거역하는 자들에 대한 하나님의 심판
1여호와께서 말씀하셨다. “나에게 묻지 않은 사람들에게 내가 나를 나 타내고 나를 찾지 않던 사람들에게 내가 발견되었으며 내 이름을 부르지 않은 나라에 ‘내가 여기 있다. 내가 여기 있다’ 하였다.
2내가 하루 종일 팔을 벌리고 내 백성을 맞을 준비를 하였으나 그들은 거역하며 자기들 멋대로 악한 짓을 하고 있다.
3그들은 정원에서 제사를 지내고 벽돌 제단에서 분향하여 항상 내 분노를 일으키는 백성이다.
4밤이 되면 그들은 죽은 자들의 영들을 만나려고 무덤이나 동굴을 찾아가며 먹지 못하도록 되어 있는 돼지고기를 먹고 우상에게 제사한 고기를 삶아 그 국물을 마시면서도
5다른 사람에게는 ‘너무 가까이 오지 말아라. 나는 네가 만져서는 안 될 거룩한 몸이다’ 하고 말하니 이런 자들이 65:5 원문에는 ‘내 코의 연기요 종일 타는 불이로다’밤낮 내 분노를 일으키고 있다.
6“내가 이미 그들을 벌하기로 작정하였고 그들의 심판이 내 앞에 기록되었으니 그들이 행한 일을 내가 모르는 척하지 않고 반드시 그 대가를 받도록 할 것이다.
7그들의 죄는 물론 그 조상들의 죄에 대해서도 내가 그들에게 벌을 내리겠다. 그들이 산 위의 이방 신전에서 분향하며 나를 모욕하였으므로 내가 그들의 지난 일을 철저하게 계산하여 그들이 행한 그대로 갚아 줄 것이다.
8“나쁜 포도송이에도 즙을 짤 만한 좋은 포도가 있으므로 사람들이 그것을 송이째 던져 버리지 않는 것처럼 나도 내 백성을 송두리째 멸망시키지 않고
9이스라엘 땅을 소유할 내 백성을 살아 남게 하겠다. 나를 섬기는 택한 내 백성들이 거기서 살 것이다.
10그들이 나를 섬기며 사론 평야와 아골 골짜기에서 그들의 소떼와 양떼를 먹일 것이다.
11“그러나 나 여호와를 버리고 나의 거룩한 산을 잊고 행운과 운명의 신인 갓과 므니 신을 섬기는 자들은
12칼날에 죽음을 당하도록 하겠다. 이것은 내가 불러도 그들이 대답하지 않았으며 내가 말을 해도 그들이 듣지 않고 내 앞에서 악을 행하며 내가 기뻐하지 않는 일을 택하였기 때문이다.
13그래서 내가 말하지만 나를 섬기는 종들은 먹고 마실 것이 풍성할 것이나 그들은 굶주리고 목마를 것이다. 내 종들은 즐거워할 것이지만 그들은 수치를 당할 것이며
14내 종들은 기뻐서 노래할 것이나 그들은 슬픔과 절망 가운데서 통곡할 것이다.
15내가 택한 백성들이 그들의 이름을 저줏거리로 사용할 것이니 나 여호와가 그들은 죽이고 내 종들에게는 새로운 이름을 줄 것이다.
16복을 구하는 자들이 진리의 하나님께 복을 구하며 맹세하는 자들이 신실한 하나님의 이름으로 맹세할 때가 올 것이다. 이것은 내가 지나간 일들을 다 잊어버릴 것이기 때문이다.”
새 하늘과 새 땅
17여호와께서 말씀하신다. “보라! 내가 새 하늘과 새 땅을 창조한다. 이전 것은 기억되거나 생각나지 않을 것이다.
18너희는 내가 창조하는 것을 보고 영원히 기뻐하며 즐거워하라. 내가 만들 새 예루살렘은 기쁨이 충만할 것이며 그 백성들은 행복할 것이다.
19내가 예루살렘과 그 백성 때문에 기뻐할 것이니 다시는 거기서 우는 소리와 부르짖는 소리가 들리지 않을 것이다.
20거기에는 며칠 살지 못하고 죽는 유아가 없을 것이며 제 명대로 다 살지 못하는 사람이 없을 것이다. 백 세에 죽는 사람도 젊어서 죽는 사람으로 여기고 백 세가 되지 못해서 죽는 사람은 저주를 받은 것으로 여길 것이다.
21내 백성이 집을 짓고 거기에 살며 포도원을 가꾸어 그 포도를 먹을 것이다.
22그들이 지은 집에 다른 사람이 살지 않을 것이며 그들이 재배한 것을 타인이 먹지 않을 것이다. 이것은 그들이 나무처럼 오래 살며 자기들이 수고하여 얻은 것을 길이 누릴 것이기 때문이다.
