Daudi Awashinda Wafilisti
(2 Samweli 5:17-25)
814:8 1Nya 11:1; 2Sam 5:17; Za 2:1-5Wafilisti waliposikia kuwa Daudi ametiwa mafuta kuwa mfalme wa Israeli yote, wakapanda na jeshi lao lote kwenda kumsaka, lakini Daudi akapata habari hizo, naye akatoka ili kwenda kukabiliana nao. 914:9 Yos 15:8; 1Nya 11:15Basi Wafilisti walikuwa wameingia na kushambulia Bonde la Warefai, 10Hivyo Daudi akamuuliza Mungu: “Je, niende kuwashambulia hao Wafilisti? Je, utawatia mikononi mwangu?”
Bwana akamjibu, “Nenda, nitawatia mikononi mwako.”

1314:13 2Sam 5:22Kwa mara nyingine Wafilisti wakavamia lile bonde; 1414:14 Yos 8:6-7; 2Sam 5:23hivyo Daudi akamuuliza Mungu tena, naye Mungu akamjibu, “Usiwapandie moja kwa moja, bali wazungukie na uwashambulie kutoka mbele ya hiyo miti ya miforosadi. 15Mara usikiapo sauti ya kwenda juu ya hiyo miti ya miforosadi, hapo ndipo utoke upigane vita, kwa sababu hiyo itaonyesha kwamba Mungu amekutangulia ili kupiga jeshi la Wafilisti.” 1614:16 Yos 9:3; 10:33; 2Sam 5:25Kwa hiyo Daudi akafanya kama alivyoagizwa na Mungu, wakalipiga jeshi la Wafilisti kuanzia Gibeoni hadi Gezeri.
1714:17 Yos 6:27; 2Nya 26:8; Kum 2:25; Za 2:1-12Hivyo umaarufu wa Daudi ukaenea katika kila nchi, naye Bwana akayafanya mataifa yote kumwogopa Daudi.
David’s Palace and Family
1Hiram was king of Tyre. He sent messengers to David. He sent cedar logs along with them. He also sent skilled workers to build a palace for David. They worked with stone and wood. 2David knew that the Lord had made his position as king secure. He knew that the Lord had made him king over the whole nation of Israel. He knew that the Lord had greatly honored his kingdom. The Lord had done it because the Israelites were his people.
3In Jerusalem David married more women. He also became the father of more sons and daughters. 4Here is a list of the children born to him in Jerusalem. Their names were Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7Elishama, Beeliada and Eliphelet.
David Wins the Battle Over the Philistines
8The Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over the entire nation of Israel. So the whole Philistine army went to look for him. But David heard about it. He went out to where they were. 9The Philistines had come and attacked the people in the Valley of Rephaim. 10So David asked God for advice. David asked, “Should I go and attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?”
The Lord answered him, “Go. I will hand them over to you.”
11So David and his men went up to Baal Perazim. There David won the battle over the Philistines. He said, “God has broken through against my enemies, just as water breaks through a dam.” That’s why the place was called Baal Perazim. 12The Philistines had left statues of their gods there. So David gave orders to burn them up.
13Once more the Philistines attacked the people in the valley. 14So David asked God for advice again. God answered him, “Do not go straight after them. Instead, circle around them. Attack them in front of the poplar trees. 15Listen for the sound of marching in the tops of the trees. Then move out to fight. The sound will mean that I have gone out in front of you. I will strike down the Philistine army.” 16So David did just as God had commanded him. He and his men struck down the Philistine army. They struck them down from Gibeon all the way to Gezer.
17So David became famous in every land. The Lord made all the nations afraid of him.
