Kiswahili Contemporary Version (Neno: Bibilia Takatifu)

Maombolezo 4:1-22

kunyonyesha watoto wao,

lakini watu wangu wamekuwa wasio na huruma

kama mbuni jangwani.

44:4 Mao 2:11-12; Za 22:15; 2Fal 18:31; Kum 28:48Kwa sababu ya kiu ulimi wa mtoto mchanga

umegandamana na kaakaa la kinywa chake,

watoto huomba mkate,

lakini hakuna yeyote awapaye.

54:5 Yer 6:2; Isa 3:26; Amo 6:3-7; Ay 24:8; Lk 15:16Wale waliokula vyakula vya kifahari

ni maskini barabarani.

Wale waliokuzwa wakivaa nguo za zambarau

sasa wanalalia majivu.

64:6 Mwa 19:25Adhabu ya watu wangu

ni kubwa kuliko ile ya Sodoma,

ambayo ilipinduliwa ghafula

bila kuwepo mkono wa msaada.

7Wakuu wao walikuwa wamengʼaa kuliko theluji

na weupe kuliko maziwa,

miili yao ilikuwa myekundu kuliko marijani,

kuonekana kwao kama yakuti samawi.

84:8 Ay 30:28; Za 102:3-5; Mao 3:4Lakini sasa ni weusi kuliko masizi;

hawatambulikani barabarani.

Ngozi yao imeshikamana juu ya mifupa yao,

imekuwa mikavu kama fimbo.

94:9 Yer 15:2; 16:4; 2Fal 25:3; Mao 5:10Wale waliouawa kwa upanga ni bora

kuliko wale wanaokufa njaa;

wanateseka kwa njaa, wanatokomea

kwa kukosa chakula kutoka shambani.

104:10 Mao 2:20; Law 26:29; Kum 28:53-57; Eze 5:10; Yer 19:9Kwa mikono yao wenyewe wanawake wenye huruma

wanapika watoto wao wenyewe,

waliokuwa chakula chao

watu wangu walipoangamizwa.

114:11 Yer 17:27; Kum 32:22; Yer 7:20; Ay 20:23; 2Nya 34:21; Eze 22:31Bwana ametoa nafasi kamilifu ya ghadhabu yake;

ameimwaga hasira yake kali.

Amewasha moto katika Sayuni

ambao umeteketeza misingi yake.

124:12 1Fal 9:9; Yer 21:13; Kum 29:24Wafalme wa dunia hawakuamini,

wala mtu yeyote wa duniani,

kwamba adui na watesi wangeweza kuingia

kwenye malango ya Yerusalemu.

134:13 Yer 5:31; Eze 22:28; Mik 3:11; 2Fal 21:16; Mt 23:31Lakini hili lilitokea kwa sababu ya dhambi za manabii wake,

na maovu ya makuhani wake,

waliomwaga ndani yake

damu ya wenye haki.

144:14 Isa 59:10; Yer 2:34; 19:4Sasa wanapapasa papasa barabarani

kama watu ambao ni vipofu.

Wamenajisiwa kabisa kwa damu,

hata hakuna anayethubutu kugusa mavazi yao.

154:15 Yer 44:14; Law 13:46; Mik 2:10Watu wanawapigia kelele, “Ondokeni! Ninyi ni najisi!

Ondokeni! Ondokeni! Msituguse!”

Wanapokimbia na kutangatanga huku na huko,

watu miongoni mwa mataifa wanasema,

“Hawawezi kukaa hapa zaidi.”

164:16 Isa 9:14-16; Mao 5:12Bwana mwenyewe amewatawanya;

hawaangalii tena.

Makuhani hawaonyeshwi heshima,

wazee hawakubaliki.

174:17 Mwa 15:18; Eze 29:16; Yer 37:7; Isa 20:5-6; 2Fal 24:7Zaidi ya hayo, macho yetu yalichoka,

kwa kutazamia bure msaada;

tuliangalia kutoka minara yetu

kwa taifa lisiloweza kutuokoa.

hata hatukuweza kutembea katika barabara zetu.

Mwisho wetu ulikuwa karibu, siku zetu zilikuwa zimetimia,

kwa maana mwisho wetu ulikuwa umefika.

194:19 Kum 28:49; Law 26:36; Isa 5:26-28; Yer 52:7Waliotufuatia walikuwa wepesi

kuliko tai angani;

walitusaka juu milimani

na kutuvizia jangwani.

hatarefusha muda wako wa kukaa uhamishoni.

Lakini, ee Binti Edomu, ataadhibu dhambi yako,

na atafunua uovu wako.

King James Version

Lamentations 4:1-22

1How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street. 2The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! 3Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.4.3 sea…: or, sea calves 4The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them. 5They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills. 6For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.4.6 punishment of the iniquity: or, iniquity 7Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire: 8Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.4.8 blacker…: Heb. darker than blackness 9They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.4.9 pine…: Heb. flow out 10The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people. 11The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof. 12The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

13¶ For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her, 14They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.4.14 so…: or, in that they could not but touch 15They cried unto them, Depart ye; it is unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn there.4.15 it…: or, ye polluted 16The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders.4.16 anger: or, face 17As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us. 18They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come. 19Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness. 20The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

21¶ Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

22¶ The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.4.22 The…: or, Thine iniquity4.22 discover…: or, carry thee captive for thy sins
