A Message About the Philistines
1A message from the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet. It was about the Philistines before Pharaoh attacked the city of Gaza.
2The Lord said,
“The armies of Babylon are like waters rising in the north.
They will become a great flood.
They will flow over the land and everything in it.
They will flow over the towns and those who live in them.
The people will cry out.
All those who live in the land will weep.
3They will weep when they hear galloping horses.
They will weep at the noise of enemy chariots.
They will weep at the rumble of their wheels.
Parents will not even try to help their children.
Their hands will not be able to help them.
4The day has come
to destroy all the Philistines.
The time has come to remove all those
who could help Tyre and Sidon.
I am about to destroy the Philistines.
I will not leave anyone alive
who came from the coasts of Crete.
5The people of Gaza will be so sad
they will shave their heads.
And Ashkelon’s people will be silent.
You who remain on the plain,
how long will you cut yourselves?
6“ ‘Sword of the Lord!’ you cry out.
‘How long will it be until you rest?
Return to the place you came from.
Stop killing us! Be still!’
7But how can his sword rest
when the Lord has given it a command?
He has ordered it
to attack Ashkelon and the Philistine coast.”
블레셋에 대한 심판
1이집트군이 가사를 공격하기 전에 여호와께서 나에게 블레셋 사람들 에 관해서
2다음과 같은 말씀을 주셨다. “보라, 북쪽에서 물이 일어나 홍수처럼 밀어닥쳐 블레셋 땅과 그 가운데 있는 모든 것과 그 성들과 거기에 사는 자들을 모조리 휩쓸어 버릴 것이다. 그때 사람들이 부르짖을 것이며 그 땅의 모든 주민들이 통곡할 것이다.
3달리는 말발굽 소리와 적 전차의 요란한 소리와 전차 바퀴의 덜거덩거리는 소리에 아버지가 손에 맥이 풀려 자식을 돌보지 못할 것이다.
4블레셋 사람들을 모조리 죽이고 두로와 시돈을 도와줄 모든 생존자들까지 파멸시킬 날이 왔다. 나 여호와가 47:4 히 ‘갑돌섬’크레테섬 출신의 남아 있는 모든 블레셋 사람들을 아주 없애 버리겠다.
5가사가 대머리가 되었고 아스글론이 멸망을 당했다. 47:5 또는 ‘그들의 골짜기에 남아 있는 자들아’남아 있는 아낙의 후손들아, 너희가 언제까지 너희 살을 베며 슬퍼하겠느냐?
6너희는 ‘여호와의 칼아, 네가 언제까지 쉬지 않겠느냐? 네 집에 들어가서 가만히 쉬어라’ 하고 말한다.
7그러나 나 여호와가 그렇게 하라고 명령하였으니 어떻게 그것이 쉬겠느냐? 아스글론과 해변가에 사는 자들을 치라고 내가 명령하였다.”
