간음에 대한 경고
1내 아들아, 내가 지혜와 통찰력으로 가르치는 말을 잘 귀담아 듣고
2모든 일을 신중하게 하며 네 말에 지식이 깃들여 있음을 보여 주어라.
3방탕한 여인의 입술은 꿀보다 달고 그 입은 기름보다 더 미끄러우나
4나중에는 쓰라림과 고통만을 남겨 줄 뿐이다.
5그런 여자는 지옥을 향해 죽음의 길을 치닫고 있으면서도
6생명의 길을 생각하지 못하며 자기 길이 비뚤어져도 그것을 깨닫지 못한다.
7내 아들들아, 이제 너희는 내 말을 잘 듣고 잊지 말며
8그런 여자를 멀리하고 그녀의 집 문에도 가까이 가지 말아라.
9그렇지 않으면 한때 네가 누리던 영예를 다른 사람에게 빼앗기게 되고 너는 난폭한 자들의 손에 죽음을 당할 것이며
10낯선 사람들이 네 재물로 배를 채우고 네 수고한 것이 다른 사람의 집으로 갈 것이다.
11그럴 경우 결국 네 육체는 병들어 못 쓰게 되고 너는 이렇게 탄식하게 될 것이다.
12“내가 왜 훈계를 싫어하며 어째서 내 마음이 꾸지람을 가볍게 여겼는가?
13내가 내 스승의 말을 듣지 않았고 나를 가르치는 사람에게 귀를 기울이지 않았더니
14이제 많은 사람들 앞에서 수치를 당하게 되었구나.”
15너는 5:15 원문에는 ‘네 우물에서 물을 마시며 네 샘에서 흐르는 물을 마시라’네 아내에게 성실하고 그녀만 사랑하여라.
16네가 다른 여인에게 정을 주어 자식을 낳게 할 이유가 무엇이냐?
17너는 네 자녀를 얻는 복을 다른 사람과 나누지 못하게 하라.
185:18 15-18절까지는 의역하였음.네가 젊어서 얻은 아내를 행복하게 하고 그녀와 함께 즐거워하라.
19너는 암사슴처럼 그녀를 사랑스럽고 아름답게 여겨 그 품을 항상 만족하게 여기며 그녀의 사랑을 항상 연모하라.
20내 아들아, 네가 무엇 때문에 음란한 여자에게 정을 주어야 하며 남의 아내 가슴을 안아야 하겠느냐?
21여호와께서는 사람이 하는 일을 다 지켜 보시므로 네가 무엇을 하든지 다 알고 계신다.
22악인은 자기 악에 스스로 걸려 넘어지며 자기 죄의 줄에 자기가 매인다.
23그는 진리의 교훈을 듣지 않으므로 죽을 것이며 너무 어리석은 탓으로 길을 잃고 방황할 것이다.
Warning Against Adultery
1My son, pay attention to my wisdom,
turn your ear to my words of insight,
2that you may maintain discretion
and your lips may preserve knowledge.
3For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey,
and her speech is smoother than oil;
4but in the end she is bitter as gall,
sharp as a double-edged sword.
5Her feet go down to death;
her steps lead straight to the grave.
6She gives no thought to the way of life;
her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.
7Now then, my sons, listen to me;
do not turn aside from what I say.
8Keep to a path far from her,
do not go near the door of her house,
9lest you lose your honor to others
and your dignity5:9 Or years to one who is cruel,
10lest strangers feast on your wealth
and your toil enrich the house of another.
11At the end of your life you will groan,
when your flesh and body are spent.
12You will say, “How I hated discipline!
How my heart spurned correction!
13I would not obey my teachers
or turn my ear to my instructors.
14And I was soon in serious trouble
in the assembly of God’s people.”
15Drink water from your own cistern,
running water from your own well.
16Should your springs overflow in the streets,
your streams of water in the public squares?
17Let them be yours alone,
never to be shared with strangers.
18May your fountain be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19A loving doe, a graceful deer—
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
20Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife?
Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?
21For your ways are in full view of the Lord,
and he examines all your paths.
22The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them;
the cords of their sins hold them fast.
23For lack of discipline they will die,
led astray by their own great folly.
