Jesus Heals on the Sabbath Day
1Another time Jesus went into the synagogue. A man with a weak and twisted hand was there. 2Some Pharisees were trying to find fault with Jesus. They watched him closely. They wanted to see if he would heal the man on the Sabbath day. 3Jesus spoke to the man with the weak and twisted hand. “Stand up in front of everyone,” he said.
4Then Jesus asked them, “What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we kill?” But no one answered.
5Jesus looked around at them in anger. He was very upset because their hearts were stubborn. Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand had become as good as new. 6Then the Pharisees went out and began to make plans with the Herodians. They wanted to kill Jesus.
Crowds Follow Jesus
7Jesus went off to the Sea of Galilee with his disciples. A large crowd from Galilee followed. 8People heard about all that Jesus was doing. And many came to him. They came from Judea, Jerusalem and Idumea. They came from the lands east of the Jordan River. And they came from the area around Tyre and Sidon. 9Because of the crowd, Jesus told his disciples to get a small boat ready for him. This would keep the people from crowding him. 10Jesus had healed many people. So those who were sick were pushing forward to touch him. 11When people controlled by evil spirits saw him, they fell down in front of him. The spirits shouted, “You are the Son of God!” 12But Jesus ordered them not to tell people about him.
Jesus Appoints the Twelve Disciples
13Jesus went up on a mountainside. He called for certain people to come to him, and they came. 14He appointed 12 of them so that they would be with him. He would also send them out to preach. 15And he gave them authority to drive out demons.
16So Jesus appointed the 12 disciples.
Simon was one of them. Jesus gave him the name Peter.
17There were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. Boanerges means Sons of Thunder.
18There were also Andrew,
Philip,
Bartholomew,
Matthew,
Thomas,
and James, son of Alphaeus.
And there were Thaddaeus
and Simon the Zealot.
19Judas Iscariot was one of them too. He was the one who was later going to hand Jesus over to his enemies.
Jesus Is Accused by Teachers of the Law
20Jesus entered a house. Again a crowd gathered. It was so large that Jesus and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21His family heard about this. So they went to take charge of him. They said, “He is out of his mind.”
22Some teachers of the law were there. They had come down from Jerusalem. They said, “He is controlled by Beelzebul! He is driving out demons by the power of the prince of demons.”
23So Jesus called them over to him. He began to speak to them using stories. He said, “How can Satan drive out Satan? 24If a kingdom fights against itself, it can’t stand. 25If a family is divided, it can’t stand. 26And if Satan fights against himself, and his helpers are divided, he can’t stand. That is the end of him. 27In fact, none of you can enter a strong man’s house unless you tie him up first. Then you can steal things from his house. 28What I’m about to tell you is true. Everyone’s sins and evil words against God will be forgiven. 29But whoever speaks evil things against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. Their guilt will last forever.”
30Jesus said this because the teachers of the law were saying, “He has an evil spirit.”
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
31Jesus’ mother and brothers came and stood outside. They sent someone in to get him. 32A crowd was sitting around Jesus. They told him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside. They are looking for you.”
33“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” he asked.
34Then Jesus looked at the people sitting in a circle around him. He said, “Here is my mother! Here are my brothers! 35Anyone who does what God wants is my brother or sister or mother.”
Jesus botar en man på sabbaten
(Matt 12:9-14; Luk 6:6-11)
1En annan gång gick Jesus in i en synagoga, och där var en man som hade en förtvinad hand.
2De höll noga ögonen på honom för att se om han skulle bota mannen på sabbaten, så att de skulle få något att anklaga honom för.
3Men Jesus sa till mannen med den förtvinade handen: ”Res dig upp och kom hit fram.” 4Sedan frågade han dem: ”Vad är tillåtet att göra på sabbaten, göra gott eller ont, rädda liv eller döda någon?” Men ingen ville säga något. 5Då såg han på dem med vrede, djupt bedrövad över hårdheten i deras hjärtan. Sedan sa han till mannen: ”Räck fram din hand!” Och då mannen gjorde det, blev handen normal igen.
