Octavo discurso de Job
1A esto respondió Job:
2«Mi queja sigue siendo amarga;
gimo bajo el peso de su mano.23:2 su mano (LXX y Siríaca); mi mano (TM).
3¡Ah, si supiera yo dónde encontrar a Dios!
¡Si pudiera llegar adonde él habita!
4Ante él expondría mi caso;
llenaría mi boca de argumentos.
5Podría conocer su respuesta,
y trataría de entenderla.
6¿Disputaría él conmigo con todo su poder?
¡Claro que no! ¡Ni me acusaría!
7Ante él cualquier hombre intachable podría presentar su caso,
y yo sería absuelto para siempre delante de mi Juez.
8»Si me dirijo hacia el este, no está allí;
si me encamino al oeste, no lo encuentro.
9Si está ocupado en el norte, no lo veo;
si se vuelve al sur, no alcanzo a percibirlo.
10Él, en cambio, conoce mis caminos;
si me pusiera a prueba, saldría yo puro como el oro.
11En sus sendas he afirmado mis pies;
he seguido su camino sin desviarme.
12No me he apartado de los mandamientos de sus labios;
valoro más las palabras de su boca que mi pan de cada día.
13»Pero él es soberano;23:13 pero él es soberano. Lit. y él, en uno.
¿quién puede hacerlo desistir?
Lo que él quiere hacer, lo hace.
14Hará conmigo lo que ha determinado;
todo lo que tiene pensado lo realizará.
15Por eso me espanto en su presencia;
si pienso en todo esto, me lleno de temor.
16Dios ha hecho que mi corazón desmaye;
me tiene aterrado el Todopoderoso.
17Con todo, no logran acallarme las tinieblas
ni la densa oscuridad que cubre mi rostro.
1Then Job answered and said, 2Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.23.2 stroke: Heb. hand 3Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! 4I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. 5I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me. 6Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me. 7There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.
8Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: 9On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: 10But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.23.10 that…: Heb. that is with me 11My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. 12Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.23.12 esteemed: Heb. hid, or, laid up23.12 my…: or, my appointed portion
13But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth. 14For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him. 15Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him. 16For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me: 17Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
