Jesus’ Appearance Is Changed
1After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John the brother of James with him. He led them up a high mountain. They were all alone. 2There in front of them his appearance was changed. His face shone like the sun. His clothes became as white as the light. 3Just then Moses and Elijah appeared in front of them. Moses and Elijah were talking with Jesus.
4Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters. One will be for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him. Listen to him!”
6When the disciples heard this, they were terrified. They fell with their faces to the ground. 7But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” 8When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
9They came down the mountain. On the way down, Jesus told them what to do. “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen,” he said. “Wait until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
10The disciples asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah has to come first?”
11Jesus replied, “That’s right. Elijah is supposed to come and make all things new again. 12But I tell you, Elijah has already come. People didn’t recognize him. They have done to him everything they wanted to do. In the same way, they are going to make the Son of Man suffer.” 13Then the disciples understood that Jesus was talking to them about John the Baptist.
Jesus Heals a Boy Who Is Controlled by a Demon
14When they came near the crowd, a man approached Jesus. He got on his knees in front of him. 15“Lord,” he said, “have mercy on my son. He shakes wildly and suffers a great deal. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16I brought him to your disciples. But they couldn’t heal him.”
17“You unbelieving and evil people!” Jesus replied. “How long do I have to stay with you? How long do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18Jesus ordered the demon to leave the boy, and it came out of him. He was healed at that moment.
19Then the disciples came to Jesus in private. They asked, “Why couldn’t we drive out the demon?”
20-21He replied, “Because your faith is much too small. What I’m about to tell you is true. If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, it is enough. You can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there.’ And it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Jesus Speaks a Second Time About His Coming Death
22They came together in Galilee. Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be handed over to men. 23They will kill him. On the third day he will rise from the dead.” Then the disciples were filled with deep sadness.
Jesus Pays the Temple Tax
24Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum. There the people who collect the temple tax came to Peter. They asked him, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?”
25“Yes, he does,” he replied.
When Peter came into the house, Jesus spoke first. “What do you think, Simon?” he asked. “Who do the kings of the earth collect taxes and fees from? Do they collect them from their own children or from others?”
26“From others,” Peter answered.
“Then the children don’t have to pay,” Jesus said to him. 27“But we don’t want to make them angry. So go to the lake and throw out your fishing line. Take the first fish you catch. Open its mouth. There you will find the exact coin you need. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”
Schimbarea la față
(Mc. 9:2-13; Lc. 9:28-36)
1După șase zile, Isus i-a luat cu Sine pe Petru, pe Iacov și pe Ioan, fratele acestuia, și i-a dus deoparte, pe un munte înalt. 2Acolo I s-a schimbat înfățișarea înaintea lor. Fața Lui a strălucit ca soarele, iar hainele Lui au devenit strălucitoare ca lumina. 3Și iată că li s-au arătat Moise și Ilie, stând de vorbă cu El.
4Petru I-a zis4 Lit.: Petru, răspunzând, I-a zis. lui Isus:
– Doamne, este bine să fim aici! Dacă vrei, voi face aici trei corturi: unul pentru Tine, unul pentru Moise și unul pentru Ilie.
5În timp ce vorbea el, iată că un nor strălucitor i-a acoperit. Și iată că un glas din nor a zis: „Acesta este Fiul Meu preaiubit, în Care-Mi găsesc plăcerea! De El să ascultați!5 Vezi Deut. 18:15.“
6Când au auzit glasul, ucenicii s-au aruncat cu fața la pământ și s-au înspăimântat foarte tare.
7Dar Isus S-a apropiat și i-a atins, zicând:
– Ridicați-vă și nu vă temeți!
8Când și-au ridicat privirea, n-au mai văzut pe nimeni în afară de Isus singur.
9În timp ce coborau de pe munte, Isus le-a poruncit, zicând:
– Să nu spuneți nimănui despre această viziune, până când nu va fi înviat Fiul Omului dintre cei morți.
