Hezekiah Becomes Sick
1In those days Hezekiah became very sick. He was about to die. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him. Isaiah told Hezekiah, “The Lord says, ‘Put everything in order. Make out your will. You are going to die soon. You will not get well again.’ ”
2Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall. He prayed to the Lord. He said, 3“Lord, please remember how faithful I’ve been to you. I’ve lived the way you wanted me to. I’ve served you with all my heart. I’ve done what is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4Isaiah was leaving the middle courtyard. Before he had left it, a message came to him from the Lord. He said, 5“Go back and speak to Hezekiah. He is the ruler of my people. Tell him, ‘The Lord, the God of King David, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. And I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to my temple. 6I will add 15 years to your life. And I will save you and this city from the power of the king of Assyria. I will guard this city. I will do it for myself. And I will do it for my servant David.” ’ ”
7Then Isaiah said, “Press some figs together. Spread them on a piece of cloth.” So that’s what they did. Then they applied it to Hezekiah’s boil. And he got well again.
8Hezekiah had said to Isaiah, “You say the Lord will heal me. You say that I’ll go up to his temple on the third day from now. What will the sign be to prove he’ll really do that?”
9Isaiah answered, “The Lord will do what he has promised. Here is his sign to you. Do you want the shadow the sun makes to go forward ten steps? Or do you want it to go back ten steps?”
10“It’s easy for the shadow to go forward ten steps,” said Hezekiah. “So have it go back ten steps.”
11Then Isaiah the prophet called out to the Lord. And the Lord made the shadow go back ten steps. It went back the ten steps it had gone down on the stairway Ahaz had made.
Messengers Come From Babylon to Hezekiah
12At that time Marduk-Baladan, the king of Babylon, sent Hezekiah letters and a gift. He had heard that Hezekiah had been sick. Marduk-Baladan was the son of Baladan. 13Hezekiah received the messengers. He showed them everything in his storerooms. He showed them the silver and gold. He showed them the spices and the fine olive oil. He showed them where he kept his weapons. And he showed them all his treasures. In fact, he showed them everything in his palace and in his whole kingdom.
14Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah. He asked him, “What did those men say? Where did they come from?”
“They came from a land far away,” Hezekiah said. “They came from Babylon.”
15The prophet asked, “What did they see in your palace?”
“They saw everything in my palace,” Hezekiah said. “I showed them all my treasures.”
16Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Listen to the Lord’s message. He says, 17‘You can be sure the time will come when everything in your palace will be carried off to Babylon. Everything the kings before you have stored up until this day will be taken away. There will not be anything left,’ says the Lord. 18‘Some of the members of your family line will be taken away. They will be your own flesh and blood. They will include the children who will be born into your family line in years to come. And they will serve the king of Babylon in his palace.’ ”
19“The message the Lord has spoken through you is good,” Hezekiah replied. He thought, “There will be peace and safety while I’m still living.”
20The other events of the rule of Hezekiah are written down. That includes how he made the pool and the tunnel. He used them to bring water into Jerusalem. Everything he accomplished is written in the official records of the kings of Judah. 21Hezekiah joined the members of his family who had already died. Hezekiah’s son Manasseh became the next king after him.
Ang Pagsakit ni Hezekia
(2 Cro. 32:24-26; Isa. 38:1-8, 21-22)

Miadto kaniya si Propeta Isaias nga anak ni Amos ug miingon, “Nagaingon ang Ginoo nga himuon mo na ang angay mong himuon kay dili ka na maulian gikan sa imong sakit—mamatay ka na.” 2Pagkadungog ni Hezekia niini, miatubang siya sa bongbong ug nagaampo sa Ginoo. 3Miingon siya, “Ginoo, hinumdomi nga nagkinabuhi ako nga matinumanon kanimo ug nagaalagad sa kinasingkasing, ug gibuhat ko ang tanan nga makalipay kanimo.” Ug mihilak siya ug kusog.
