Jesus Heals on the Sabbath Day
1Another time Jesus went into the synagogue. A man with a weak and twisted hand was there. 2Some Pharisees were trying to find fault with Jesus. They watched him closely. They wanted to see if he would heal the man on the Sabbath day. 3Jesus spoke to the man with the weak and twisted hand. “Stand up in front of everyone,” he said.
4Then Jesus asked them, “What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we kill?” But no one answered.
5Jesus looked around at them in anger. He was very upset because their hearts were stubborn. Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand had become as good as new. 6Then the Pharisees went out and began to make plans with the Herodians. They wanted to kill Jesus.
Crowds Follow Jesus
7Jesus went off to the Sea of Galilee with his disciples. A large crowd from Galilee followed. 8People heard about all that Jesus was doing. And many came to him. They came from Judea, Jerusalem and Idumea. They came from the lands east of the Jordan River. And they came from the area around Tyre and Sidon. 9Because of the crowd, Jesus told his disciples to get a small boat ready for him. This would keep the people from crowding him. 10Jesus had healed many people. So those who were sick were pushing forward to touch him. 11When people controlled by evil spirits saw him, they fell down in front of him. The spirits shouted, “You are the Son of God!” 12But Jesus ordered them not to tell people about him.
Jesus Appoints the Twelve Disciples
13Jesus went up on a mountainside. He called for certain people to come to him, and they came. 14He appointed 12 of them so that they would be with him. He would also send them out to preach. 15And he gave them authority to drive out demons.
16So Jesus appointed the 12 disciples.
Simon was one of them. Jesus gave him the name Peter.
17There were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. Boanerges means Sons of Thunder.
18There were also Andrew,
Philip,
Bartholomew,
Matthew,
Thomas,
and James, son of Alphaeus.
And there were Thaddaeus
and Simon the Zealot.
19Judas Iscariot was one of them too. He was the one who was later going to hand Jesus over to his enemies.
Jesus Is Accused by Teachers of the Law
20Jesus entered a house. Again a crowd gathered. It was so large that Jesus and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21His family heard about this. So they went to take charge of him. They said, “He is out of his mind.”
22Some teachers of the law were there. They had come down from Jerusalem. They said, “He is controlled by Beelzebul! He is driving out demons by the power of the prince of demons.”
23So Jesus called them over to him. He began to speak to them using stories. He said, “How can Satan drive out Satan? 24If a kingdom fights against itself, it can’t stand. 25If a family is divided, it can’t stand. 26And if Satan fights against himself, and his helpers are divided, he can’t stand. That is the end of him. 27In fact, none of you can enter a strong man’s house unless you tie him up first. Then you can steal things from his house. 28What I’m about to tell you is true. Everyone’s sins and evil words against God will be forgiven. 29But whoever speaks evil things against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. Their guilt will last forever.”
30Jesus said this because the teachers of the law were saying, “He has an evil spirit.”
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
31Jesus’ mother and brothers came and stood outside. They sent someone in to get him. 32A crowd was sitting around Jesus. They told him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside. They are looking for you.”
33“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” he asked.
34Then Jesus looked at the people sitting in a circle around him. He said, “Here is my mother! Here are my brothers! 35Anyone who does what God wants is my brother or sister or mother.”
1예수님이 다시 회당에 들어가셨다. 거기에 한쪽 손이 오그라든 사람이 있었다.
2그 날이 안식일이었기 때문에 사람들은 예수님이 그 사람을 고치면 고발하려고 지켜 보고 있었다.
3예수님은 손 오그라든 사람에게 “일어나 앞으로 나오너라” 하시고
4지켜 보는 사람들을 향해 “안식일에 선한 일을 하는 것과 악한 일을 하는 것, 사람을 살리는 것과 죽이는 것 중에 어느 것이 옳으냐?” 하고 물으셨다. 그러나 그들은 아무 대답이 없었다.
5예수님은 노여운 얼굴로 둘러보시고 그들의 고집스런 마음을 슬퍼하시며 병자에게 “네 손을 펴라” 하고 말씀하셨다. 그래서 그가 손을 펴자 오그라든 그의 손이 완전히 회복되었다.
