Christ Rose From the Dead
1Brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the good news I preached to you. You received it and have put your faith in it. 2Because you believed the good news, you are saved. But you must hold firmly to the message I preached to you. If you don’t, you have believed it for nothing.
3What I received I passed on to you. And it is the most important of all. Here is what it is. Christ died for our sins, just as Scripture said he would. 4He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as Scripture said he would be. 5He appeared to Peter. Then he appeared to the 12 apostles. 6After that, he appeared to more than 500 brothers and sisters at the same time. Most of them are still living. But some have died. 7He appeared to James. Then he appeared to all the apostles. 8Last of all, he also appeared to me. I was like someone who wasn’t born at the right time.
9I am the least important of the apostles. I’m not even fit to be called an apostle. I tried to destroy God’s church. 10But because of God’s grace I am what I am. And his grace was not wasted on me. No, I have worked harder than all the other apostles. But I didn’t do the work. God’s grace was with me. 11So this is what we preach, whether I or the other apostles who preached to you. And that is what you believed.
Believers Will Rise From the Dead
12We have preached that Christ has been raised from the dead. So how can some of you say that no one rises from the dead? 13If no one rises from the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14And if Christ has not been raised, what we preach doesn’t mean anything. Your faith doesn’t mean anything either. 15More than that, we would be lying about God. We are witnesses that God raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if the dead are not raised. 16If the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith doesn’t mean anything. Your sins have not been forgiven. 18Those who have died believing in Christ are also lost. 19Do we have hope in Christ only for this life? Then people should pity us more than anyone else.
20But Christ really has been raised from the dead. He is the first of all those who will rise from the dead. 21Death came because of what a man did. Rising from the dead also comes because of what a man did. 22Because of Adam, all people die. So because of Christ, all will be made alive. 23But here is the order of events. Christ is the first of those who rise from the dead. When he comes back, those who belong to him will be raised. 24Then the end will come after Christ destroys all rule, authority and power. Then he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father. 25Christ must rule until he has put all his enemies under his control. 26The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27Scripture says that God “has put everything under his control.” (Psalm 8:6) It says that “everything” has been put under him. But it is clear that this does not include God himself. That’s because God put everything under Christ. 28When he has done that, the Son also will be under God’s rule. God put everything under the Son. In that way, God will be all in all.
29Suppose no one rises from the dead. Then what will people do who are baptized for the dead? Suppose the dead are not raised at all. Then why are people baptized for them? 30And why would we put ourselves in danger every hour? 31I face death every day. That’s the truth. And here is something you can be just as sure of. I take pride in what Christ Jesus our Lord has done for you through my work. 32Did I fight wild animals in Ephesus with nothing more than human hopes? Then what have I gotten for it? If the dead are not raised,
“Let us eat and drink,
because tomorrow we will die.” (Isaiah 22:13)
33Don’t let anyone fool you. “Bad companions make a good person bad.” 34You should come back to your senses and stop sinning. Some of you don’t know anything about God. I say this to make you ashamed.
The Body That Rises From the Dead
35But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? What kind of body will they have?” 36How foolish! What you plant doesn’t come to life unless it dies. 37When you plant something, it isn’t a completely grown plant that you put in the ground. You only plant a seed. Maybe it’s wheat or something else. 38But God gives the seed a body just as he has planned. And to each kind of seed he gives its own body. 39Not all earthly creatures are the same. People have one kind of body. Animals have another. Birds have another kind. Fish have still another. 40There are also heavenly bodies as well as earthly bodies. Heavenly bodies have one kind of glory. Earthly bodies have another. 41The sun has one kind of glory. The moon has another kind. The stars have still another. And one star’s glory is different from that of another star.
42It will be like that with bodies that are raised from the dead. The body that is planted does not last forever. The body that is raised from the dead lasts forever. 43It is planted without honor. But it is raised in glory. It is planted in weakness. But it is raised in power. 44It is planted as an earthly body. But it is raised as a spiritual body.