23그들의 수고가 헛되지 않을 것이며 그들의 자녀들이 재난을 만나지 않을 것이다. 내가 그들과 그 후손들을 축복하겠다.
24그들이 나를 부르기도 전에 내가 대답할 것이며 그들이 말을 끝맺기도 전에 내가 그들의 기도에 응답할 것이다.
25이리와 어린 양이 함께 먹고 사자가 소처럼 짚을 먹을 것이며 뱀이 흙을 먹고 살 것이다. 이와 같이 나의 거룩한 산에서는 상하거나 해치는 일이 없을 것이다.”
The Lord Judges and Saves
1The Lord says, “I made myself known to those who were not asking for me.
I was found by those who were not trying to find me.
I spoke to a nation that did not pray to me.
‘Here I am,’ I said. ‘Here I am.’
2All day long I have held out my hands
to welcome a stubborn nation.
They lead sinful lives.
They go where their evil thoughts take them.
3They are always making me very angry.
They do it right in front of me.
They offer sacrifices in the gardens of other gods.
They burn incense on altars that are made out of bricks.
4They sit among the graves.
They spend their nights talking to the spirits of the dead.
They eat the meat of pigs.
Their cooking pots hold soup that has ‘unclean’ meat in it.
5They say, ‘Keep away! Don’t come near us!
We are too sacred for you!’
Those people are like smoke in my nose.
They are like a fire that keeps burning all day.
6“I will judge them. I have even written it down.
I will not keep silent.
Instead, I will pay them back for all their sins.
7I will punish them for their sins.
I will also punish them for the sins of their people before them.”
This is what the Lord says.
“They burned sacrifices on the mountains.
They disobeyed me by worshiping other gods on the hills.
So I will make sure they are fully punished
for all the sins they have committed.”
8The Lord says,
“Sometimes juice is still left in grapes that have been crushed.
So people say, ‘Don’t destroy them.’
They are still of some benefit.”
That is what I will do for the good of those who serve me.
I will not destroy all my people.
9I will give children
to the families of Jacob and Judah.
They will possess my entire land.
My chosen people will be given all of it.
Those who serve me will live there.
10Their flocks will eat in the rich grasslands of Sharon.
Their herds will rest in the Valley of Achor.
That is what I will do for my people who follow me.
11“But some of you have deserted me.
You no longer worship on my holy mountain of Zion.
You spread a table for the god called Good Fortune.
You offer bowls of mixed wine to the god named Fate.
12So I will make it your fate to be killed by swords.
All of you will die in the battle.
That’s because I called out to you, but you did not answer me.
I spoke to you, but you did not listen.
You did what is evil in my sight.
You chose to do what does not please me.”
13So the Lord and King says,
“Those who serve me will have food to eat.
But you will be hungry.
My servants will have plenty to drink.
But you will be thirsty.
Those who serve me will be full of joy.
But you will be put to shame.
14My servants will sing
with joy in their hearts.
But you will cry out
because of the great pain in your hearts.
You will cry because your spirits are sad.
15My chosen ones will use your names
when they curse others.
I am your Lord and King.
I will put you to death.
But I will give new names to those who serve me.
16They will ask me to bless their land.
They will do it in my name.
I am the one true God.
They will make promises in their land.
They will do it in my name.
I am the one true God.
The troubles of the past will be forgotten.
They will be hidden from my eyes.
The Lord Will Create New Heavens and a New Earth
17“I will create new heavens and a new earth.
The things that have happened before will not be remembered.
They will not even enter your minds.
18So be glad and full of joy forever
because of what I will create.
I will cause others to take delight in Jerusalem.
They will be filled with joy
when they see its people.
19And I will be full of joy because of Jerusalem.
I will take delight in my people.
Weeping and crying
will not be heard there anymore.
20“Babies in Jerusalem will no longer
live only a few days.
Old people will not fail
to live for a very long time.
Those who live to the age of 100
will be thought of as mere children when they die.
Those who die before they are 100
will be considered as having been under God’s curse.
21My people will build houses and live in them.
They will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22They will no longer build houses
only to have others live in them.
They will no longer plant crops
only to have others eat them.
My people will live to be as old as trees.
My chosen ones will enjoy for a long time
the things they have worked for.
23Their work will not be worthless anymore.
They will not have children who are sure to face sudden terror.
Instead, I will bless them.
I will also bless their children after them.
24Even before they call out to me, I will answer them.
While they are still speaking, I will hear them.
25Wolves and lambs will eat together.
Lions will eat straw like oxen.
Serpents will eat nothing but dust.
None of those animals will harm or destroy
anything or anyone on my holy mountain of Zion,”
says the Lord.
