Daniel Has a Vision About What Will Happen to Israel
1It was the third year that Cyrus, the king of Persia, ruled over Babylon. At that time I was living in Babylon. There the people called me Belteshazzar. A message from God came to me. It was true. It was about a great war. I had a vision that showed me what it meant.
2At that time I was very sad for three weeks. 3I didn’t eat any rich food. No meat or wine touched my lips. I didn’t use any lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
4I was standing on the bank of the great Tigris River. It was the 24th day of the first month. 5I looked up and saw a man dressed in linen clothes. He had a belt around his waist. It was made out of fine gold from Uphaz. 6His body gleamed like topaz. His face shone like lightning. His eyes were like flaming torches. His arms and legs were as bright as polished bronze. And his voice was like the sound of a large crowd.
7I was the only one who saw the vision. The people who were there with me didn’t see it. But they were so terrified that they ran and hid. 8So I was left alone as I was watching this great vision. I felt very weak. My face turned as pale as death. And I was helpless. 9Then I heard the man speak. As I listened to him, I fell sound asleep. My face was toward the ground.
10A hand touched me. It pulled me up on my hands and knees. I began to tremble with fear. 11The man said, “Daniel, you are highly respected. Think carefully about what I am going to say to you. And stand up. God has sent me to you.” When he said that, I trembled as I stood up.
12He continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. You decided to get more understanding. You made yourself humble as you worshiped your God. Since the first day you did those things, your words were heard. I have come to give you an answer. 13But the prince of Persia opposed me for 21 days. Then Michael came to help me. He is one of the leaders of the angels. He helped me win the battle over the king of Persia. 14Now I have come to explain the vision to you. I will tell you what will happen to your people. The vision shows what will take place in days to come.”
15While he was telling me these things, I bowed with my face toward the ground. I wasn’t able to speak. 16Then someone who looked like a man touched my lips. I opened my mouth. I began to speak to the one who was standing in front of me. I said, “My master, I’m greatly troubled because of the vision I’ve seen. And I feel very weak. 17How can I talk with you? My strength is gone. In fact, I can hardly breathe.”
18The one who looked like a man touched me again. He gave me strength. 19“Do not be afraid,” he said. “You are highly respected. May peace be with you! Be strong now. Be strong.”
When he spoke to me, I became stronger. I said, “Speak, my master. You have given me strength.”
20So he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia. When I go, the prince of Greece will come. 21But first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. No one gives me any help against those princes except Michael. He is your leader.
Revelația cu privire la vecinii lui Israel
1În anul al treilea1 536 î.Cr. al lui Cirus, împăratul Persiei, i‑a fost descoperit un cuvânt lui Daniel, cel care fusese numit Beltșațar. Cuvântul este adevărat și este cu privire la un mare război. El a priceput cuvântul, înțelegerea acestuia venindu‑i printr‑o viziune.
2„În acele zile eu, Daniel, eram în jale de trei săptămâni. 3Nu am mâncat bucate alese, nu mi‑a intrat în gură nici carne, nici vin, și nu m‑am uns deloc, până nu s‑au împlinit cele trei săptămâni.
4În ziua a douăzeci și patra a lunii întâi, mă aflam pe malul râului cel mare, care este Tigrul. 5Mi‑am ridicat ochii, m‑am uitat și iată că acolo era un bărbat îmbrăcat în in. Coapsele lui erau încinse cu aur de Ufaz. 6Trupul lui era asemenea crisolitului, fața lui – ca strălucirea fulgerului, ochii lui – ca torțele de foc, brațele și picioarele lui – ca luciul bronzului lustruit, iar glasul său – ca vuietul mulțimii.
7Numai eu, Daniel, am văzut vedenia. Bărbații care erau cu mine nu au văzut‑o, însă au fost cuprinși de o frică atât de mare, încât au luat‑o la fugă pentru a se ascunde. 8Astfel am fost lăsat singur, privind această mare vedenie. Puterea m‑a părăsit, culoarea feței mi s‑a schimbat ca la un mort și am rămas fără vlagă. 9Am auzit apoi sunetul cuvintelor sale, iar când am auzit sunetul cuvintelor sale, am căzut leșinat9 Vezi nota de la 8:18. cu fața la pământ.
10Atunci o mână m‑a atins și m‑a așezat pe genunchii și pe mâinile mele tremurânde.
11El mi‑a zis:
– Daniel, om de mare preț, ia aminte la cuvintele pe care ți le voi spune! Stai în picioare, căci acum am fost trimis la tine!
Când mi‑a vorbit astfel, m‑am ridicat tremurând.
12Apoi mi‑a zis:
– Nu te teme, Daniel, căci cuvintele tale au fost ascultate chiar din prima zi în care te‑ai hotărât în inima ta să înțelegi și să te smerești înaintea Dumnezeului tău. Cuvintele tale au fost auzite și tocmai datorită lor am venit eu acum. 13Dar căpetenia împărăției Persiei13 Vezi și v. 20. mi s‑a împotrivit timp de douăzeci și una de zile, dar iată că Mihail, una din căpeteniile cele mai de seamă, a venit să mă ajute, căci fusesem lăsat acolo, cu împărații Persiei. 14Acum am venit să te învăț cu privire la ceea ce se va întâmpla cu poporul tău în zilele de pe urmă, căci viziunea se referă tot la acele zile.
15În timp ce îmi spunea cuvintele acestea, mi‑am plecat fruntea la pământ și am rămas mut. 16Dar iată că cineva care era la înfățișare ca un fiu al omului mi‑a atins buzele.
Atunci mi‑am deschis gura, am vorbit și i‑am zis celui ce stătea înaintea mea:
– Stăpâne, la vederea acestei vedenii, m‑am umplut de groază și am rămas fără vlagă. 17Cum ar putea robul stăpânului meu să vorbească cu stăpânul meu? Căci puterea m‑a părăsit și abia mai am suflare.
18Atunci cel care avea înfățișarea ca a unui om m‑a atins din nou și m‑a întărit.
19El mi‑a zis:
– Nu te teme, om de mare preț! Pace ție! Fii tare! Fii puternic!
În timp ce vorbea cu mine, am simțit cum mă întăresc și i‑am zis:
– Vorbește, stăpâne, căci m‑ai întărit!
20El m‑a întrebat:
– Știi de ce am venit la tine? Acum mă voi întoarce să lupt împotriva căpeteniei Persiei, iar, când voi pleca, iată că va veni căpetenia Iavanului20 Grecia.. 21Dar înainte îți voi spune ce este scris în Cartea Adevărului21 Vezi 12:1.. Nimeni nu mă ajută împotriva lor decât Mihail, căpetenia voastră.