Just as there is an earthly body, there is also a spiritual body. 45It is written, “The first man Adam became a living person.” (Genesis 2:7) The last Adam became a spirit that gives life. 46What is spiritual did not come first. What is earthly came first. What is spiritual came after that. 47The first man came from the dust of the earth. The second man came from heaven. 48Those who belong to the earth are like the one who came from the earth. And those who are spiritual are like the heavenly man. 49We are like the earthly man. And we will be like the heavenly man.
50Brothers and sisters, here is what I’m telling you. Bodies made of flesh and blood can’t share in the kingdom of God. And what dies can’t share in what never dies. 51Listen! I am telling you a mystery. We will not all die. But we will all be changed. 52That will happen in a flash, as quickly as you can wink an eye. It will happen at the blast of the last trumpet. Then the dead will be raised to live forever. And we will be changed. 53Our natural bodies don’t last forever. They must be dressed with what does last forever. What dies must be dressed with what does not die. 54In fact, that is going to happen. What does not last will be dressed with what lasts forever. What dies will be dressed with what does not die. Then what is written will come true. It says, “Death has been swallowed up. It has lost the battle.” (Isaiah 25:8)
55“Death, where is the victory you thought you had?
Death, where is your sting?” (Hosea 13:14)
56The sting of death is sin. And the power of sin is the law. 57But let us give thanks to God! He gives us the victory because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done.
58My dear brothers and sisters, remain strong in the faith. Don’t let anything move you. Always give yourselves completely to the work of the Lord. Because you belong to the Lord, you know that your work is not worthless.
Ang Parte sa Pagkabanhaw ni Cristo
1Mga utod, gusto ko ipadumdom sa inyo ang Maayong Balita nga akon ginwali sa inyo. Ini ginbaton ninyo kag hasta subong amo man ang inyo ginatindugan. 2Paagi sa sining Maayong Balita maluwas kamo kon ginahuptan ninyo sing maayo ang akon ginwali sa inyo kag indi nga pasapayan lang ang inyo pagtuo. 3Gintudlo ko sa inyo ang labing importante nga mga butang nga gintudlo sa akon: nga si Cristo napatay agod maluwas kita sa silot tungod sang aton mga sala. Kag ini suno sa Kasulatan. 4Ginlubong siya kag nabanhaw sa ikatlo nga adlaw, suno man sa Kasulatan. 5Nagpakita siya una kay Pedro15:5 Pedro: sa Griego, Cefas. kag dayon sa iban pa sa dose ka apostoles. 6Pagkatapos nagpakita man siya sa iya mga sumulunod nga nagtipon nga sobra 500. Kag kalabanan sa ila buhi pa subong, pero ang iban patay na. 7Nagpakita man siya kay Santiago kag dayon sa tanan nga apostoles.
8Sang ulihi nagpakita man siya sa akon. Pero ina indi sa akon kaugalingon, kundi tungod sa kaluoy kag bulig sang Dios. 11Pero wala sing deperensya kon ako ukon sila ang nagatudlo sa inyo, ang importante nga pareho ang amon ginawali kag pareho man ang inyo ginatuohan.
Ang Pagkabanhaw sang mga Nagatuo sa Dios
12Kon ginawali namon sa inyo nga nabanhaw si Cristo, ngaa ang iban dira sa inyo nagasiling nga wala sing pagkabanhaw? 13Kon matuod nga wala sing pagkabanhaw, nagakahulugan nga si Cristo wala man nabanhaw. 14Kag kon wala nabanhaw si Cristo, wala sing pulos ang amon pagwali, kag wala man sing pulos ang inyo pagtuo. 15Indi lang ina, kundi magaguwa nga nagabutig kami parte sa Dios, kay nagasugid kami nga ginbanhaw niya si Cristo. 16Pero wala siya nabanhaw kon wala sing pagkabanhaw ang mga patay. 17Kag kon si Cristo wala nabanhaw, ang inyo pagtuo wala sing pulos kag wala pa kamo napatawad sa inyo mga sala. 18Kag nagakahulugan man nga ang mga tumuluo kay Cristo nga nagkalamatay na wala man naluwas. 19Kon ang aton paglaom bilang Kristohanon para lang sa aton kabuhi diri sa kalibutan, kita gid ang makaluluoy sa tanan nga tawo.
