1El Señor respondió:
—Ahora verás lo que voy a hacer con el faraón. Realmente, solo por mi mano poderosa va a dejar que se vayan; solo por mi mano poderosa va a echarlos de su país.
2En otra ocasión, Dios habló con Moisés y dijo: «Yo soy el Señor. 3Me aparecí a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob bajo el nombre de Dios Todopoderoso, pero no les revelé mi verdadero nombre, que es el Señor.6:3 Véase nota en 3:15. 4También con ellos confirmé mi pacto de darles la tierra de Canaán, donde residieron como forasteros. 5He oído además el quejido de los israelitas, a quienes los egipcios han esclavizado, y he recordado mi pacto.
6»Así que ve y di a los israelitas: “Yo soy el Señor, y voy a quitarles de encima la opresión de los egipcios. Voy a librarlos de su esclavitud; voy a liberarlos con gran despliegue de poder y con grandes actos de justicia. 7Haré de ustedes mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor su Dios, que los libró de la opresión de los egipcios. 8Y los llevaré a la tierra que juré solemnemente con la mano en alto dar a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob. Yo, el Señor, les daré a ustedes posesión de ella”».
9Moisés dio a conocer esto a los israelitas, pero por su desánimo y las penurias de su esclavitud ellos no hicieron caso.
10Entonces el Señor habló con Moisés y dijo:
11—Ve y habla con el faraón, el rey de Egipto. Dile que deje salir de su país a los israelitas.
12Pero Moisés respondió al Señor:
—¿Y cómo va a hacerme caso el faraón si ni siquiera los israelitas me creen? Además, no tengo facilidad de palabra.6:12 no tengo facilidad de palabra. Lit. soy incircunciso de labios; también en v. 30.
Descendientes de Rubén, Simeón y Leví
13En otra ocasión el Señor habló con Moisés y Aarón acerca de los israelitas y del faraón, rey egipcio, y les ordenó sacar de Egipto a los israelitas.
14Estos fueron los jefes de las familias patriarcales:
Los hijos de Rubén, primogénito de Israel:
Janoc, Falú, Jezrón y Carmí.
Estos fueron los clanes de Rubén.
15Los hijos de Simeón:
Jemuel, Jamín, Oad, Jaquín, Zojar y Saúl, hijo de la cananea.
Estos fueron los clanes de Simeón.
16Según los registros familiares, estos son los nombres de los hijos de Leví, quien vivió ciento treinta y siete años:
Guersón, Coat y Merari.
17Los hijos de Guersón, según sus clanes:
Libní y Simí.
18Los hijos de Coat, quien vivió ciento treinta y tres años:
Amirán, Izar, Hebrón y Uziel.
19Los hijos de Merari:
Majlí y Musí.
Estos fueron los clanes de Leví, según sus registros familiares.
20Amirán, que vivió ciento treinta y siete años, se casó con su tía Jocabed, la cual le dio dos hijos, Aarón y Moisés.
21Los hijos de Izar:
Coré, Néfeg y Zicrí.
22Los hijos de Uziel:
Misael, Elzafán y Sitri.
23Aarón se casó con Elisabet, hija de Aminadab y hermana de Naasón, y ella le dio cuatro hijos: Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.
24Los hijos de Coré:
Asir, Elcaná y Abiasaf.
Estos fueron los clanes de Coré.
25Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, se casó con una de las hijas de Futiel, la cual le dio un hijo, Finés.
Estos fueron los jefes de los clanes levitas en orden de familias.
26Aarón y Moisés son los mismos a quienes el Señor mandó que sacaran de Egipto a los israelitas, ordenados en escuadrones. 27Son ellos quienes hablaron con el faraón, rey egipcio, en cuanto a sacar de Egipto a los israelitas.
Aarón, vocero de Moisés
28Cuando el Señor habló con Moisés en Egipto, 29le dijo:
—Yo soy el Señor. Habla con el faraón, rey de Egipto, y comunícale todo lo que yo te diga.
30Pero Moisés respondió al Señor:
—¿Y cómo va a hacerme caso el faraón si yo no tengo facilidad de palabra?
1Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh. Because of my powerful hand, he will let the people of Israel go. Because of my mighty hand, he will drive them out of his country.”
2God continued, “I am the Lord. 3I appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as the Mighty God. But I did not show them the full meaning of my name, The Lord. 4I also made my covenant with them. I promised to give them the land of Canaan. That is where they lived as outsiders. 5Also, I have heard the groans of the Israelites. The Egyptians are keeping them as slaves. But I have remembered my covenant.
6“So tell the people of Israel, ‘I am the Lord. I will throw off the heavy load the Egyptians have put on your shoulders. I will set you free from being slaves to them. I will reach out my arm and save you with mighty acts when I judge Egypt. 7I will take you to be my own people. I will be your God. I throw off the load the Egyptians have put on your shoulders. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God. 8I will bring you to the land I promised to give to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I lifted up my hand and promised it to them. The land will belong to you. I am the Lord.’ ”
9Moses reported these things to the Israelites. But they didn’t listen to him. That’s because they had lost all hope and had to work very hard.
10Then the Lord said to Moses, 11“Go. Tell Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to let the people of Israel leave his country.”
12But Moses said to the Lord, “The people won’t listen to me. So why would Pharaoh listen to me? After all, I don’t speak very well.”
The Family Record of Moses and Aaron
13The Lord had spoken to Moses and Aaron. He had talked with them about the Israelites and about Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. He had commanded Moses and Aaron to bring the people of Israel out of Egypt.
14Here were the leaders of the family groups of Reuben, Simeon and Levi.
Reuben was the oldest son of Israel. Reuben’s sons were
Hanok, Pallu, Hezron and Karmi.
These were the family groups of Reuben.
15The sons of Simeon were
Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul. Shaul was the son of a woman from Canaan.
These were the family groups of Simeon.
16Here are the names of the sons of Levi written in their family record. They were
Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
Levi lived for 137 years.
17The sons of Gershon, by their family groups, were
Libni and Shimei.
18The sons of Kohath were
Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
Kohath lived for 133 years.
19The sons of Merari were
Mahli and Mushi.
These are the family groups of Levi written in their family record.
20Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed. Aaron and Moses were members of Amram’s family line.
Amram lived for 137 years.
21The sons of Izhar were
Korah, Nepheg and Zikri.
22The sons of Uzziel were
Mishael, Elzaphan and Sithri.
23Aaron married Elisheba. She was the daughter of Amminadab and the sister of Nahshon. She had Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar by Aaron.
24The sons of Korah were
Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph.
These were the family groups of Korah.
25Eleazar, the son of Aaron, married one of the daughters of Putiel. She had Phinehas by Eleazar.
These are the leaders of the families of Levi. Their names are written in their family records.
26The Lord had spoken to this same Aaron and Moses. He had told them, “Bring the Israelites out of Egypt like an army on the march.” 27They spoke to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, about bringing the people of Israel out of Egypt. It was this same Moses and Aaron.
Aaron Speaks for Moses
28The Lord had spoken to Moses in Egypt. 29He had told him, “I am the Lord. Tell Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, everything I tell you.”
30But Moses said to the Lord, “I don’t speak very well. So why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
