Living in a Way That Pleases God
1Now I want to talk about some other matters, brothers and sisters. We taught you how to live in a way that pleases God. In fact, that is how you are living. In the name of the Lord Jesus we ask and beg you to do it more and more. 2You know the directions we gave you. They were given by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3God wants you to be made holy. He wants you to stay away from sexual sins. 4He wants all of you to learn to control your own bodies. You must live in a way that is holy. You must live with honor. 5Don’t desire to commit sexual sins like people who don’t know God. 6None of you should sin against your brother or sister by doing that. You should not take advantage of your brother or sister. The Lord will punish everyone who commits these kinds of sins. We have already told you and warned you about this. 7That’s because God chose us to live pure lives. He wants us to be holy. 8Suppose someone refuses to accept our teaching. They are not turning their back on us. They are turning their back on God. This same God gives you his Holy Spirit.
9We don’t need to write to you about your love for one another. God himself has taught you to love one another. 10In fact, you do love all God’s family all around Macedonia. Brothers and sisters, we are asking you to love one another more and more. 11And do everything you can to live a quiet life. You should mind your own business. And work with your hands, just as we told you to. 12Then unbelievers will have respect for your everyday life. And you won’t have to depend on anyone.
What Happens to Believers Who Have Died
13Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again. When he returns, many who believe in him will have died already. We believe that God will bring them back with Jesus. 15This agrees with what the Lord has said. When the Lord comes, many of us will still be alive. We tell you that we will certainly not go up before those who have died. 16The Lord himself will come down from heaven. We will hear a loud command. We will hear the voice of the leader of the angels. We will hear a blast from God’s trumpet. Many who believe in Christ will have died already. They will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them. We will be taken up in the clouds. We will meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with him forever. 18So encourage one another with these words of comfort.
زندگی مطابق خواست خدا
1-2برادران عزيز، اجازه بدهيد نكتهٔ ديگری نيز اضافه كنم: شما به خوبی می‌دانيد كه چگونه در زندگی خود، خدا را خشنود سازيد، زيرا احكامی را كه از جانب عيسای خداوند به شما داده‌ايم، می‌دانيد. اما به نام عيسای خداوند از شما تقاضا می‌كنم كه در اين خصوص كوشش بيشتری بنماييد. 3زيرا اراده و خواست خدا اينست كه پاک باشيد و از هر نوع فساد جنسی خود را دور نگاه داريد. 4هر يک از شما بايد بتواند بر بدن خود مسلط باشد و آن را مقدس و قابل احترام نگاه دارد. 5نگذاريد بدنتان مانند خدانشناسان، اسير شهوات باشد.
6در ضمن، خواست خدا اينست كه كسی همنوع خود را فريب ندهد و زن او را تصاحب نكند، زيرا همانگونه كه قبلاً به شما گفته‌ام، خدا برای اين گونه اعمال، انسان را مجازات خواهد كرد. 7زيرا خدا ما را نخوانده است تا ناپاک و شهوتران باشيم، بلكه پاک و مقدس. 8اگر كسی حاضر نيست مطابق اين احكام زندگی كند، بداند كه با دستورهای انسان مخالفت نمی‌كند بلكه با احكام خدايی كه روح پاكش را به شما عطا كرده است.
9اما دربارهٔ محبت پاک و برادرانه كه بايد در ميان قوم خدا وجود داشته باشد، نيازی نمی‌بينم چيزی بنويسم، زيرا خدا خودش به شما آموخته است كه يكديگر را محبت بنماييد. 10البته شما محبت خود را به تمام مسيحيان ايالت «مقدونيه» نشان داده‌ايد؛ با وجود اين، ای برادران عزيز، از شما تقاضا می‌كنيم ايشان را بيش از اين محبت كنيد. 11هدفتان اين باشد كه زندگی آرامی داشته باشيد، و فقط به كارهای خودتان مشغول باشيد و با دستهای خود امرار معاش كنيد، همانگونه كه قبلاً هم به شما گفته‌ايم. 12به اين ترتيب، غيرمسيحيان نيز به شما اعتماد كرده، احترام خواهند گذاشت. در ضمن، دست نياز به سوی اين و آن دراز نخواهيد كرد.
اميد رستاخيز مردگان
13و اينک برادران عزيز، می‌خواهم كه شما از وضعيت ايماندارانی كه می‌ميرند آگاه باشيد، تا وقتی كسی از شما فوت می‌كند، شما نيز مانند آنانی كه اميدی به عالم آينده ندارند، در غم و غصه فرو نرويد. 14زيرا ما كه ايمان داريم عيسی مرد و پس از مرگ زنده شد، بايد يقين داشته باشيم كه به هنگام بازگشت او، خدا تمام مسيحيانی را كه مرده‌اند، همراه وی به اين جهان باز خواهد آورد.
15اين را من از جانب خداوند می‌گويم: ما كه هنگام بازگشت مسيح خداوند زنده باشيم، زودتر از مردگان به آسمان نخواهيم رفت. 16زيرا صدای فرمان الهی و آوای تكان دهندهٔ رئيس فرشتگان و نوای شيپور خدا شنيده خواهد شد و ناگاه خود خداوند از آسمان به زمين خواهد آمد. آنگاه پيش از همه، مسيحيانی كه مرده‌اند زنده خواهند شد تا خداوند را ملاقات كنند. 17سپس، ما كه هنوز زنده‌ايم و روی زمين باقی هستيم، همراه ايشان در ابرها ربوده خواهيم شد تا همگی، خداوند را در هوا ملاقات كنيم و تا ابد با او باشيم. 18پس با اين سخنان، يكديگر را تشويق كنيد و تسلی دهيد.