10Ucenicii L-au întrebat, zicând:
– Atunci de ce spun cărturarii că trebuie să vină mai întâi Ilie?
11Isus, răspunzând, a zis:
– Într-adevăr, Ilie vine și va reașeza toate lucrurile. 12Dar Eu vă spun că Ilie a venit deja, însă ei nu l-au recunoscut, ci au făcut cu el tot ce-au vrut. Tot așa urmează să sufere și Fiul Omului din cauza lor.
13Atunci ucenicii au înțeles că le vorbise despre Ioan Botezătorul.
Vindecarea unui băiat demonizat
(Mc. 9:14-29; Lc. 9:37-43)
14Când au ajuns la mulțime, un om s-a apropiat de El, a îngenuncheat înaintea Lui 15și I-a zis:
– Doamne, ai milă de fiul meu, căci este epileptic15 Vezi nota de la 4:24. și suferă cumplit! Cade adesea în foc și adesea în apă! 16L-am adus la ucenicii Tăi, dar n-au putut să-l vindece.
17Isus, răspunzând, a zis:
– O, generație necredincioasă și pervertită! Până când voi mai fi cu voi? Până când vă voi mai îngădui? Aduceți-l aici la Mine!
18Isus a mustrat demonul, iar acesta a ieșit din el. Și băiatul a fost vindecat chiar în ceasul acela.
19Atunci ucenicii s-au dus deoparte la Isus și au zis:
– Noi de ce n-am putut să-l alungăm?
20El le-a răspuns:
– Din cauza puținei voastre credințe. Adevărat vă spun că, dacă ați avea credință ca un bob de muștar20 Sămânța de muștar este folosită ca metaforă a micimii și a lucrului neînsemnat atât în evanghelii (Matei, Marcu și Luca), cât și în scrierile rabinice. În cazul de față, accentul nu cade pe mărimea credinței, ci pe prezența ei și pe capacitatea ei de a lucra., ați zice acestui munte: „Mută-te de aici, acolo!“, iar el s-ar muta. Nimic nu v-ar fi imposibil! 21Dar acest fel de demoni nu ies afară decât prin rugăciune și post.
Isus vorbește din nou despre moartea și învierea Sa
(Mc. 9:30-32; Lc. 9:43-45)
22În timp ce erau adunați în Galileea, Isus le-a zis: „Fiul Omului urmează să fie predat22 Verbul poate însemna și a trăda. Totuși, sensul literal este a preda. în mâinile oamenilor. 23Ei Îl vor omorî, dar a treia zi va fi înviat.“ Ei s-au întristat foarte tare.
Taxa pentru Templu
24Când au ajuns în Capernaum, au venit la Petru cei ce încasau cele două drahme24 Gr.: didrachma, echivalentul a jumătate de șechel sau a 2 denari, echivalentul plății pentru 2 zile de muncă; taxa anuală, cerută fiecărui bărbat de peste 20 ani (vezi Ex. 30:13; 2 Cron. 24:9; Neem. 10:32). În regiune, în perioada NT, circulau trei tipuri de monede: cele imperiale (după standard roman), cele provinciale (după standard grecesc) și cele locale (șechelul). pentru Templu și l-au întrebat:
– Învățătorul vostru nu plătește cele două drahme pentru Templu?
25El le-a răspuns:
– Ba da.
Când Petru a intrat în casă, Isus i-a luat-o înainte, zicând:
– Ce crezi, Simone? De la cine strâng regii pământului tributuri sau taxe? De la fiii lor sau de la străini?
26Petru I-a răspuns:
– De la străini.
Isus i-a zis:
– Așadar, fiii sunt liberi. 27Totuși, ca să nu-i facem să se poticnească, du-te la mare, aruncă undița și trage afară primul pește care va veni. Când îi vei deschide gura, vei găsi un stater27 Monedă din argint valorând o tetradrahmă (2 didrahme).. Ia-l și dă-li-l lor pentru Mine și pentru tine.