20Pero ang matuod, nabanhaw si Cristo halin sa kamatayon kag amo ini ang nagapamatuod nga banhawon ang mga patay. 21Tungod sa isa ka tawo nga si Adan, nag-abot ang kamatayon sa tanan nga tawo. Kag tungod man sa isa ka tawo nga si Cristo, mabanhaw ang mga patay. 22Kay kon paano nga kita tanan mapatay tungod sa aton relasyon kay Adan, tungod man sa aton relasyon kay Cristo kita tanan mabanhaw. 23Ang pagkabanhaw pasunod. Ang una gid nga nabanhaw amo si Cristo. Pagkatapos, pagbalik niya diri sa kalibutan, mabanhaw man ang iya katawhan. 24Kag dayon magaabot ang katapusan. Dulaon niya ang tanan nga ginharian, pagdumalahan, kag paggahom, kag ihatag niya dayon ang paghari sa Dios nga Amay. 25Kay dapat maghari si Cristo hasta mapaampo niya ang tanan nga nagakontra sa iya. 26Ang katapusan gid nga kaaway nga dulaon amo ang kamatayon. 27Nagasiling ang Kasulatan nga ginpasakop sang Dios kay Cristo ang tanan nga butang.15:27 Salmo 8:6. Pero siyempre wala ini nagakahulugan nga pati ang Dios nga nagpasakop sang tanan kay Cristo nalakip man. 28Kundi kon ang tanan sa idalom na sang gahom ni Cristo, si Cristo nga Anak sang Dios magapasakop man sa Dios nga nagpaampo sang tanan sa iya, agod ang Dios amo na ang magagahom sa tanan.
29May mga tawo nga nagapabautiso para sa mga napatay. Ti ano ang pulos sang ila ginahimo kon indi man lang pagbanhawon ang mga patay? 30Kag ano ang amon makuha sa mga peligro nga amon ginaagihan? 31Kon paano matuod nga ginapabugal ko kamo sa aton paghiusa kay Cristo Jesus nga aton Ginoo, matuod man nga ginaatubang ko kada adlaw ang peligro sang kamatayon. 32Nabudlayan gid ako diri sa Efeso, tungod nga ang mga tawo nga nagakontra sa akon pareho sa mabangis nga mga sapat. Gani kon indi pagbanhawon ang mga patay, ano bala ang akon makuha sa mga pag-antos nga pareho sini? Kon indi pagbanhawon ang mga patay, mas maayo pa nga sundon ta na lang ang hulubaton nga nagasiling, “Magpagusto kita, magkaon kag mag-inom, kay basi kon mapatay na kita buwas.”15:32 Isa. 22:13.
33Indi kamo magpati sa sina nga hulubaton kay pangdaya lang ina. Sa baylo, patihi ninyo ang hulubaton nga nagasiling, “Kon mag-upod-upod kamo sa mga tawo nga nagahimo sang malain, ina magapalain sa inyo maayo nga batasan.” 34Maghunahuna na kamo sing husto kag bayai na ninyo ang pagpakasala. Ginahambal ko ini sa inyo agod mahuya kamo, kay ang iban sa inyo sala ang pagkilala sa Dios.
Ang Lawas sa Tion sang Pagkabanhaw
35Kon may ara nga magpamangkot kon paano ang pagkabanhaw sang mga patay kag kon ano nga klase sang lawas ang ila maangkon, 36ari ang akon sabat sa sina nga tawo nga wala gid sing may nahibaluan: kon magtanom kita sang isa ka liso sang binhi sa duta, ina nga binhi madunot anay bag-o magtubo. 37Kag bisan ano nga binhi ang imo itanom, kon nagatubo na gani, lain na ang hitsura sang sa gintanom ini. 38Ang hitsura sini suno man sa pagbuot sang Dios. Kag kada binhi may iya nga hitsura kon magtubo.
39Amo man ang lawas sang tanan nga nagakabuhi, kay ang mga lawas wala man nagapalareho. Lain ang lawas sang tawo kag lain man ang lawas sang mga sapat, lain ang lawas sang mga pispis, kag lain pa gid ang lawas sang mga isda.