4Sa wala pa makagawas si Isaias sa tunga-tungang hawanan sa palasyo, miingon ang Ginoo kaniya 5nga mobalik ngadto kang Hezekia, nga pangulo sa katawhan sa Ginoo, ug isulti kini: “Mao kini ang giingon sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa imong katigulangan nga si David: Nadungog ko ang imong pag-ampo ug nakita ko ang imong mga luha. Ayohon ko ikaw. Tulo ka adlaw gikan karon moadto ka sa templo sa Ginoo. 6Dugangan ko pa ug 15 ka tuig ang imong kinabuhi. Luwason ko ikaw ug kining siyudara gikan sa kamot sa hari sa Asiria. Panalipdan ko kining siyudara alang sa akong kadungganan ug tungod kang David nga akong alagad.”
7Giingnan ni Isaias ang mga sulugoon ni Hezekia nga hampolan ang hubag-hubag ni Hezekia ug binulad nga igos. Gituman nila kini, ug naayo siya.
8Sa wala pa kini mahitabo, nangutana si Hezekia kang Isaias, “Unsay timailhan nga maayo ako ug makaadto sa templo sa Ginoo sa ikatulo nga adlaw?” 9Mitubag si Isaias, “Mao kini ang timailhan nga ihatag sa Ginoo sa pagpamatuod nga tumanon niya ang iyang saad. Pagpili: patas-an ug napulo ka lakang ang anino diha sa orasan o pamub-an ug napulo ka lakang?” 10Mitubag si Hezekia, “Sayon rang patas-an ug napulo ka lakang ang anino. Pamub-i na lang kini ug napulo ka lakang!” 11Busa nagaampo si Isaias sa Ginoo, ug gipamub-an sa Ginoo ug napulo ka lakang ang anino diha sa orasan nga gipahimo ni Ahaz.
Ang mga Mensahero Gikan sa Babilonia
12Niadtong higayona, nabalitaan ni Merodac Baladan nga anak ni Haring Baladan sa Babilonia nga nagsakit si Hezekia. Busa nagpadala siya ug mga mensahero nga mohatod ug mga sulat ug gasa alang kang Hezekia. 13Giabiabi ni Hezekia ang mga mensahero ug gipakita niya kanila ang tanang mga butang sa iyang tipiganan sa bahandi—ang mga pilak, mga bulawan, mga pahumot, mga maayong klase sa lana, ang iyang mga armas ug ang uban pa niyang mga bahandi. Ang tanang butang sa iyang palasyo o gingharian iyang gipakita kanila ug wala gayod siyay gitago gikan kanila.
14Unya, miadto si Propeta Isaias kang Haring Hezekia ug nangutana, “Diin gikan kadtong mga tawhana, ug unsay ilang tuyo?” Mitubag si Hezekia, “Gikan sila sa layong dapit, sa Babilonia.” 15Nangutana pa gayod ang propeta, “Unsay ilang nakita dinhi sa imong palasyo?” Mitubag si Hezekia, “Nakita nila ang tanan dinhi sa akong palasyo. Wala gayoy bisan usa sa akong bahandi nga wala ko ipakita kanila.” 16Unya miingon si Isaias kang Hezekia, “Pamatia kining mensahe sa Ginoo: 17Moabot gayod ang panahon nga dad-on ngadto sa Babilonia ang tanang butang sa imong palasyo, ang tanan nga natigom sa imong mga katigulangan nga anaa pa hangtod karon. Wala gayoy mahibilin, ingon sa Ginoo. 18Ug ang uban sa imong umaabot nga mga kaliwat pagabihagon, ug mahimo silang mga alagad sa palasyo sa hari sa Babilonia.” 19Naghunahuna si Hezekia nga may kalinaw ug walay katalagman nga moabot sa iyang panahon. Busa miingon siya kang Isaias, “Maayo kanang mensahe sa Ginoo nga gisulti mo kanako.”
Ang Kataposan sa Paghari ni Hezekia
(2 Cro. 32:32-33)
20Ang uban pang mga sugilanon mahitungod sa paghari ni Hezekia, ug ang tanan niyang gihimo, apil ang iyang pagpahimo sa pundohanan ug tubig ug sa agianan paingon sa siyudad, nahisulat sa libro sa mga sugilanon bahin sa mga hari sa Juda. 21Sa dihang namatay si Hezekia, si Manase nga iyang anak mao ang mipuli kaniya ingon nga hari.
