Israel Arrives at the Borders of Canaan
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Give the Israelites a command. Tell them, ‘You are going to enter Canaan. The land will be given to you as your own. Here are the borders it must have.
3“ ‘Your southern border will include part of the Desert of Zin. It will be along the border of Edom. Your southern border will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea. 4It will cross south of Scorpion Pass. It will continue on to Zin. From there it will go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon. 5There it will turn and join the Wadi of Egypt. It will come to an end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6Your western border will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. That will be your border on the west.
7For your northern border, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor. 8Continue it from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the border will go to Zedad. 9It will continue to Ziphron. It will come to an end at Hazar Enan. That will be your border on the north.
10For your eastern border, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. 11The border will go down from Shepham to Riblah. Riblah is on the east side of Ain. From there the border will continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee. 12Then the border will go down along the Jordan River. It will come to an end at the Dead Sea.
“ ‘That will be your land. And those will be its borders on every side.’ ”
13Moses gave the Israelites a command. He said, “Cast lots when you divide up the land. Each tribe will have its own share. The Lord has ordered it to be given to the nine and a half tribes. 14The families of the tribes of Reuben and Gad have already received their shares. The families of half of the tribe of Manasseh have also received their share. 15Those two and a half tribes have received their shares east of the Jordan River. It flows near Jericho. Their land is toward the sunrise.”
16The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 17“Here are the names of the men who will give out the shares of the land to your people. They are Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun. 18Also appoint one leader from each of the nine and a half tribes. They will help you give out the land.
19“Here are their names.
“Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, is from the tribe of Judah.
20Shemuel, the son of Ammihud, is from the tribe of Simeon.
21Elidad, the son of Kislon, is from the tribe of Benjamin.
22Bukki, the son of Jogli, is the leader from the tribe of Dan.
23Hanniel, the son of Ephod, is the leader from the tribe of Manasseh. Manasseh was the son of Joseph.
24Kemuel, the son of Shiphtan, is the leader from the tribe of Ephraim. Ephraim was the son of Joseph.
25Elizaphan, the son of Parnak, is the leader from the tribe of Zebulun.
26Paltiel, the son of Azzan, is the leader from the tribe of Issachar.
27Ahihud, the son of Shelomi, is the leader from the tribe of Asher.
28Pedahel, the son of Ammihud, is the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29These are the men the Lord commanded to give out the shares of the land. They were commanded to give them to Israel in the land of Canaan.
Hotarele Canaanului
1Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 2„Poruncește‑le fiilor lui Israel și spune‑le: «Când veți intra în țara Canaan, aceasta este țara care v‑a căzut ca moștenire, țara Canaan, potrivit hotarelor ei:
3Partea de sud să se întindă de la pustia Țin până la hotarul Edomului. Astfel, hotarul vostru de sud va începe de la marginea Mării Sărate3, 12 Marea Moartă. spre răsărit, 4va trece pe la sud de Înălțimea Scorpionului4 Ebr.: Aqrabbim și va continua spre Țin până la sud de Kadeș-Barnea. Apoi va trece prin Hațar-Adar spre Ațmon, 5unde se va întoarce până la Râul Egiptului5 Modernul Wadi el‑Arish, în NE Sinaiului, sau chiar brațul răsăritean al Deltei Nilului. și se va sfârși la mare5 Marea Mediterană..
6Hotarul de apus va fi Marea cea Mare6-7 Marea Mediterană.. Acesta vă va fi hotarul de apus.
7Pentru hotarul de nord, trageți o linie de la Marea cea Mare la muntele Hor, 8de la muntele Hor la Lebo-Hamat.8 Sau: intrarea în Hamat. Apoi hotarul va ajunge la Țedad, 9va continua la Zifron și va sfârși la Hațar-Enan. Acesta să vă fie hotarul de nord.
10Pentru hotarul de răsărit, trageți o linie de la Hațar-Enan la Șefam. 11Hotarul va coborî de la Șefam la Ribla, la răsărit de Ayin, și va continua pe marginea de răsărit a mării Chineret11 Marea Galileei.. 12Apoi hotarul va coborî de‑a lungul Iordanului și se va sfârși la Marea Sărată. Aceasta va fi țara voastră, cu hotarele ei de jur împrejur.»“
13Moise le‑a poruncit fiilor lui Israel, zicând: „Aceasta este țara pe care o veți lua în stăpânire prin sorți. Domnul a poruncit să fie dată la nouă seminții și jumătate, 14căci seminția urmașilor lui Ruben, potrivit familiilor lor, seminția urmașilor lui Gad, potrivit familiilor lor și jumătate din seminția lui Manase și‑au primit moștenirea. 15Aceste două seminții și jumătate și‑au primit moștenirea la răsărit de Iordan, în fața Ierihonului, spre răsărit.“
Numele celor care trebuie să împartă țara
16Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 17„Iată numele bărbaților care trebuie să vă împartă țara: preotul Elazar și Iosua, fiul lui Nun. 18Să numești împreună cu ei câte un conducător din fiecare seminție, care să‑i ajute la împărțirea țării. 19Iată numele acestor bărbați:
Caleb, fiul lui Iefune,
din seminția lui Iuda;
20Samuel, fiul lui Amihud,
din seminția lui Simeon;
21Elidad, fiul lui Chislon,
din seminția lui Beniamin;
22Buchi, fiul lui Iogli,
conducător din seminția fiilor lui Dan;
23Haniel, fiul lui Efod,
conducător din seminția lui Manase, fiul lui Iosif;
24Chemuel, fiul lui Șiftan,
conducător din seminția lui Efraim, fiul lui Iosif;
25Elițafan, fiul lui Parnak,
conducător din seminția lui Zabulon;
26Paltiel, fiul lui Azan,
conducător din seminția lui Isahar;
27Ahihud, fiul lui Șelomi,
conducător din seminția lui Așer;
28Pedahel, fiul lui Amihud,
conducător din seminția lui Neftali.“
29Aceștia sunt cei cărora Domnul le‑a poruncit să le împartă fiilor lui Israel moștenirea în țara Canaan.
