Psalm 14
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1Foolish people say in their hearts,
“There is no God.”
They do all kinds of horrible and evil things.
No one does anything good.
2The Lord looks down from heaven
on all people.
He wants to see if there are any who understand.
He wants to see if there are any who trust in God.
3All of them have turned away.
They have all become evil.
No one does anything good,
no one at all.
4Do all these people who do evil know nothing?
They eat up my people as if they were eating bread.
They never call out to the Lord.
5But just look at them! They are filled with terror
because God is among those who do right.
6You who do evil keep poor people from succeeding.
But the Lord is their place of safety.
7How I pray that the God who saves Israel will come out of Zion!
Then the Lord will bless his people with great success again.
So let the people of Jacob be filled with joy! Let Israel be glad!

Gudsförnekelsens dårskap
(Ps 53)
1För körledaren. Av David.
Dåren säger för sig själv: ”Det finns ingen Gud!”
De är onda, deras handlingar är fördärvliga,
det finns ingen som gör det goda.
2Från himlen ser Herren ner på människorna
för att se om det finns någon med förstånd,
någon som frågar efter Gud.
3Men alla har vänt sig bort,
alla är lika korrumperade.
Det finns ingen som gör det goda,
inte en enda.
4Förstår de då ingenting, alla de som gör orätt,
de som äter mitt folk som man äter bröd,
de som inte ber till Herren?
5Men de ska bli skräckslagna,
för Gud är hos de rättfärdiga.
6Ni hånar den fattiges planer,
men Herren är hans tillflykt.
7O, att det från Sion kom räddning för Israel!
När Herren återupprättar sitt folk från dess fångenskap
ska Jakob glädja sig och Israel jubla.