6Men fariseerna gick ut och började genast göra upp planer tillsammans med Herodes anhängare3:6 Herodes anhängare stödde romarna. De ville få bort Jesus av politiska skäl, eftersom de trodde att han skulle göra uppror mot romarna. på hur de skulle få Jesus dödad.
Mycket folk följer Jesus
(Matt 4:23-25; 12:15-16; Luk 6:17-19)
7Jesus och hans lärjungar drog sig nu till sjön, och massor av människor från Galileen, men också från Judeen, 8Jerusalem och Idumeen, från andra sidan Jordan och ända bortifrån Tyros och Sidon, följde honom när de hörde om allt han gjorde.
9Jesus bad sina lärjungar att ha en båt färdig, för att han skulle slippa bli trängd av folkmassan. 10Många människor hade blivit botade, och de sjuka trängde därför på från alla håll för att röra vid honom.
11När de orena andarna fick syn på honom, föll de ner vid hans fötter och ropade: ”Du är Guds Son!” 12Men Jesus förbjöd dem strängt att avslöja vem han var.
Jesus utser sina tolv lärjungar
(Matt 10:2-4; Luk 6:14-16; Apg 1:13)
13Sedan gick Jesus upp på ett berg och tog med sig några som han hade valt ut. När de kom till honom, 14utsåg han tolv av dem, som han kallade apostlar, till att följa honom och sändas ut för att predika, 15och han gav dem makt att driva ut onda andar.3:15 En del handskrifter tillägger: Han kallade dem sina apostlar (sändebud). 16De tolv han utsåg var: Simon, som han gav namnet Petrus, 17Sebedaios söner Jakob och Johannes, som han kallade Boanerges, ”åsksönerna”, 18Andreas, Filippos, Bartolomaios, Matteus, Tomas, Alfaios son Jakob, Taddaios, Simon ”den ivrige”3:18 På grekiska: seloten eller kananaios (det senare bildat av ett arameiskt ord). Simon tillhörde antagligen ”seloterna”, ett politiskt parti som ville göra uppror mot romarna. 19och Judas Iskariot, som senare förrådde Jesus.
Jesus beskylls för att vara i förbund med djävulen
(Matt 12:22-29; Luk 11:14-23; 12:10)
20När Jesus kom hem, började folk att samlas igen, i en sådan mängd att varken han eller hans lärjungar ens fick tid att äta. 21När hans familj fick höra det, gick de dit för att ta hand om honom. ”Han är från sina sinnen!” sa de.
22Men de skriftlärda, som hade kommit från Jerusalem, sa: ”Han är besatt av Beelsebul3:22 Beelsebul , ett hebreiskt avgudanamn som har blivit en synonym till Satan.. Han driver ut de onda andarna med hjälp av de onda andarnas härskare.”
23Jesus kallade då till sig dem och talade till dem i liknelser: ”Hur kan Satan driva ut Satan? 24Ett rike där man strider mot varandra går ju under. 25Och en familj där man strider mot varandra upphör snart att existera. 26Om nu Satan är kluven och strider mot sig själv, då kan han inte bestå, utan det är snart ute med honom. 27Ingen kan gå in i en stark mans hus och plundra honom på vad han äger utan att först binda honom. Sedan kan man plundra hans hus.
28Sannerligen säger jag er: Människor kan få förlåtelse för alla slags synder och hädelser, hur mycket man än hädar. 29Men den som hädar den heliga Anden kan aldrig i evighet få förlåtelse. Då gör man sig skyldig till en evig synd.”
30De hade nämligen sagt att han hade en oren ande.3:30 Här ges den tydligaste förklaringen för den oförlåtliga synden: att medvetet hävda att Jesus agerade i den ondes kraft; jfr Matt 12:31.
Jesus riktiga familj
(Matt 12:46-50; Luk 8:19-21)
31Nu kom Jesus mor och hans bröder och stannade utanför och skickade bud till honom för att kalla på honom.
32Skaran som satt runt Jesus sa då till honom: ”Din mor och dina bröder står här utanför och frågar efter dig.” 33Men han svarade: ”Min mor och mina bröder! Vilka är det?” 34Sedan såg han på dem som satt runt omkring honom och sa: ”Det här är min mor och mina syskon. 35Var och en som gör Guds vilja är min bror och min syster och min mor.”
