야곱이 이집트로 내려가다
1그래서 야곱은 모든 소유를 가지고 그 곳을 떠났다. 그는 브엘세바에 이르러 자기 아버지 이삭의 하나님께 제사를 드렸다.
2그 날 밤 하나님이 환상 가운데 나타나셔서 “야곱아, 야곱아!” 하고 부르셨다. 그때 야곱이 “내가 여기 있습니다” 하고 대답하자
3하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “나는 하나님 곧 네 아버지의 하나님이다. 이집트로 내려가는 것을 두려워하지 말아라. 내가 거기서 46:3 또는 ‘너로 큰 민족을 이루게 하리라’네 후손을 큰 민족이 되게 하겠다.
4내가 너와 함께 이집트로 내려갈 것이며 46:4 또는 ‘너를’네 후손을 인도하여 다시 이 땅으로 올라오게 할 것이다. 그러나 너는 요셉이 지켜 보는 가운데 이집트에서 죽을 것이다.”
5야곱이 브엘세바에서 떠날 때 그의 아들들은 바로가 보낸 수레에 자기들의 아버지 야곱과 처자들을 태웠다.
6그들은 가나안 땅에서 얻은 가축과 모든 재산을 가지고 이집트로 갔는데 야곱은 그의 모든 자손,
7곧 그의 아들들과 손자들과 딸들과 손녀들을 데리고 이집트로 내려갔다.
8야곱과 함께 이집트로 내려간 그의 가족들은 다음과 같다: 야곱의 맏아들인 르우벤,
9르우벤의 아들인 하녹, 발루, 헤스론, 갈미;
10시므온과 그의 아들인 여무엘, 야민, 오핫, 야긴, 소할, 그리고 가나안 여자에게서 태어난 사울;
11레위와 그의 아들인 게르손, 고핫, 므라리;
12유다와 그의 아들인 엘, 오난, 셀라, 베레스, 세라이며 엘과 오난은 가나안 땅에서 죽었다. 그리고 베레스의 아들인 헤스론과 하물;
13잇사갈과 그의 아들인 돌라, 46:13 또는 ‘부아와 욥’부아, 야숩, 시므론;
14스불론과 그의 아들인 세렛, 엘론, 얄르엘이다.
15이상은 레아가 46:15 히 ‘밧단 아람’메소포타미아에서 야곱에게 낳은 아들들과 그 자손들이며 이들은 그녀의 딸 디나를 포함하여 남녀 모두 33명이었다.
16그리고 갓과 그의 아들인 46:16 또는 ‘시뵨’스본, 학기, 수니, 에스본, 에리, 아로디, 아렐리;
17아셀과 그의 아들인 임나, 이스와, 이스위, 브리아, 그들의 누이 세라, 그리고 브리아의 아들인 헤벨과 말기엘이다.
18이상은 라반이 그의 딸 레아에게 준 여종 실바가 야곱에게 낳은 자손들로 모두 16명이었다.
19야곱의 아내 라헬은 요셉과 베냐민 두 아들을 낳았는데
20요셉은 이집트에서 46:20 히 ‘온’헬리오폴리스의 제사장 보디베라의 딸인 아스낫과 결혼하여 므낫세와 에브라임을 낳았다.
21그리고 베냐민의 아들은 벨라, 베겔, 아스벨, 게라, 나아만, 에히, 로스, 뭅빔, 훕빔, 아릇이다.
22이상은 라헬이 야곱에게 낳은 자손들로 모두 14명이었다.
23또 단과 그의 아들 후심;
24납달리와 그의 아들인 46:24 또는 ‘야스엘’야셀, 구니, 예셀, 실렘이다.
25이상은 라반이 그의 딸 라헬에게 준 여종 빌하가 야곱에게 낳은 자손들로 모두 7명이었다.
26이와 같이 야곱과 함께 이집트에 내려온 사람들은 그의 며느리들 외에 모두 66명이었는데
27야곱과 요셉, 그리고 이집트에서 요셉에게 태어난 두 아들을 포함시키면 이집트로 내려온 야곱의 가족들은 모두 70명이었다.
야곱의 가족이 고센 땅에 정착함
28야곱이 먼저 유다를 요셉에게 보내 고센에서 만나자고 하였다. 그들이 고센 땅에 도착하자
29요셉은 수레를 타고 고센으로 와서 아버지를 만나 목을 끌어안고 오랫동안 울었다.
30이때 야곱이 요셉에게 “네가 아직 살아 있는 것을 내 눈으로 똑똑히 보았으니 이제는 죽어도 여한이 없다” 하였다.
31그리고 요셉은 형들과 그들의 가족들에게 이렇게 말하였다. “내가 바로에게 가서 가나안 땅에 살던 내 형님들과 아버지의 가족들이 모두 여기에 왔다고 말해야겠습니다.
32나는 또 왕에게 ‘그들은 목축을 하는 사람들이므로 모든 재산을 가지고 양과 소도 함께 끌고 왔습니다’ 하고 말하겠습니다.
33바로가 형님들과 여러 가족들에게 직업이 무엇이냐고 묻거든
34‘우리는 어렸을 때부터 지금까지 우리 조상들처럼 목축을 해왔습니다’ 하고 말하십시오. 이집트 사람들이 목축하는 사람들을 천시하기 때문에 형님들과 여러 가족들은 고센 땅에서 살게 될 것입니다.”
1And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beer-sheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac. 2And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I. 3And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation: 4I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
5And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. 6And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him: 7His sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.
8¶ And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn. 9And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.
10¶ And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.46.10 Jemuel: or, Nemuel46.10 Jachin: or, Jarib46.10 Zohar: or, Zerah
11¶ And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.46.11 Gershon: or, Gershom
12¶ And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.
13¶ And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.46.13 Phuvah, and Job: or, Puah, and Jashub
14¶ And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel. 15These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padan-aram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.
16¶ And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.46.16 Ziphion: or, Zephon46.16 Ezbon: or, Ozni46.16 Arodi: or, Arod
17¶ And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel. 18These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls. 19The sons of Rachel Jacob’s wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.
20¶ And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.46.20 priest: or, prince
21¶ And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.46.21 Ehi: or, Ahiram46.21 Muppim: or, Shupham or, Shuppim46.21 Huppim: or, Hupham 22These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.
23¶ And the sons of Dan; Hushim.46.23 Hushim: or, Shuham
24¶ And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem. 25These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven. 26All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;46.26 loins: Heb. thigh 27And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.
28¶ And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen. 29And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. 30And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive. 31And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me; 32And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.46.32 their trade…: Heb. they are men of cattle 33And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation? 34That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
