“Clean” and “Unclean” Food
1You are the children of the Lord your God. Don’t cut yourselves to honor the dead. Don’t shave the front of your heads to honor the dead. 2You are a holy nation. The Lord your God has set you apart for himself. He has chosen you to be his special treasure. He chose you out of all the nations on the face of the earth.
3Don’t eat anything the Lord hates. 4Here are the only animals you can eat. You can eat oxen, sheep, goats, 5deer, gazelles, roe deer, wild goats, ibexes, antelope and mountain sheep. 6You can eat any animal that has a divided hoof. But it must also chew the cud. 7Some animals only chew the cud. Others only have a divided hoof. The camel, rabbit and rock badger chew the cud, but they don’t have a divided hoof. So you can’t eat them. They are not “clean” for you. 8Pigs aren’t “clean” for you either. They have a divided hoof, but they don’t chew the cud. So don’t eat their meat. And don’t touch their dead bodies.
9Many creatures live in water. You can eat all the ones that have fins and scales. 10But don’t eat anything that doesn’t have fins and scales. It isn’t “clean” for you.
11You can eat any “clean” bird. 12But there are many birds you can’t eat. They include eagles, vultures, and black vultures. 13They include red kites, black kites and all kinds of falcons. 14They include all kinds of ravens. 15They include horned owls, screech owls, gulls and all kinds of hawks. 16They include little owls, great owls, white owls 17and desert owls. They include ospreys and cormorants. 18They include storks and all kinds of herons. They also include hoopoes and bats.
19All flying insects are “unclean” for you. So don’t eat them. 20But you can eat any creature that has wings and is “clean.”
21If you find something that’s already dead, don’t eat it. You can give it to an outsider living in any of your towns. They may eat it. Or you can sell it to someone from another country. But you are a holy nation. The Lord your God has set you apart for himself.
Don’t cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Give a Tenth of What You Produce
22Be sure to set apart a tenth of everything your fields produce each year. 23Here are the things you should eat in the sight of the Lord your God. You should eat a tenth part of your grain, olive oil and fresh wine. You should also eat the male animals among your livestock that were born first to their mothers. Eat all these things at the special place the Lord your God will choose. He will put his Name there. You will learn to honor him always. 24But suppose the place the Lord will choose for his Name is too far away from you. And suppose your God has blessed you. And your tenth part is too heavy for you to carry. 25Then sell it for silver. Take the silver with you. Go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26Use the silver to buy anything you like. It can be cattle or sheep. It can be any kind of wine. In fact, it can be anything else you wish. Then you and your family can eat there in the sight of the Lord your God. You can be filled with joy. 27Don’t forget to take care of the Levites who will live in your towns. They won’t receive any part of the land as their share.
28At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of everything you produce that year. Store it in your towns. 29Then the Levites can come and eat. That’s because they won’t receive any part of the land as their share. The outsiders and widows who live in your towns can come. So can the children whose fathers have died. Everyone can have plenty to eat. Then the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.

1“Mga anak kamo sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios. Gani kon magpangasubo kamo sa patay, indi ninyo pagpilasan ang inyo kaugalingon ukon pagkiskisan ang inyo ulo. 2Kay katawhan kamo nga ginseparar para sa Ginoo nga inyo Dios. Sa tanan nga tawo sa kalibutan, kamo ang ginpili sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios nga mangin iya espesyal nga katawhan.
