A River Will Flow From the Temple
1The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple. I saw water flowing east from under a temple gateway. The temple faced east. The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple. It was flowing south of the altar. 2Then he brought me out through the north gate of the outer courtyard. He led me around the outside to the outer gate that faced east. The water was flowing from the south side of the east gate.
3Then the man went toward the east. He had a measuring line in his hand. He measured off 1,700 feet. He led me through water that was up to my ankles. 4Then he measured off another 1,700 feet. He led me through water that was up to my knees. Then he measured off another 1,700 feet. He led me through water that was up to my waist. 5Then he measured off another 1,700 feet. But now it was a river that I could not go across. The water had risen so high that it was deep enough to swim in. 6He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”
Then he led me back to the bank of the river. 7When I arrived there, I saw many trees. They were on both sides of the river. 8The man said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern territory. It goes down into the Arabah Valley. There it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into it, the salt water there becomes fresh. 9Many creatures will live where the river flows. It will have many schools of fish. This water flows there and makes the salt water fresh. So where the river flows everything will live. 10People will stand along the shore to fish. From En Gedi all the way to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading fishnets. The Dead Sea will have many kinds of fish. They will be like the fish in the Mediterranean Sea. 11But none of the swamps will have fresh water in them. They will stay salty. 12Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not dry up. The trees will always have fruit on them. Every month they will bear fruit. The water from the temple will flow to them. Their fruit will be used for food. And their leaves will be used for healing.”
The Borders of the Land
13Here is what the Lord and King says. “People of Israel, here are the borders of the land that you will divide up. You will divide up the land among the 12 tribes of Israel. Each tribe will receive a share. But the family of Joseph will have two shares. 14Divide the land into equal parts. Long ago I raised my hand and made a promise. I promised to give the land to your people of long ago. So all of it will belong to you.
15“Here are the borders of the land.
“On the north side the border will start at the Mediterranean Sea. It will go by the Hethlon road past Lebo Hamath. Then it will continue on to Zedad, 16Berothah and Sibraim. Sibraim is between Damascus and Hamath. The border will reach all the way to Hazer Hattikon. It is right next to Hauran. 17The border will go from the sea to Hazar Enan. It will run north of Damascus and south of Hamath. This will be the northern border.
18On the east side the border will run between Hauran and Damascus. It will continue along the Jordan River between Gilead and the land of Israel. It will reach to the Dead Sea and all the way to Tamar. This will be the eastern border.
19On the south side the border will start at Tamar. It will reach all the way to the waters of Meribah Kadesh. Then it will run along the Wadi of Egypt. It will end at the Mediterranean Sea. This will be the southern border.
20On the west side, the Mediterranean Sea will be the border. It will go to a point across from Lebo Hamath. This will be the western border.
21“You must divide up this land among yourselves. Do this based on the number of men in your tribes. 22Each of the tribes must receive a share of the land. You must also give some land to the outsiders who live among you and who have children. Treat them as if they had been born in Israel. Let them have some land among your tribes. 23Outsiders can live in the land of any tribe. There you must give them their share,” announces the Lord and King.
El río del templo
1El hombre me trajo de vuelta a la entrada del templo, y vi que brotaba agua por debajo del umbral, en dirección al oriente, que es hacia donde da la fachada del templo. El agua corría por la parte baja del lado derecho del templo, al sur del altar. 2Luego el hombre me sacó por la puerta del norte, y me hizo dar la vuelta por fuera, hasta la puerta exterior que mira hacia el oriente; y vi que las aguas fluían del lado sur. 3El hombre salió hacia el oriente con una cuerda en la mano, midió quinientos metros y me hizo cruzar el agua, la cual me llegaba a los tobillos. 4Luego midió otros quinientos metros y me hizo cruzar el agua, que ahora me llegaba a las rodillas. Midió otros quinientos metros, y me hizo cruzar el agua, que esta vez me llegaba a la cintura. 5Midió otros quinientos metros, pero la corriente se había convertido ya en un río que yo no podía cruzar. Había crecido tanto que solo se podía cruzar a nado. 6Entonces me preguntó: «¿Lo has visto, hijo de hombre?»
En seguida me hizo volver a la orilla del río, 7y al llegar vi que en sus márgenes había muchos árboles. 8Allí me dijo: «Estas aguas fluyen hacia la región oriental, descienden hasta el Arabá, y van a dar al Mar Muerto. Cuando desembocan en ese mar, las aguas son saneadas. 9Por donde corra este río, todo ser viviente que en él se mueva vivirá. Habrá peces en abundancia porque el agua de este río será saneada, y todo lo que se mueva en sus aguas vivirá. 10Junto al río se detendrán los pescadores, desde Engadi hasta Eneglayin, porque allí habrá lugar para secar sus redes. Los peces allí serán tan variados y numerosos como en el mar Mediterráneo.47:10 mar Mediterráneo. Lit. mar grande; también en vv. 15,19,20. 11Pero sus pantanos y marismas no serán saneados, sino que quedarán como salinas. 12Junto a las orillas del río crecerá toda clase de árboles frutales; sus hojas no se marchitarán, y siempre tendrán frutos. Cada mes darán frutos nuevos, porque el agua que los riega sale del templo. Sus frutos servirán de alimento y sus hojas serán medicinales.
Los límites del país
13»Así dice el Señor omnipotente: Estos son los límites del país que se repartirá como herencia a las doce tribus de Israel, teniendo en cuenta que a José le tocará una doble porción. 14A vuestros antepasados les juré darles este país como herencia. Ahora cada uno de vosotros recibirá una parte igual, porque este país es vuestra herencia.
15»Por el lado norte, comenzando desde el mar Mediterráneo y pasando por la ciudad de Hetlón hasta la entrada de Zedad, los límites del país serán: 16Jamat, Berotá, Sibrayin —que está entre el territorio de Damasco y el de Jamat— y Jazar Haticón, que limita con Jaurán. 17Así el límite norte se extenderá desde el mar Mediterráneo hasta Jazar Enán. Al norte quedarán los territorios de Jamat y Jaurán.
18»Por el oriente, la frontera entre la tierra de Israel y Jaurán, Damasco y Galaad será el río Jordán hasta la ciudad de Tamar, que está junto al Mar Muerto; este será el lado oriental.
19»Por el sur, la frontera irá desde Tamar hasta el oasis de Meribá Cades, en dirección al torrente de Egipto hasta el mar Mediterráneo. Este será el límite sur.
20»Por el occidente, la frontera será el mar Mediterráneo, desde el límite sur hasta la costa que está a la altura de Lebó Jamat.47:20 Lebó Jamat. Alt. la entrada de Jamat; también en 48:1. Este será el límite occidental.
21»Deberéis repartiros esta tierra entre las doce tribus de Israel. 22La sortearéis como herencia entre vosotros, y entre los extranjeros que habiten entre vosotros y que entre vosotros hayáis tenido, a los cuales deberéis considerar israelitas de nacimiento. Por tanto, estos extranjeros recibirán una herencia con vosotros entre las tribus de Israel. 23Y en la tribu donde esté residiendo el extranjero, allí le daréis su herencia. Lo afirma el Señor omnipotente.
