1«تَعَالَوْا نَرْجِعْ إِلَى الرَّبِّ. هُوَ الَّذِي مَزَّقَنَا إِرْباً إِرْباً، وَهُوَ وَحْدَهُ يُبْرِئُنَا. هُوَ الَّذِي ضَرَبَنَا، وَهُوَ وَحْدَهُ الَّذِي يَجْبُرُنَا. 2بَعْدَ يَوْمَيْنِ يُحْيِينَا، وَفِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ يُقِيمُنَا، لِنَحْيَا أَمَامَهُ. 3لِنَعْرِفْ، بَلْ لِنَجِدَّ حَتَّى نَعْرِفَ الرَّبَّ، فَمَجِيئُهُ يَقِينٌ كَالْفَجْرِ، يُقْبِلُ إِلَيْنَا كَإِقْبَالِ الْمَطَرِ وَكَغُيُوثِ الرَّبِيعِ الَّتِي تَرْوِي الأَرْضَ».
4مَاذَا أَصْنَعُ بِكَ يَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، وَأَيُّ شَيْءٍ أَفْعَلُهُ بِكَ يَا يَهُوذَا؟ إِنَّ حُبَّكُمْ يَتَلاشَى كَسَحَابَةِ الصُّبْحِ وَيَتَبَخَّرُ كَالنَّدَى. 5لِذَلِكَ مَزَّقْتُكُمْ بِإِنْذَارَاتِ الأَنْبِيَاءِ، وَقَضَيْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِأَحْكَامِي، فَقَضَائِي عَلَيْكُمْ يَشِعُّ كَالنُّورِ.
6إِنِّي أَطْلُبُ رَحْمَةً لَا ذَبِيحَةً، وَمَعْرِفَتِي أَكْثَرَ مِنَ الْمُحْرَقَاتِ. 7وَلَكِنَّكُمْ مِثْلُ آدَمَ، نَقَضْتُمْ عَهْدِي وَغَدَرْتُمْ بِي. 8جِلْعَادُ، مَدِينَةُ فَاعِلِي الشَّرِّ، دَاسَتْ عَلَيْهَا أَقْدَامٌ مُلَطَّخَةٌ بِالدَّمِ. 9وَكَمَا يَكْمِنُ اللُّصُوصُ، كَمَنَ الْكَهَنَةُ عَلَى طَرِيقِ شَكِيمَ لِيَرْتَكِبُوا جَرَائِمَ الْقَتْلِ. حَقّاً إِنَّهُمْ يَقْتَرِفُونَ الْفَوَاحِشَ. 10لَقَدْ شَهِدْتُ فِي وَسَطِ شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ فَظَائِعَ، فَقَدْ زَنَى هُنَاكَ أَفْرَايِمُ وَتَنَجَّسَ إِسْرَائِيلُ. 11أَمَّا أَنْتَ يَا يَهُوذَا فَقَدْ تَحَدَّدَ مَوْعِدُ عِقَابِكَ عِنْدَمَا أَرُدُّ سَبْيَ شَعْبِي.
1Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 3Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
4¶ O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee?
