Olive Oil, Bread and Incense
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil made from pressed olives. Use it to keep the lamps burning and giving light all the time. 3Aaron must take care of the lamps in front of the Lord from evening until morning all the time. This is a law that will last for all time to come. The lamps are outside the curtain in front of the tablets of the covenant law in the tent of meeting. 4The lamps are on the pure gold lampstand in front of the Lord. They must be taken care of all the time.
5“Get the finest flour and bake 12 loaves of bread. Use seven pounds of flour for each loaf. 6Arrange them in two stacks. Put six loaves in each stack on the table made out of pure gold. The table stands in front of the Lord. 7By each stack put some pure incense. It will remind you that all good things come from the Lord. Burn the incense in place of the bread. The incense is a food offering presented to the Lord. 8The bread must be set out in front of the Lord regularly. Do it every Sabbath day. It will be Israel’s duty to provide it for all time to come. 9The bread belongs to Aaron and his sons. They must eat it in the holy area. It is a very holy part of their regular share of the food offerings presented to the Lord.”
A Person Who Speaks Evil Is Put to Death
10There was a man who had an Israelite mother. His father was born in Egypt. The man went out among the Israelites. A fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite. 11The son of the Israelite woman spoke evil things against the Lord by using a curse. So the people brought him to Moses. The name of the man’s mother was Shelomith. She was the daughter of Dibri. Dibri was from the tribe of Dan. 12The people kept her son under guard until they could find out what the Lord wanted them to do.
13Then the Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 14“Get the man who spoke evil things against the Lord. Take him outside the camp. All those who heard him say those things must place their hands on his head. Then the whole community must kill him by throwing stones at him. 15Say to the Israelites, ‘Anyone who curses me will be held accountable. 16Anyone who speaks evil things against my Name must be put to death. The whole community must kill them by throwing stones at them. It does not matter whether they are an outsider or an Israelite. When they speak evil things against my Name, they must be put to death.
17“ ‘Anyone who kills another human being must be put to death. 18Anyone who kills someone’s animal must pay its owner. A life must be taken for a life. 19Suppose someone hurts their neighbor. Then what they have done must be done to them. 20A bone must be broken for a bone. An eye must be put out for an eye. A tooth must be knocked out for a tooth. The one who has hurt his neighbor must be hurt in the same way. 21Whoever kills an animal must pay its owner. But if they kill a human being, they must be put to death. 22The same law applies whether they are an outsider or an Israelite. I am the Lord your God.’ ”
23Then Moses spoke to the Israelites. They got the man who had spoken evil things against the Lord. They took him outside the camp. There they killed him by throwing stones at him. The Israelites did just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
As lâmpadas de azeite e o pão consagrado
(Êx 27.20-21)
1O Senhor disse a Moisés: 2“Dá instruções ao povo para que te traga azeite puro para ser usado nas lâmpadas do tabernáculo, para que estejam ardendo continuamente. 3Aarão colocará esta chama eterna no lado de fora do véu que esconde a arca do testemunho, na tenda do encontro, e ocupar-se-ão dela de forma a que brilhe toda a noite diante do Senhor, sem nunca se apagar. Isto é uma lei que nunca será alterada em todas as gerações. 4Será uma chama que arderá eternamente perante o Senhor, por todas as gerações.
5-6Em cada dia de sábado o sumo sacerdote colocará doze pães, em duas fileiras, sobre a mesa de ouro puro que está na presença do Senhor. Estes pães serão cozidos com 4,4 litros de farinha fina cada um. 7Depois será derramado incenso puro sobre cada fileira de pão. Isto será uma oferta queimada, memorial feito no fogo ao Senhor. 8A cada sábado os pães devem ser colocados diante do Senhor, por aliança eterna feita com o povo de Israel. 9O pão será comido por Aarão e pelos seus filhos num lugar especialmente designado para isso, porque se trata de ofertas feitas pelo fogo ao Senhor, constituindo um estatuto permanente, e é algo de santíssimo.”
O castigo por blasfémia
10Certo dia, no acampamento, um rapaz filho de mãe israelita e pai egípcio meteu-se numa briga com um homem de Israel. 11Enquanto se batiam, o filho da israelita blasfemou do nome de Deus e foi trazido a julgamento perante Moisés. O nome da sua mãe era Selomite, filha de Dibri, da tribo de Dan. 12E ficou detido até que o Senhor indicasse o que deveria ser feito.
13Então o Senhor disse a Moisés: 14“Leva-o para fora do acampamento e os que o ouviram que lhe ponham as mãos na cabeça; depois será apedrejado por todo o povo. 15Diz ainda ao povo de Israel que se alguém dirigir ofensas contra o seu Deus, terá de levar o castigo da sua culpa. 16Toda a congregação do povo o apedrejará. É uma lei a ser aplicada tanto ao estrangeiro como ao israelita que blasfemar do nome do Senhor; deverá morrer.
17Da mesma forma, todos os assassinos serão executados. 18Alguém que matar um animal, que não seja seu, terá de restituir com outro vivo. 19Quando alguém ferir o seu próximo, terá de ser ferido da mesma forma que o fez: 20fratura por fratura, olho por olho, dente por dente. O que alguém fizer a outro assim lhe será feito. 21Repito: quem matar um animal deverá restituí-lo por outro e quem matar um ser humano morrerá. 22A mesma lei aplica-se tanto ao estrangeiro como ao que nasceu na terra. Porque eu sou o Senhor, o vosso Deus.”
23E foi assim que levaram o rapaz para fora do acampamento e o apedrejaram, tal como o Senhor ordenara a Moisés.
