Sacrificios vivos
1Por lo tanto, hermanos, tomando en cuenta la misericordia de Dios, ruego que cada uno de ustedes, en adoración espiritual,12:1 espiritual. Alt. racional. ofrezca su cuerpo como sacrificio vivo, santo y agradable a Dios. 2No se amolden al mundo actual, sino sean transformados mediante la renovación de su mente. Así podrán comprobar cómo es la voluntad de Dios: buena, agradable y perfecta.
3Por la gracia que se me ha dado, digo a todos ustedes: Nadie tenga un concepto de sí más alto que el que debe tener, sino más bien piense de sí mismo con moderación, según la medida de fe que Dios le haya dado. 4Pues, así como cada uno de nosotros tiene un solo cuerpo con muchos miembros, y no todos estos miembros desempeñan la misma función, 5también nosotros, siendo muchos, formamos un solo cuerpo en Cristo, y cada miembro está unido a todos los demás. 6Tenemos dones diferentes, según la gracia que se nos ha dado. Si el don de alguien es el de profecía, que lo use en proporción con su fe;12:6 en proporción con su fe. Alt. de acuerdo con la fe. 7si es el de prestar un servicio, que lo preste; si es el de enseñar, que enseñe; 8si es el de animar a otros, que los anime; si es el de socorrer a los necesitados, que dé con generosidad; si es el de dirigir, que dirija con esmero; si es el de mostrar compasión, que lo haga con alegría.
El amor
9El amor debe ser sincero. Aborrezcan el mal; aférrense al bien. 10Ámense los unos a los otros con amor fraternal, respetándose y honrándose mutuamente. 11Nunca dejen de ser diligentes; antes bien, sirvan al Señor con el fervor que da el Espíritu. 12Alégrense en la esperanza, muestren paciencia en el sufrimiento, perseveren en la oración. 13Ayuden a los hermanos necesitados. Practiquen la hospitalidad. 14Bendigan a quienes los persigan; bendigan y no maldigan. 15Alégrense con los que están alegres; lloren con los que lloran. 16Vivan en armonía los unos con los otros. No sean arrogantes, sino háganse solidarios con los humildes.12:16 háganse … humildes. Alt. estén dispuestos a ocuparse en oficios humildes. No se crean los únicos que saben.
17No paguen a nadie mal por mal. Procuren hacer lo bueno delante de todos. 18Si es posible, y en cuanto dependa de ustedes, vivan en paz con todos. 19No tomen venganza, queridos hermanos, sino dejen el castigo en las manos de Dios, porque está escrito: «Mía es la venganza; yo pagaré»,12:19 Dt 32:35. dice el Señor. 20Antes bien,
«Si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer;
si tiene sed, dale de beber.
Actuando así, harás que se avergüence de su conducta».12:20 harás … conducta. Lit. ascuas de fuego amontonarás sobre su cabeza (Pr 25:21,22).
21No te dejes vencer por el mal; al contrario, vence el mal con el bien.
A Living Sacrifice
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Humble Service in the Body of Christ
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your12:6 Or the faith; 7if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,12:8 Or to provide for others do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Love in Action
9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.12:16 Or willing to do menial work Do not be conceited.
17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”12:19 Deut. 32:35 says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”12:20 Prov. 25:21,22
21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
