Psalm 33
1You who are godly, sing with joy to the Lord.
It is right for honest people to praise him.
2With the harp, praise the Lord.
With the lyre that has ten strings, make music to him.
3Sing a new song to him.
Play with skill, and shout with joy.
4What the Lord says is right and true.
He is faithful in everything he does.
5The Lord loves what is right and fair.
The earth is full of his faithful love.
6The heavens were made when the Lord commanded it to happen.
All the stars were created by the breath of his mouth.
7He gathers together the waters of the sea.
He puts the oceans in their places.
8Let the whole earth have respect for the Lord.
Let all the people in the world honor him.
9He spoke, and the world came into being.
He commanded, and it stood firm.
10The Lord blocks the sinful plans of the nations.
He keeps them from doing what they want to do.
11But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever.
What he wants to do will last for all time.
12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.
Blessed are the people he chose to be his own.
13From heaven the Lord looks down
and sees everyone.
14From his throne he watches
all those who live on the earth.
15He creates the hearts of all people.
He is aware of everything they do.
16A king isn’t saved just because his army is big.
A soldier doesn’t escape just because he is very strong.
17People can’t trust a horse to save them either.
Though it is very strong, it can’t save them.
18But the Lord looks with favor on those who respect him.
He watches over those who put their hope in his faithful love.
19He watches over them to save them from death.
He wants to keep them alive when there is no food in the land.
20We wait in hope for the Lord.
He helps us. He is like a shield that keeps us safe.
21Our hearts are full of joy because of him.
We trust in him, because he is holy.
22Lord, may your faithful love be with us.
We put our hope in you.
Salmo 33
1Canten al Señor con alegría, ustedes los justos;
es propio de los íntegros alabar al Señor.
2Alaben al Señor al son del arpa;
entonen alabanzas con la lira de diez cuerdas.
3Cántenle una canción nueva;
toquen con destreza
y den voces de alegría.
4La palabra del Señor es justa;
fieles son todas sus obras.
5El Señor ama la justicia y el derecho;
llena está la tierra de su gran amor.
6Por la palabra del Señor fueron hechos los cielos
y por el soplo de su boca, todo lo que en ellos hay.
7Él recoge en cántaros las aguas del mar
y junta en depósitos las profundidades del océano.
8Que toda la tierra tema al Señor;
que lo honren todos los pueblos del mundo;
9porque él habló, todo fue hecho;
dio una orden y todo quedó firme.
10El Señor frustra los planes de las naciones;
desbarata los designios de los pueblos.
11Pero los planes del Señor quedan firmes para siempre;
los designios de su corazón son eternos.
12Dichosa la nación cuyo Dios es el Señor,
el pueblo que escogió por su heredad.
13El Señor observa desde el cielo
y ve a toda la humanidad;
14él contempla desde su morada
a todos los habitantes de la tierra.
15Él es quien formó el corazón de todos
y quien conoce a fondo todas sus acciones.
16No se salva el rey por sus muchos soldados
ni por su mucha fuerza se libra el valiente.
17Vana esperanza de victoria es el caballo;
a pesar de su mucha fuerza no puede salvar.
18Los ojos del Señor están sobre los que le temen;
de los que esperan en su gran amor.
19Él los libra de la muerte
y en épocas de hambre los mantiene con vida.
20Esperamos confiados en el Señor;
él es nuestro socorro y nuestro escudo.
21En él se regocija nuestro corazón,
porque confiamos en su santo nombre.
22Que tu gran amor, Señor, nos acompañe,
tal como lo esperamos de ti.
