1 Chronicles 8:1-40

The Family History of Saul

1Benjamin was the father of

Bela. Bela was his first son.

Ashbel was his second son. Aharah was the third.

2Nohah was the fourth. And Rapha was the fifth.

3The sons of Bela were

Addar, Gera, Abihud, 4Abishua, Naaman, Ahoah, 5Gera, Shephuphan and Huram.

6Here are the members of the family line of Ehud. They were the leaders of the families who were living in Geba. Later, they were taken away from their own land. They were forced to go to Manahath. 7The sons of Ehud were

Naaman, Ahijah and Gera. Gera took them away from their land. He was the father of Uzza and Ahihud.

8Sons were born to Shaharaim in Moab. That happened after he had divorced his wives Hushim and Baara. 9His wife Hodesh had sons by him. Their names were Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malkam, 10Jeuz, Sakia and Mirmah. His sons were the leaders of their families. 11His wife Hushim had Abitub and Elpaal by him.

12The sons of Elpaal were

Eber, Misham and Shemed. Shemed built Ono and Lod and the villages around it. 13Beriah and Shema were also sons of Elpaal. They were the leaders of the families who were living in Aijalon. Beriah and Shema drove out the people who were living in Gath.

14Ahio, Shashak, Jeremoth, 15Zebadiah, Arad, Eder, 16Michael, Ishpah and Joha were the sons of Beriah.

17Zebadiah, Meshullam, Hizki, Heber, 18Ishmerai, Izliah and Jobab were other sons of Elpaal.

19Jakim, Zikri, Zabdi, 20Elienai, Zillethai, Eliel, 21Adaiah, Beraiah and Shimrath were the sons of Shimei.

22Ishpan, Eber, Eliel, 23Abdon, Zikri, Hanan, 24Hananiah, Elam, Anthothijah, 25Iphdeiah and Penuel were the sons of Shashak.

26Shamsherai, Shehariah, Athaliah, 27Jaareshiah, Elijah and Zikri were the sons of Jeroham.

28All these men were the leaders of their families. They were listed as chiefs in their family history. They lived in Jerusalem.

29Jeiel lived in the city of Gibeon. He was the father of Gibeon.

Jeiel had a wife named Maakah. 30His oldest son was Abdon. His other sons were Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, 31Gedor, Ahio, Zeker 32and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeah. Mikloth and Shimeah also lived in Jerusalem. They lived near their relatives.

33Ner was the father of Kish. Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab and Esh-Baal.

34The son of Jonathan was

Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal was the father of Micah.

35The sons of Micah were

Pithon, Melek, Tarea and Ahaz. 36Ahaz was the father of Jehoaddah. Jehoaddah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza. 37Moza was the father of Binea. Raphah was Binea’s son. Eleasah was Raphah’s son. And Azel was Eleasah’s son.

38Azel had six sons. Their names were

Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah and Hanan. All of them were the sons of Azel.

39Here are the sons of Azel’s brother Eshek.

Ulam was his first son. Jeush was the second. Eliphelet was the third. 40The sons of Ulam were brave fighting men. They could use a bow. They had many sons and grandsons. The total number of sons and grandsons was 150.

All these men belonged to the family line of Benjamin.

Les descendants de Benjamin habitant à Jérusalem

1Benjamin eut pour fils8.1 Pour les v. 1-5, voir 7.6-12 ; Gn 46.21-22 ; Nb 26.38-41. : Béla, son premier-né, Ashbel, le deuxième, Ahrah, le troisième, 2Noha, le quatrième, et Rapha, le cinquième. 3Béla eut des fils : Addar, Guéra, Abihoud, 4Abishoua, Naaman, Ahoah, 5Guéra, Shephouphân et Houram.

6-7Les fils d’Ehoud, Naaman, Ahiya et Guéra étaient les chefs de groupe familial des habitants de Guéba. Ceux-ci furent déplacés à Manahath. C’est Guéra qui les fit émigrer. Il eut pour fils Ouzza et Ahihoud.

8Shaharaïm eut des enfants dans les plaines de Moab, après avoir renvoyé ses deux femmes Houshim et Baara. 9Il eut, de Hodesh, sa femme : Yobab, Tsibia, Mésha, Malkam, Yeouts, Sakia et Mirma. 10Tels sont les fils de Shaharaïm qui devinrent des chefs de groupe familial.

11De son épouse Houshim, il avait eu Abitoub et Elpaal. 12Fils d’Elpaal : Eber, Misheam et Shémer qui bâtit Ono, Lod et les localités qui en dépendaient. 13Beria et Shéma, qui étaient chefs de groupe familial parmi les habitants d’Ayalôn, mirent en fuite les habitants de Gath. 14Puis : Ahyo, Shashaq, Yerémoth, 15Zebadia, Arad, Eder, 16Michaël, Yishpha et Yoha, les fils de Beria. 17Puis : Zebadia, Meshoullam, Hizqi, Héber, 18Yishmeraï, Yizliya et Yobab, les fils d’Elpaal. 19Puis : Yaqim, Zikri, Zabdi, 20Eliénaï, Tsiltaï, Eliel, 21Adaya, Beraya et Shimrath, les fils de Shimeï, 22Puis : Yishpân, Eber, Eliel, 23Abdôn, Zikri, Hanân, 24Hanania, Elam, Antotiya, 25Yiphdeya et Penouel, les fils de Shashaq. 26Shamsheraï, Sheharia, Atalia, 27Yaaréshia, Eliya et Zikri, les fils de Yeroham.

29Le père de Gabaon8.29 Le terme père pourrait aussi signifier chef (militaire ou civil). Certains manuscrits de l’ancienne version grecque (1 Ch 9.35) précisent que ce père s’appelait Yeïel. habitait à Gabaon. Sa femme s’appelait Maaka. 30Abdôn fut son fils premier-né, puis vinrent Tsour, Qish, Baal8.30 Certains manuscrits de l’ancienne version grecque (voir 1 Ch 9.36) ajoutent : Ner., Nadab, 31Guedor, Ahyo et Zéker. 32Miqloth eut pour fils Shimea. Ces derniers habitaient eux aussi à Jérusalem, avec ceux qui leur étaient apparentés. 33Ner eut pour fils Qish qui eut pour fils Saül ; les fils de Saül furent Jonathan, Malkishoua, Abinadab et Eshbaal8.33 Autre nom de Ishbosheth.. 34Jonathan eut pour fils Merib-Baal8.34 Autre nom de Mephibosheth (2 S 4.4 ; 9.6-13)., qui eut pour fils Michée. 35Fils de Michée : Pitôn, Mélek, Taréa et Ahaz. 36Ahaz eut pour fils Yehoadda, qui eut pour fils : Alémeth, Azmaveth et Zimri. 37Voici les descendants de Zimri en ligne directe : Motsa, Binea, Rapha, Eleasa, Atsel. 38Atsel eut six fils, dont voici les noms : Azriqam, Bokrou, Ismaël, Shearia, Abdias et Hanân. Tels étaient les fils d’Atsel.

39Esheq était le frère d’Atsel. Il eut pour fils Oulam, son premier-né, Yeoush, le deuxième, et Eliphéleth, le troisième. 40Les fils d’Oulam furent des hommes de guerre valeureux, tireurs à l’arc ; ils eurent de nombreux fils et petits-fils : cent cinquante.

Tels étaient les descendants de Benjamin.
