다마스커스에 대한 예언
1이것은 다마스커스에 대한 여호와의 말씀이다. “앞으로 다마스커스는 도시가 되지 못하고 폐허의 돌무더기가 될 것이다.
2아로엘의 성들이 버림을 당하여 양떼나 소떼가 풀을 뜯어먹고 누워도 그들을 놀라게 할 자가 없을 것이며
3에브라임에서 요새화된 성들이 사라지고 다마스커스에서 왕권이 무너지며 시리아의 남은 자들이 멸망하여 이스라엘의 17:3 또는 ‘영광같이’운명처럼 될 것이다. 이것은 전능한 나 여호와의 말이다.”
4여호와께서 다시 말씀하셨다. “이스라엘의 영광이 시들고 그 부가 가난으로 바뀔 날이 올 것이다.
5그때 이스라엘은 곡식을 베어 낸 르바임 골짜기의 황량한 밭과 같을 것이다.
6그러나 감람나무를 흔들어 떨어도 가장 높은 가지에 서너 개의 열매가 남아 있듯이 황량한 그 밭에도 약간의 이삭은 남아 있을 것이다. 이것은 이스라엘의 하나님 나 여호와의 말이다.”
7그때 사람들은 자기들의 창조자인 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님을 바라볼 것이며
8자기들의 손으로 만든 우상의 제단을 쳐다보지 않고 공작물에 불과한 아세라 여신상이나 태양상을 바라보지 않을 것이다.
9그 날에 튼튼한 성들이 버림을 당해 옛날 17:9 원문에는 ‘수풀 속의 처소와 작은 산꼭대기의 처소’히위 사람들과 아모리 사람들이 이스라엘 사람들 앞에서 버리고 간 성처럼 폐허가 될 것이다.
10이스라엘아, 네가 너를 구원하고 보호하는 튼튼한 반석 같은 하나님을 잊어버렸다. 그러므로 네가 좋아하는 나무를 이식하고 이방의 포도나무를 심어
11바로 그 날 아침에 그것이 싹이 나서 꽃이 피고 잘 자랄지라도 네가 그 열매를 거두지 못할 것이며 너에게는 슬픔과 고통만 있을 것이다.
12소란을 피우며 성난 파도처럼 밀려오는 많은 민족을 보라.
13수많은 적군이 물밀듯이 밀어닥치나 하나님이 그들을 꾸짖으시니 산언덕에 있는 겨가 바람에 날리고 회오리바람에 티끌이 떠다니듯 그들이 멀리 달아나고 흩어지는구나.
14그들이 저녁에는 가공할 만한 존재였으나 아침이 되기도 전에 사라져 버렸으니 이것이 하나님의 백성을 약탈하는 자들의 운명이다.
A Prophecy Against Damascus
1A prophecy against Damascus:
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
2The cities of Aroer will be deserted
and left to flocks, which will lie down,
with no one to make them afraid.
3The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the Israelites,”
declares the Lord Almighty.
4“In that day the glory of Jacob will fade;
the fat of his body will waste away.
5It will be as when reapers harvest the standing grain,
gathering the grain in their arms—
as when someone gleans heads of grain
in the Valley of Rephaim.
6Yet some gleanings will remain,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches,
four or five on the fruitful boughs,”
declares the Lord, the God of Israel.
7In that day people will look to their Maker
and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
8They will not look to the altars,
the work of their hands,
and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles17:8 That is, wooden symbols of the goddess Asherah
and the incense altars their fingers have made.
9In that day their strong cities, which they left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to thickets and undergrowth. And all will be desolation.
10You have forgotten God your Savior;
you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress.
Therefore, though you set out the finest plants
and plant imported vines,
11though on the day you set them out, you make them grow,
and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud,
yet the harvest will be as nothing
in the day of disease and incurable pain.
12Woe to the many nations that rage—
they rage like the raging sea!
Woe to the peoples who roar—
they roar like the roaring of great waters!
13Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters,
when he rebukes them they flee far away,
driven before the wind like chaff on the hills,
like tumbleweed before a gale.
14In the evening, sudden terror!
Before the morning, they are gone!
This is the portion of those who loot us,
the lot of those who plunder us.