6그러자 바리새파 사람들은 급히 나가서 헤롯 당원들과 만나 예수님을 죽일 방법을 의논하였다.
7예수님이 제자들과 함께 바닷가로 다시 가시자 갈릴리에서 온 많은 사람들이 뒤따랐다.
8또 유대, 예루살렘, 이두매, 요단강 건너편, 두로와 시돈 근처에서도 많은 사람들이 예수님의 하신 일을 듣고 몰려왔다.
9예수님은 몰려드는 사람들을 피하려고 제자들에게 작은 배 한 척을 준비하라고 하셨다.
10예수님이 많은 사람들을 고쳐 주셨으므로 병으로 고생하는 사람들이 예수님을 만지려고 마구 밀어닥쳤다.
11그리고 더러운 귀신 들린 사람들은 예수님을 보기만 하면 그분 앞에 엎드려 “당신은 하나님의 아들입니다” 하고 소리쳤다.
12그래서 예수님은 그들에게 자기가 누구라는 것을 말하지 말라고 엄하게 경고하셨다.
열두 제자를 뽑으심
13예수님은 산에 올라가 자기가 원하는 사람들을 불러모으셨다. 그들이 모두 모이자
14예수님은 열두 제자를 따로 뽑아 자기와 함께 있게 하시고 또 내보내어 전도도 하게 하시며
15귀신을 쫓아내는 권능도 주셨다.
16예수님이 뽑아 세운 이 열두 제자는 이렇다: 베드로라는 이름을 받은 시몬,
17보아너게 곧 우레의 아들이란 이름을 받은 세베대의 두 아들 야고보와 요한,
18안드레, 빌립, 바돌로매, 마태, 도마, 알패오의 아들 야고보, 다대오, 3:18 또는 ‘열심당원’가나안 사람 시몬,
19그리고 예수님을 판 가룟 사람 유다였다.
20예수님이 어느 집에 들어가시자 다시 많은 사람들이 몰려와 예수님 일행은 식사할 겨를도 없었다.
21한편 예수님의 가족은 그분이 미쳤다는 소문을 듣고 붙잡으러 찾아 나섰다.
용서받지 못하는 죄
22예루살렘에서 내려온 3:22 또는 ‘서기관들’율법학자들은 “그에게 3:22 헬 ‘바알세불’사탄이 붙었다” 하며 또 “그가 귀신 의 왕을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아낸다” 하였다.
23그래서 예수님은 그들을 가까이 불러 놓고 비유를 들어 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “사탄이 어떻게 사탄을 쫓아낼 수 있겠느냐?
24한 나라가 서로 싸워 갈라지면 망하고
25한 집안도 서로 싸워 갈라지면 망한다.
26그래서 사탄의 나라도 서로 싸워 갈라지면 오래 가지 못하고 망하는 법이다.
27강한 사람의 집에 들어가 물건을 털어가려고 하면 먼저 그 사람을 잡아 묶어야 한다. 그렇지 않고는 그 집을 털 수가 없다.
28내가 분명히 말해 둔다. 사람에게 대한 모든 죄와 모독은 용서받을 수 있으나
29성령님을 모독하는 자는 절대로 용서받지 못하고 그 죄는 영원히 남는다.”
30예수님이 이렇게 말씀하신 것은 사람들이 “그에게 더러운 귀신이 붙었다” 하고 말했기 때문이다.
31이때 예수님의 어머니와 형제들이 밖에 와서 사람을 시켜 예수님을 부르자
32둘러앉은 사람들이 예수님께 “선생님, 어머니와 형제분들이 밖에서 선생님을 찾고 있습니다” 하고 말하였다.
33그때 예수님은 그들에게 “내 어머니와 형제가 누구냐?” 하시고
34둘러앉은 사람들을 보시며 “보아라, 이들이 내 어머니며 내 형제들이다.
35누구든지 하나님의 뜻을 따라 사는 사람이 내 형제와 자매이며 어머니이다” 하고 말씀하셨다.
