Jesus står opp fra de døde
1Tidlig på søndagsmorgenen, dagen etter hviledagen, gikk Maria Magdalena og den andre Maria ut i morgendemringen for å passe på graven.
2Da ble det plutselig et voldsom jordskjelv, for en Herrens engel steg ned fra himmelen og rullet bort steinen og satte seg på den. 3Ansiktet hans lyste som lynet, og klærne hans var hvite som snø. 4Da vaktene fikk se ham, ble de så vettskremte at de falt til jorden og lå som døde.
5Men engelen snakket til kvinnene og sa: ”Vær ikke redde! Jeg vet at dere leter etter Jesus, han som ble henrettet på et kors. 6Men han er ikke her. Han har blitt levende igjen, akkurat som han sa. Kom og se der kroppen hans lå. 7Skynd dere å fortelle til disiplene at han har stått opp fra de døde, og at han går i forveien for dem til Galilea for å treffe dem der. Dette er budskapet mitt.”
Jesus viser seg for noen kvinner
8Kvinnene dro straks fra graven. De var forskremte, men samtidig glade og sprang for å fortelle disiplene det engelen hadde sagt. 9Da kom plutselig Jesus mot dem og hilste på dem. De gikk fram til ham og grep om føttene hans og tilba ham.
10Jesus sa til dem: ”Vær ikke redde! Gå og si til brødrene mine at de skal gi seg på vei til Galilea. Der skal de få se meg.”
Vaktene ved graven blir bestukket
11Mens kvinnene var på vei fra graven, sprang noen av de vaktene som hadde stått der, til øversteprestene og fortalte det som hadde skjedd. 12Øversteprestene diskuterte da saken med folkets ledere og ga vaktene en stor sum penger 13og sa: ”Si at disiplene til Jesus kom midt på natten og stjal kroppen mens dere sov. 14Dersom landshøvdingen får høre om det, skal vi ordne opp med ham. Dere trenger ikke å bekymre dere.”
15Soldatene tok derfor pengene og gjorde som det ble sagt til dem. Snart spredde dette ryktet seg blant jødene, som tror på det den dag i dag.
Jesus befaler disiplene å spre budskapet til hele verden
16De elleve disiplene gikk nå til det fjellet i Galilea der Jesus hadde sagt at de skulle treffe ham igjen. 17Da de fikk øye på ham, tilba de ham, men noen tvilte fortsatt.
18Da gikk Jesus bort til dem og sa: ”Jeg har fått all makt i himmelen og på jorden. 19Gå derfor ut til alle folk og gjør dem til mine disipler. Døp dem til fellesskap med Far i himmelen, Sønnen og Guds Hellige Ånd. 20Lær dem å leve på den måten jeg har underviste dere om. Og husk på at jeg alltid er med dere, helt til tidenes slutt.”
Jesus Rises From the Dead
1The Sabbath day was now over. It was dawn on the first day of the week. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
2There was a powerful earthquake. An angel of the Lord came down from heaven. The angel went to the tomb. He rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His body shone like lightning. His clothes were as white as snow. 4The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
5The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here! He has risen, just as he said he would! Come and see the place where he was lying. 7Go quickly! Tell his disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead. He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
8So the women hurried away from the tomb. They were afraid, but they were filled with joy. They ran to tell the disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings!” he said. They came to him, took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see me.”
The Guards Report to the Chief Priests
11While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city. They reported to the chief priests all that had happened. 12When the chief priests met with the elders, they came up with a plan. They gave the soldiers a large amount of money. 13They told the soldiers, “We want you to say, ‘His disciples came during the night. They stole his body while we were sleeping.’ 14If the governor hears this report, we will pay him off. That will keep you out of trouble.” 15So the soldiers took the money and did as they were told. This story has spread all around among the Jews to this day.
Jesus’ Final Orders to His Disciples
16Then the 11 disciples went to Galilee. They went to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him. But some still had their doubts. 18Then Jesus came to them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19So you must go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 20Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end.”
