekels.3:9 That is, about 1 1/4 pounds or about 575 grams He also overlaid the upper parts with gold.
10For the Most Holy Place he made a pair of sculptured cherubim and overlaid them with gold. 11The total wingspan of the cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits3:11 That is, about 7 1/2 feet or about 2.3 meters; also in verse 15 long and touched the temple wall, while its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the other cherub. 12Similarly one wing of the second cherub was five cubits long and touched the other temple wall, and its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the first cherub. 13The wings of these cherubim extended twenty cubits. They stood on their feet, facing the main hall.3:13 Or facing inward
14He made the curtain of blue, purple and crimson yarn and fine linen, with cherubim worked into it.
15For the front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits3:15 That is, about 53 feet or about 16 meters long, each with a capital five cubits high. 16He made interwoven chains3:16 Or possibly made chains in the inner sanctuary; the meaning of the Hebrew for this phrase is uncertain. and put them on top of the pillars. He also made a hundred pomegranates and attached them to the chains. 17He erected the pillars in the front of the temple, one to the south and one to the north. The one to the south he named Jakin3:17 Jakin probably means he establishes. and the one to the north Boaz.3:17 Boaz probably means in him is strength.
솔로몬의 성전 건축
1마침내 성전 건축 공사가 시작되었다. 그 위치는 예루살렘의 모리아산이었다. 이 곳은 여호와께서 솔로몬의 아버지 다윗에게 나타났던 곳으로 여부스 사람 오르난의 타작 마당이었으나 다윗이 성전 부지로 선정한 곳이었다.
2성전 건축 공사가 시작된 날은 솔로몬왕 4년 2월 2일이었다.
3성전 지대는 3:3 히 ‘길 60규빗, 폭 20규빗’길이가 27미터, 폭이 9미터이며
4현관의 폭과 높이는 성전의 폭과 같이 각각 3:4 원문에는 ‘현관의높이 120규빗’ 54미터로되어있다.9미터였고 현관 내부는 순금으로 입혔다.
5성전 본당은 백향목으로 만들고 그 위에 순금을 입혔으며 거기에 종려나무와 사슬 모양의 형상을 새겼다.
6또 아름다운 보석을 벽에 박아 한층 돋보이게 하고 바르와임에서 수입해 온 금으로 성전을 화려하게 장식했는데
7성전 벽 전체와 들보와 문과 문지방을 금으로 입히고, 벽에는 그룹 천사를 아로새겼다.
8그리고 성전 안에 길이와 폭이 다 같이 9미터 되는 지성소를 만들고 순금 3:8 히 ‘600달란트’약 20톤으로 그 벽을 입혔고
9또 금 3:9 히 ‘50세겔’570그램으로 지성소에 쓸 못을 만들었으며 다락도 역시 금으로 입혔다.
10지성소 안에는 조각하여 만든 두 그룹 천사를 금으로 입혀 놓았으며
11-13그 두 그룹 천사는 정면을 향해 서로 나란히 서 있게 하였다. 이 그룹 천사들의 날개는 각각 두 개씩이며 각 날개의 길이는 약 2.3미터였다. 이 날개들은 지성소 중앙에서 한쪽 끝을 서로 맞대고 다른 한쪽 끝은 각각 성전 벽에 닿았는데 두 그룹 천사의 날개가 뻗어 있는 전체 길이는 9미터였다.
14그리고 지성소의 휘장은 청색, 자색, 홍색 실과 고운 베로 만들었으며 그 위에 그룹 천사를 수놓았다.
15성전 정면에는 높이 3:15 원문에는 ‘35규빗’ 곧 16미터로되어있다.8.1미터 되는 두 기둥을 세웠으며 이 기둥에는 약 2.3미터 되는 기둥머리를 씌웠고,
16또 그 기둥머리를 사슬로 장식하여 그 사슬에 놋으로 만든 석류 100개를 달았다.
17이 기둥은 성전 입구 양쪽에 세웠으며 오른쪽에 세운 것을 3:17 ‘하나님이세우신다’ 는뜻.‘야긴’ 이라 부르고 왼쪽에 세운 것을 3:17 ‘그의힘으로’ 라는뜻.‘보아스’ 라고 불렀다.