Ang mga Sapat nga Ginakabig nga Matinlo kag Mahigko
(Lev. 11:1-47)
3“Indi kamo magkaon sang bisan ano nga sapat nga ginakabig nga mahigko. 4Amo ini ang mga sapat nga puwede ninyo kaunon: baka, karnero, kanding, 5usa, talunon nga kanding, talunon nga karnero kag iban pa nga klase sang usa.14:5 Ang iban nga mga sapat diri suno sa nasulat sa Hebreo mabudlay kilalahon kag ang iban wala diri sa Pilipinas. 6Puwede ninyo kaunon ang bisan ano nga sapat nga nagapihak ang ila kuko kag nagausang liwat sang ila kinaon. 7Pero indi ninyo pagkaunon ang mga sapat nga nagausang liwat sang ila kinaon pero wala nagapihak ang ila kuko, pareho sang kamelyo, koneho kag badier.14:7 badier: Tan-awa ang footnote sa Lev. 11:4-8. Ini nga mga sapat kabigon ninyo nga mahigko. 8Indi man ninyo pagkaunon ang baboy, kay bisan tuod nga nagapihak ang iya kuko wala ini nagausang liwat sang iya kinaon. Indi gid kamo magkaon sang sini nga mga sapat ukon magtandog sang ila patay nga mga lawas.
9“Puwede ninyo kaunon ang bisan ano nga sapat nga nagakabuhi sa tubig nga may mga sirik kag mga himbis. 10Pero indi gid ninyo pagkaunon ang wala sing sirik kag himbis. Kabigon ninyo ini nga mahigko. 11Puwede ninyo kaunon ang bisan ano nga klase sang pispis nga ginakabig nga matinlo. 12-18Pero indi gid ninyo pagkaunon ang mga agila, mga uwak, mga pispis nga nagakaon sang bangkay sang tawo ukon sapat, mga dapay, mga bukaw, mga murugmon, mga pispis nga nagapangdagit sang mga isda, mga tulabong, mga dugwak14:12-18 sa English, stork. kag mga kabog. 19Indi man ninyo pagkaunon ang mga sapat-sapat nga nagalupad. 20Pero puwede ninyo kaunon ang mga sapat nga nagalupad nga ginakabig nga matinlo.
21“Indi ninyo pagkaunon ang bisan ano nga sapat nga patay na. Puwede ninyo ini ihatag ukon ibaligya sa mga indi Israelinhon nga nagaestar sa inyo mga banwa, kag ila ini kaunon. Pero kamo iya indi gid magkaon sini, kay ginseparar kamo nga katawhan para sa Ginoo nga inyo Dios.
“Indi ninyo paglutua ang tinday nga kanding sa gatas sang iya inang.
Ang Inyo Ikanapulo
22“Kinahanglan nga painon ninyo ang ikanapulo sang tanan nga patubas sang inyo uma kada tuig. 23Dal-a ninyo ang ikanapulo sang inyo mga uyas, duga sang ubas, lana, kag ang kamagulangan sang inyo mga kasapatan sa lugar nga pilion sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios nga sa diin padunggan siya. Kag didto ninyo ini kaunon sa iya presensya. Himuon ninyo ini agod makahibalo kamo magtahod permi sa Ginoo nga inyo Dios. 24Pero kon malayo gani sa inyo ang amo nga lugar nga pilion sang Ginoo, kag mabudlayan kamo sa pagdala sang ikanapulo sang mga pagpakamaayo sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios, 25bayluhan ninyo ang inyo ikanapulo sang kuwarta kag dal-on ninyo ang kuwarta didto sa lugar nga pilion sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios. 26Dayon ibakal ninyo ang kuwarta sang baka, karnero, bino, ukon sang bisan ano nga inyo naluyagan. Dayon kaunon ninyo ini sang inyo pamilya sa presensya sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios kag magkinalipay. 27Kag indi ninyo pagkalimtan ang mga Levita nga nagaestar sa inyo mga banwa, kay wala sila sing duta nga palanublion.
28“Sa katapusan sang kada ikatlo nga tuig, tipuna ninyo ang ikanapulo sang inyo patubas sa amo nga tuig, kag dal-a ini sa ginataguan sini sa inyo mga banwa. 29Ihatag ninyo ini sa mga Levita (nga wala sing duta nga palanublion), sa mga indi Israelinhon, sa mga ilo, kag sa mga balo nga babayi nga nagaestar sa inyo mga banwa agod makakaon man sila kag mabusog. Kon himuon ninyo ini, pakamaayuhon kamo sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios sa tanan ninyo nga ginahimo.
