Psalm 116
1I love the Lord, because he heard my voice.
He heard my cry for his help.
2Because he paid attention to me,
I will call out to him as long as I live.
3The ropes of death were wrapped around me.
The horrors of the grave came over me.
I was overcome by sadness and sorrow.
4Then I called out to the Lord.
I cried out, “Lord, save me!”
5The Lord is holy and kind.
Our God is full of tender love.
6The Lord takes care of those who are not aware of danger.
When I was in great need, he saved me.
7I said to myself, “Be calm.
The Lord has been good to me.”
8Lord, you have saved me from death.
You have dried the tears from my eyes.
You have kept me from tripping and falling.
9So now I can enjoy life here with you
while I’m still living.
10I trusted in the Lord even when I said to myself,
“I am in great pain.”
11When I was terrified, I said to myself,
“No one tells the truth.”
12The Lord has been so good to me!
How can I ever pay him back?
13I will bring an offering of wine to the Lord
and thank him for saving me.
I will worship him.
14In front of all the Lord’s people,
I will do what I promised him.
15The Lord pays special attention
when his faithful people die.
16Lord, I serve you.
I serve you just as my mother did.
You have set me free from the chains of my suffering.
17Lord, I will sacrifice a thank offering to you.
I will worship you.
18In front of all the Lord’s people,
I will do what I promised him.
19I will keep my promise in the courtyards of the Lord’s temple.
I will keep my promise in Jerusalem itself.
Praise the Lord.

1Yo amo al Señor
porque él escucha116:1 Yo amo … él escucha. Lit. Yo amo porque el Señor escucha. mi voz suplicante.
2Por cuanto él inclina a mí su oído,
lo invocaré toda mi vida.
3Los lazos de la muerte me enredaron;
me sorprendió la angustia del sepulcro,
y caí en la ansiedad y la aflicción.
4Entonces clamé al Señor:
«¡Te ruego, Señor, que me salves la vida!»
5El Señor es compasivo y justo;
nuestro Dios es todo ternura.
6El Señor protege a la gente sencilla;
estaba yo muy débil, y él me salvó.
7¡Ya puedes, alma mía, estar tranquila,
que el Señor ha sido bueno contigo!
8Tú, Señor, me has librado de la muerte,
has enjugado mis lágrimas,
no me has dejado tropezar.
9Por eso andaré siempre delante del Señor
en esta tierra de los vivos.
10Aunque digo: «Me encuentro muy afligido»,
sigo creyendo en Dios.
11En mi desesperación he exclamado:
«Todos son unos mentirosos».
12¿Cómo puedo pagarle al Señor
por tanta bondad que me ha mostrado?
13¡Tan solo brindando con la copa de salvación
e invocando el nombre del Señor!
14¡Tan solo cumpliendo mis promesas al Señor
en presencia de todo su pueblo!
15Mucho valor tiene a los ojos del Señor
la muerte de sus fieles.
16Yo, Señor, soy tu siervo;
soy siervo tuyo, tu hijo fiel;116:16 tu hijo fiel. Lit. hijo de tu sierva.
¡tú has roto mis cadenas!
17Te ofreceré un sacrificio de gratitud
e invocaré, Señor, tu nombre.
18Cumpliré mis votos al Señor
en presencia de todo su pueblo,
19en los atrios de la casa del Señor,
en medio de ti, oh Jerusalén.
¡Aleluya! ¡Alabado sea el Señor!
