Psalm 87
A psalm of the Sons of Korah. A song.
1The Lord has built his city
on the holy mountain.
2He loves the city of Zion
more than all the other places
where the people of Jacob live.
3City of God,
the Lord says glorious things about you.
4He says, “I will include Egypt and Babylon
in a list of nations who recognize me as king.
I will also include Philistia and Tyre, along with Cush.
I will say about them, ‘They were born in Zion.’ ”
5Certainly it will be said about Zion,
“This nation and that nation were born in it.
The Most High God himself will make it secure.”
6Here is what the Lord will write in his list of the nations.
“Each of them was born in Zion.”
7As they make music they will sing,
“Zion, all our blessings come from you.”
Zion, Gottes geliebte Stadt
1Ein Lied von den Nachkommen Korachs.
Hoch auf dem heiligen Berg hat Gott die Stadt Zion errichtet.
2Er liebt Jerusalem mit seinen herrlichen Toren
mehr als alle anderen Orte, in denen die Nachkommen von Jakob wohnen.
3Du bist weltberühmt, du Stadt Gottes!
Der Herr sagt:
4»In Ägypten und Babylon gibt es Menschen,
die mich kennen und ehren,
und auch bei den Philistern, in Tyrus und Äthiopien
findet man Bürger meiner Stadt.«87,4 Wörtlich: Ich will Rahab und Babel zu denen zählen, die mich kennen; siehe, Philistäa und Tyrus samt Kusch. Dieser ist dort geboren. – Vgl. »Rahab« in den Sacherklärungen.
5Aber von Jerusalem selbst heißt es:
»Alle seine Einwohner haben hier ihr Bürgerrecht!«87,5 Wörtlich: Mann für Mann ist dort geboren.
Ja, er, der Höchste, lässt Zion fest bestehen!
6Der Herr wird eine Liste aller Völker aufstellen
und darin jeden vermerken, der zu Jerusalem gehört.87,6 Wörtlich: Der Herr wird schreiben beim Verzeichnen der Völker: Dieser ist dort geboren. – Vgl. Jesaja 56,5; Hesekiel 13,9.
7Sie alle werden tanzen und fröhlich singen:
»Was wir haben, verdanken wir dieser Stadt!«
