Psalm 147
1Praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing praises to our God!
How pleasant and right it is to praise him!
2The Lord builds up Jerusalem.
He gathers the scattered people of Israel.
3He heals those who have broken hearts.
He takes care of their wounds.
4He decides how many stars there should be.
He gives each one of them a name.
5Great is our Lord. His power is mighty.
There is no limit to his understanding.
6The Lord gives strength to those who aren’t proud.
But he throws evil people down to the ground.
7Sing to the Lord and give him grateful praise.
Make music to our God on the harp.
8He covers the sky with clouds.
He supplies the earth with rain.
He makes grass grow on the hills.
9He provides food for the cattle.
He provides for the young ravens when they cry out.
10He doesn’t take pleasure in the strength of horses.
He doesn’t take delight in the strong legs of warriors.
11The Lord takes delight in those who have respect for him.
They put their hope in his faithful love.
12Jerusalem, praise the Lord.
Zion, praise your God.
13He makes the metal bars of your gates stronger.
He blesses the people who live inside you.
14He keeps your borders safe and secure.
He satisfies you with the finest wheat.
15He sends his command to the earth.
His word arrives there quickly.
16He spreads the snow like wool.
He scatters the frost like ashes.
17He throws down his hail like pebbles.
No one can stand his icy blast.
18He gives his command, and the ice melts.
He stirs up his winds, and the waters flow.
19He has made his word known to the people of Jacob.
He has made his laws and rules known to Israel.
20He hasn’t done that for any other nation.
They don’t know his laws.

Salmo 147
1Louvem o Senhor!
É bom cantar louvores ao nosso Deus!
É agradável e justo louvá-lo!
2O Senhor restaura Jerusalém
e faz regressar os exilados de Israel.
3Conforta os que têm o coração quebrantado;
ele cura as suas feridas.
4Sabe o número exato das estrelas,
chamando todas pelos seus nomes.
5Por isso, o nosso Senhor é grande!
O seu poder é absoluto!
A sua sabedoria não tem limite!
6O Senhor dá força aos humildes,
mas abate até ao pó os que praticam o mal.
7Cantem-lhe cânticos de gratidão!
Cantem louvores ao nosso Deus,
acompanhados de harpa!
8É por ele que o céu se cobre de nuvens
que se destilam em chuva sobre a terra,
fazendo crescer a erva nos montes.
9Os animais devem-lhe o seu sustento;
os filhotes dos corvos recebem dele a comida, quando chamam.
10O Senhor não tem interesse especial
na força do cavalo nem nos músculos do ser humano.
11Tem alegria, sim, naqueles que o temem
e naqueles que se apoiam na sua bondade.
12Ó Jerusalém, louva o Senhor!
Louva o teu Deus, ó Sião!
13Foi ele quem reforçou as trancas das tuas portas,
e deu paz e segurança aos teus habitantes.
14Trouxe tranquilidade a toda a nação;
encheu os teus celeiros de trigo excelente.
15Envia as suas ordens à Terra
e a sua palavra corre velozmente por toda a parte.
16Faz cair a neve, branca como a lã,
e espalha a geada como um manto cristalino.
17É por ele que o granizo cai sobre a terra
e o frio intenso a que ninguém consegue resistir.
18Mas depois, pela sua palavra,
o calor vem derreter tudo: neve, gelo, geada.
Os ventos sopram e as águas retomam as torrentes.
19Ensinou a Jacob as suas leis
e todos os seus regulamentos a Israel.
20Isso ele não fez com nenhuma outra nação;
os outros povos desconhecem os seus estatutos.
Louvem o Senhor!