40Nagkalain-lain ang ginhimo sang Dios diri sa duta kag didto sa langit, kag ang tanan nga iya ginhimo matahom. Pero lain ang katahom sang kada isa. Ang katahom sang mga butang nga didto sa langit lain sa katahom sang mga butang diri sa duta. 41Lain ang katahom sang adlaw, kag lain man ang katahom sang bulan. Ang mga bituon may iya man nga katahom. Kag bisan pa gani ang mga bituon, nagkalain-lain ang ila katahom. 42Amo man kon banhawon na ang mga patay. Ang ginalubong nga lawas madunot, pero kon mabanhaw na, indi na gid ini madunot hasta san-o. 43Ang ginalubong nga lawas malaw-ay tulukon kag maluya, pero kon banhawon na, ini mangin matahom kag mabaskog. 44Ang ginalubong nga lawas dutan-on nga lawas, pero kon banhawon na, ini mangin langitnon nga lawas. Tungod nga kon may dutan-on nga lawas may langitnon man nga lawas. 45Kay nagasiling ang Kasulatan, “Ang una nga tawo nga si Adan ginhatagan sang kabuhi.”15:45 Gen. 2:7. Pero ang ulihi nga Adan nga amo si Cristo ginhatagan sang Espiritu nga nagahatag sang kabuhi. 46Indi ang langitnon nga lawas ang una kundi ang dutan-on nga lawas, kag dayon ang langitnon nga lawas. 47Ang una nga tawo nga si Adan dutan-on. Ginhimo siya halin sa duta. Pero ang ikaduha nga tawo nga amo si Cristo halin sa langit. 48Ang lawas nga dutan-on pareho gid sa lawas sang tawo nga ginhimo halin sa duta, pero ang lawas nga langitnon pareho gid sa lawas sang naghalin sa langit. 49Gani kon paano nga ang aton lawas nangin pareho sang kay Adan nga halin sa duta, magaabot gid ang adlaw nga ang aton lawas mangin pareho man sang kay Cristo nga halin sa langit.
50Mga utod, ang buot ko silingon amo ini: ining aton lawas nga dutan-on indi mahimo nga may bahin sa paghari sang Dios. Kag ining lawas nga madunot indi makapanubli sang kabuhi nga wala sing katapusan.
51Pamati kamo kay sugiran ko kamo sang sining tinago nga kamatuoran: indi kita tanan mapatay, pero kita tanan, bag-uhon sang Dios ang aton lawas. 52Ini hinali lang nga matabo, pareho sa isa ka pamisok. Kay sa pagtunog sang ulihi gid nga trumpeta, banhawon gilayon ang mga patay kag hatagan sang lawas nga indi na madunot. Kag kita nga buhi pa, bag-uhon man ang aton mga lawas. 53Tungod nga ang ini nga lawas nga madunot kag mapatay kinahanglan nga bayluhan sang lawas nga indi na madunot kag indi na mapatay. 54Gani kon ang ini nga lawas nga madunot mabayluhan na sang indi madunot, kag kon ang ini nga lawas nga mapatay mabayluhan na sang indi mapatay, matuman na ang ginasiling sang Kasulatan,
“Gindula na sang Dios ang kamatayon!”15:54 Isa. 25:8.
55“Ti diin na ang imo kadalag-an, O kamatayon?
Diin na ang imo gahom?”15:55 Hos. 13:14.
56Ang kamatayon may gahom lang sa aton tungod sa sala, kag may gahom ang sala tungod nga may Kasuguan. 57Pero salamat sa Dios tungod nga paagi sa ginhimo sang aton Ginoong Jesu-Cristo ginhatagan niya kita sang kadalag-an sa sini nga mga butang. 58Gani, mga hinigugma ko nga mga utod kay Cristo, magpakalig-on kamo kag indi gid malingkang sa inyo pagtuo. Magmapisan kamo sa ginapahimo sa inyo sang Ginoo, kay nahibaluan ninyo nga may pulos gid ang inyo mga pagpangabudlay para sa Ginoo.
