The New Stone Tablets
1At that time the Lord spoke to me. He said, “Carve out two stone tablets, just like the first ones. Then come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark. 2I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you must put the tablets in the ark.”
3So I made the ark out of acacia wood. I carved out two stone tablets that were just like the first ones. I went up the mountain. I carried the two tablets in my hands. 4The Lord wrote on the tablets what he had written before. It was the Ten Commandments. He had announced them to you out of the fire on the mountain. It was on the day you had gathered together there. So the Lord gave the tablets to me. 5Then I came back down the mountain. I put the tablets in the ark I had made, just as the Lord had commanded me. And that’s where they are now.
6Remember how the Israelites traveled from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah. That’s where Aaron died. And his body was buried there. His son Eleazar became the next priest after him. 7From Moserah the people traveled to Gudgodah. Then they went on to Jotbathah. That land has streams of water. 8At that time the Lord set the tribe of Levi apart. He appointed them to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord. He wanted them to serve him. He told them to bless the people in his name. And they still do it today. 9That’s why the Levites don’t have any part of the land the Lord gave the other tribes in Israel. They don’t have any share among them. The Lord himself is their share. That’s what the Lord your God told them.
10I had stayed on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, just as I did the first time. The Lord listened to me that time also. He didn’t want to destroy you. 11“Go,” the Lord said to me. “Lead the people on their way. Then they can enter the land and take it over. I have given my word. I promised I would give the land to their fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”
Honor the Lord
12And now, Israel, what is the Lord your God asking you to do? Honor him. Live exactly as he wants you to live. Love him. Serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. 13Obey the Lord’s commands and rules. I’m giving them to you today for your own good.
14The heavens belong to the Lord your God. Even the highest heavens belong to him. He owns the earth and everything in it. 15But the Lord loved your people of long ago very much. You are their children. And he chose you above all the other nations. His love and his promise remain with you to this very day. 16So don’t be stubborn anymore. Obey the Lord. 17The Lord your God is the greatest God of all. He is the greatest Lord of all. He is the great God. He is mighty and wonderful. He treats everyone the same. He doesn’t accept any money from those who want special favors. 18He stands up for widows and for children whose fathers have died. He loves outsiders living among you. He gives them food and clothes. 19So you also must love outsiders. Remember that you yourselves were outsiders in Egypt. 20Honor the Lord your God. Serve him. Remain true to him. When you make promises, do so in his name. 21He is the one you should praise. He’s your God. With your own eyes you saw the great and amazing things he did for you. 22Long ago, your people went down into Egypt. The total number of them was 70. And now the Lord your God has made you as many as the stars in the sky.
Ang Ikalawang Malalapad na Bato
(Exo. 34:1-10)
1“Nang panahong sinabi sa akin ng Panginoon, ‘Gumawa ka ng dalawang malalapad na bato kagaya noong una, at umakyat ka sa bundok papunta sa akin. Gumawa ka rin ng kahon na yari sa kahoy. 2Isusulat ko sa malalapad na bato ang mga salita na isinulat ko sa unang malalapad na bato na biniyak mo. At ilagay mo ito sa kahon.’
3“Kaya gumawa ako ng kahon na yari sa akasya at ng dalawang malalapad na bato gaya noong una, at umakyat sa bundok dala ang dalawang malalapad na bato. 4Isinulat ng Panginoon sa dalawang malalapad na batong ito ang isinulat niya noong una, ang Sampung Utos na ibinigay niya sa inyo nang nagsalita siya mula sa apoy noong araw na nagtipon kayo sa bundok. Nang maibigay na ito ng Panginoon sa akin, 5bumaba ako sa bundok at inilagay ito sa kahong ginawa ko, ayon sa iniutos ng Panginoon, at hanggang ngayoʼy naroon pa ito.”
6(Naglakbay ang mga Israelita mula sa balon ng mga taga-Jaakan10:6 mga taga-Jaakan: o, mga angkan ni Jaakan. papunta sa Mosera. Doon namatay si Aaron at doon din inilibing. At si Eleazar na anak niya ang pumalit sa kanya bilang punong pari. 7Mula roon, pumunta sila sa Gudgoda at sa Jotbata, isang lugar na may mga sapa. 8Nang panahong iyon, pinili ng Panginoon ang lahi ni Levi para sila ang magbuhat ng Kahon ng Kasunduan ng Panginoon, para maglingkod sa kanyang presensya, at para magbasbas sa mga tao sa kanyang pangalan. At hanggang ngayoʼy ganito ang gawain nila. 9Ito ang dahilan kung bakit walang bahagi o mana ang mga Levita sa lupain, hindi gaya ng ibang mga Israelita. Ang Panginoon ang bahagi nila ayon sa sinabi ng Panginoon na inyong Dios.)
10Sinabi pa ni Moises, “Gaya ng ginawa ko noong una, nanatili ako sa bundok sa loob ng 40 araw at 40 gabi, at muli akong pinakinggan ng Panginoon at hindi niya kayo pinatay. 11Sinabi niya sa akin, ‘Lumakad ka at pamunuan ang mga Israelita sa pagpasok at sa pag-angkin sa lupaing ipinangako kong ibibigay sa inyo at sa inyong mga ninuno.’
Igalang at Sundin ang Panginoon
12“At ngayon, O mga mamamayan ng Israel, ang hinihingi lang ng Panginoon na inyong Dios sa inyo ay igalang ninyo siya, mamuhay ayon sa kanyang pamamaraan, mahalin siya, maglingkod sa kanya nang buong pusoʼt kaluluwa, 13at sundin ang lahat ng mga utos at tuntunin niya na ibinibigay ko sa inyo sa araw na ito para sa ikabubuti ninyo.
14“Sa Panginoon na inyong Dios ang kalangitan, kahit ang pinakamataas na langit, pati ang mundo at lahat ng narito. 15Ngunit pinili ng Panginoon ang inyong mga ninuno para mahalin, at sa lahat ng bansa kayo na mula sa kanilang lahi ang pinili niya hanggang ngayon. 16Kaya baguhin10:16 baguhin: sa literal, tuliin. ninyo ang mga puso ninyo at huwag nang patigasin ang mga ulo ninyo. 17Sapagkat ang Panginoon na inyong Dios ay Dios ng mga dios at Panginoon ng mga panginoon. Makapangyarihan siya at kamangha-manghang Dios. Wala siyang pinapanigan at hindi siya tumatanggap ng suhol. 18Ipinagtatanggol niya ang karapatan ng mga ulila at mga biyuda. Minamahal niya ang mga dayuhan10:18 dayuhan: Ang ibig sabihin, mga dayuhan na naninirahan sa Israel. at binibigyan sila ng pagkain at mga damit. 19Kaya mahalin din ninyo ang mga dayuhan, dahil mga dayuhan din kayo noon sa Egipto. 20Igalang ninyo ang Panginoon na inyong Dios at paglingkuran ninyo siya. Manatili kayo sa kanya at sumumpa kayo sa pangalan lang niya. 21Purihin ninyo siya, dahil siya ang Dios ninyo na gumawa ng dakila at kamangha-manghang bagay na nakita ninyo. 22Nang dumating ang inyong mga ninuno sa Egipto, 70 lang silang lahat, pero ngayon, pinadami na kayo ng Panginoon na inyong Dios na katulad ng mga bituin sa langit.
