Israel Arrives at the Borders of Canaan
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Give the Israelites a command. Tell them, ‘You are going to enter Canaan. The land will be given to you as your own. Here are the borders it must have.
3“ ‘Your southern border will include part of the Desert of Zin. It will be along the border of Edom. Your southern border will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea. 4It will cross south of Scorpion Pass. It will continue on to Zin. From there it will go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon. 5There it will turn and join the Wadi of Egypt. It will come to an end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6Your western border will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. That will be your border on the west.
7For your northern border, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor. 8Continue it from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the border will go to Zedad. 9It will continue to Ziphron. It will come to an end at Hazar Enan. That will be your border on the north.
10For your eastern border, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. 11The border will go down from Shepham to Riblah. Riblah is on the east side of Ain. From there the border will continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee. 12Then the border will go down along the Jordan River. It will come to an end at the Dead Sea.
“ ‘That will be your land. And those will be its borders on every side.’ ”
13Moses gave the Israelites a command. He said, “Cast lots when you divide up the land. Each tribe will have its own share. The Lord has ordered it to be given to the nine and a half tribes. 14The families of the tribes of Reuben and Gad have already received their shares. The families of half of the tribe of Manasseh have also received their share. 15Those two and a half tribes have received their shares east of the Jordan River. It flows near Jericho. Their land is toward the sunrise.”
16The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 17“Here are the names of the men who will give out the shares of the land to your people. They are Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun. 18Also appoint one leader from each of the nine and a half tribes. They will help you give out the land.
19“Here are their names.
“Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, is from the tribe of Judah.
20Shemuel, the son of Ammihud, is from the tribe of Simeon.
21Elidad, the son of Kislon, is from the tribe of Benjamin.
22Bukki, the son of Jogli, is the leader from the tribe of Dan.
23Hanniel, the son of Ephod, is the leader from the tribe of Manasseh. Manasseh was the son of Joseph.
24Kemuel, the son of Shiphtan, is the leader from the tribe of Ephraim. Ephraim was the son of Joseph.
25Elizaphan, the son of Parnak, is the leader from the tribe of Zebulun.
26Paltiel, the son of Azzan, is the leader from the tribe of Issachar.
27Ahihud, the son of Shelomi, is the leader from the tribe of Asher.
28Pedahel, the son of Ammihud, is the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29These are the men the Lord commanded to give out the shares of the land. They were commanded to give them to Israel in the land of Canaan.
Fronteras de Canaán
1El Señor dijo a Moisés: 2«Hazles saber a los israelitas que las fronteras de Canaán, la tierra que van a recibir en heredad, serán las siguientes:
3»La frontera sur empezará en el desierto de Zin, en los límites con Edom. Por el este, la frontera sur estará donde termina el mar Muerto. 4A partir de allí, la línea fronteriza avanzará hacia el sur, hacia la cuesta de los Escorpiones, cruzará Zin hasta alcanzar Cades Barnea, y llegará hasta Jazar Adar y Asmón. 5De allí la frontera se volverá hacia el torrente de Egipto, para terminar en el mar Mediterráneo.
6La frontera occidental del país será la costa del mar Mediterráneo.
7Para la frontera norte, la línea fronteriza correrá desde el mar Mediterráneo hasta el monte Hor, 8y desde el monte Hor hasta Lebó Jamat.34:8 Lebó Jamat. Alt. la entrada de Jamat. De allí, esta línea seguirá hasta llegar a Zedad, 9para continuar hasta Zifrón y terminar en Jazar Enán. Esta será la frontera norte del país.
10Para la frontera oriental, la línea fronteriza correrá desde Jazar Enán hasta Sefán. 11De Sefán bajará a Riblá, que está al este de Ayin; de allí descenderá al este, hasta encontrarse con la ribera del lago Quinéret,34:11 lago Quinéret. Es decir, lago de Galilea. 12y de allí la línea bajará por el río Jordán, hasta el mar Muerto.
»Esas serán las cuatro fronteras del país».
13Moisés dio a los israelitas la siguiente orden: «Esta es la tierra que se repartirá por sorteo. El Señor ha ordenado que sea repartida solo entre las nueve tribus y media, 14pues las familias patriarcales de las tribus de Rubén, Gad y la media tribu de Manasés ya recibieron su heredad. 15Estas dos tribus y media ya tienen su heredad en el este, cerca del río Jordán, a la altura de Jericó, por donde sale el sol».
Repartición de la tierra
16El Señor dijo a Moisés: 17«Estos son los nombres de los encargados de repartir la tierra como heredad: el sacerdote Eleazar y Josué, hijo de Nun. 18Ustedes, por su parte, tomarán a un jefe de cada tribu para que les ayuden a repartir la tierra.
19»Los nombres de los jefes de tribu fueron los siguientes:
»Caleb, hijo de Jefone, de la tribu de Judá;
20Samuel, hijo de Amiud, de la tribu de Simeón;
21Elidad, hijo de Quislón, de la tribu de Benjamín;
22Buquí, hijo de Joglí, jefe de la tribu de Dan;
23Janiel, hijo de Efod, jefe de la tribu de Manasés hijo de José;
24Quemuel, hijo de Siftán, jefe de la tribu de Efraín, hijo de José;
25Elizafán, hijo de Parnac, jefe de la tribu de Zabulón;
26Paltiel, hijo de Azán, jefe de la tribu de Isacar;
27Ajiud, hijo de Selomí, jefe de la tribu de Aser;
28Pedael, hijo de Amiud, jefe de la tribu de Neftalí».
29A estos encargó el Señor repartir la heredad entre los israelitas, en la tierra de Canaán.
