A List of Nations
1Here is the story of Shem, Ham and Japheth. They were Noah’s sons. After the flood, they also had sons.
The Sons of Japheth
2The sons of Japheth were
Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras.
3The sons of Gomer were
Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah.
4The sons of Javan were
Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites and the Rodanites. 5From these people came the families who lived near the Mediterranean Sea. Each tribe and nation then spread out into its own territory and had its own language.
The Sons of Ham
6The sons of Ham were
Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan.
7The sons of Cush were
Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteka.
The sons of Raamah were
Sheba and Dedan.
8Cush was the father of Nimrod. Nimrod became a mighty hero on the earth. 9He was a mighty hunter in the Lord’s eyes. That’s why people sometimes compare others with Nimrod. They say, “They are like Nimrod, who was a mighty hunter in the Lord’s eyes.” 10The first capital cities of Nimrod’s kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad and Kalneh. These cities were in the land of Babylon. 11From that land he went to Assyria. There he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir and Calah. 12He also built Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah. Nineveh is the most famous city.
13Egypt was the father of
the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, 14Pathrusites, Kasluhites and Caphtorites. The Philistines came from the Kasluhites.
15Canaan was the father of Sidon.
Sidon was his oldest son. Canaan was also the father of the Hittites, 16Jebusites, Amorites and Girgashites. 17And he was the father of the Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, 18Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites.
Later the Canaanite tribes scattered. 19The borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar all the way to Gaza. Then they continued toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim all the way to Lasha.
20These are the sons of Ham. They are listed by their tribes and languages in their territories and nations.
The Sons of Shem
21Sons were also born to Shem, Japheth’s younger brother. All the sons of Eber belonged to Shem’s family line.
22The sons of Shem were
Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.
23The sons of Aram were
Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshek.
24Arphaxad was the father of Shelah.
Shelah was the father of Eber.
25Eber had two sons.
One was named Peleg. That’s because the earth was divided up in his time. His brother was named Joktan.
26Joktan was the father of
Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. They were all sons of Joktan.
30The area where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar. It was in the eastern hill country.
31These are the sons of Shem. They are listed by their tribes and languages in their territories and nations.
32These are the tribes of Noah’s sons. They are listed by their family lines within their nations. From them the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
انشعاب قومهای جهان
(اول تواريخ 1:5-23)
1اينها هستند نسل سام و حام و يافث، پسران نوح، كه بعد از طوفان متولد شدند:
نسل يافث
2پسران10:2 «پسران» می‌تواند به معنی «نسل» يا «اعقاب» و يا «قومها» باشد. همچنين در آيات 3،4،6،7،22،23،26،30. يافث عبارت بودند از: جومر، ماجوج، مادای، ياوان، توبال، ماشَک و تيراس.
3پسران جومر: اَشكناز، ريفات و توجَرمِه.
4پسران ياوان: اليشه، ترشيش، كتيم و رودانيم.
5فرزندان اين افراد به تدریج در سواحل و جزاير دنيا پخش شدند و اقوامی را با زبانهای گوناگون به وجود آوردند.
نسل حام
6پسران حام عبارت بودند از: كوش، مصرايم، فوط و كنعان.
7پسران كوش: سبا، حويله، سبته، رعمه و سبتكا. پسران رعمه: شبا و ددان.
8يكی از فرزندان كوش، شخصی بود به نام نمرود كه در دنيا، دلاوری بزرگ و معروف گشت. 9او با قدرتی كه خداوند به وی داده بود، تيرانداز ماهری شد؛ از اين جهت، وقتی می‌خواهند از مهارتِ تيراندازی كسی تعريف كنند، می‌گويند: «خداوند تو را در تيراندازی مانند نمرود گرداند.» 10قلمرو فرمانروايی او ابتدا شامل بابل، ارک، اكد و كلنه در سرزمين شنعار10:10 شنعار همان سرزمين بابل است. بود. 11-12ولی بعد كشور آشور را نيز به قلمرو خود درآورد و نينوا، رحوبوت عير، كالح و ريسن را (واقع در بين نينوا و كالح) كه با هم شهر بزرگی را تشكيل می‌دادند، در آن كشور بنا كرد.
13-14مصرايم، جد اقوام زير بود: لودی‌ها، عنامی‌ها، لهابی‌ها، نفتوحی‌ها، فتروسی‌ها، كسلوحی‌ها (كه فلسطينی‌ها از اين قوم به وجود آمدند) و كفتوری‌ها.
15-19صيدون پسر ارشد كنعان بود و از كنعان اقوام زير به وجود آمدند: حيتّی‌ها، يبوسی‌ها، اموری‌ها، جرجاشی‌ها، حوّی‌ها، عرقی‌ها، سينی‌ها، اروادی‌ها، صماری‌ها و حماتی‌ها. فرزندان كنعان از سرزمين صيدون به سمت جرار تا غزه و به طرف سدوم و عموره و ادمه و صبوئيم تا به لاشع پراكنده شدند.
20اينها نسل حام بودند كه در قبايل و سرزمينهای خود زندگی می‌كردند و هر يک زبان خاص خود را داشتند.
نسل سام
21از نسل سام، كه برادر بزرگ يافث بود، عابر به وجود آمد (عابر جد عبرانيان است). 22اين است اسامی پسران سام: عيلام، آشور، ارفكشاد، لود و ارام.
23اينانند پسران ارام: عوص، حول، جاتر و ماشک.
24ارفكشاد پدر شالح، و شالح پدر عابر بود.
25عابر صاحب دو پسر شد به نامهای: فالح (يعنی «تفرقه» زيرا در زمان او بود كه مردم دنيا متفرق شدند) و يُقطان.
26-30الموداد، شالف، حضرموت، يارح، هدورام، اوزال، دقله، عوبال، ابيمائيل، شبا، اوفير، حويله و يوباب پسران يُقطان بودند. ايشان از نواحی ميشا تا كوهستانهای شرقی سفاره پراكنده بودند و در آنجا زندگی می‌كردند.
31اينها بودند فرزندان سام كه در قبايل و سرزمينهای خود زندگی می‌كردند و هر يک زبان خاص خود را داشتند.
32همهٔ افرادی كه در بالا نام برده شدند، از نسل نوح بودند كه بعد از طوفان، در دنيا پخش شدند و قومهای گوناگون را به وجود آوردند.
