1예수님은 이 말씀을 마치시고 갈릴리를 떠나 요단강 건너편 유대 지방 으로 가셨다.
2그때 많은 군중이 따르므로 예수님은 거기서도 병자들을 고쳐 주셨다.
결혼과 이혼
3바리새파 사람들이 예수님을 시험하려고 와서 “구실만 있으면 남편이 아내를 버려도 좋습니까?” 하고 물었다.
4그래서 예수님은 이렇게 대답하셨다. “너희는 사람을 창조하신 분이 처음에 남자와 여자를 만드시고
519:5 창2:24‘그러므로 남자가 부모를 떠나 자기 아내와 합하여 두 사람이 한몸이 될 것이다’ 라고 하신 말씀을 읽지 못하였느냐?
6그렇게 되면 두 몸이 아니라 한몸이다. 그러므로 하나님께서 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 나누지 못할 것이다.”
7“그렇다면 왜 모세는 ‘이혼 증서를 써 주고 아내와 이혼하라’ 고 했습니까?” 하고 그들이 묻자
8예수님은 이렇게 대답하셨다. “그것은 너희가 고집이 세고 악하기 때문에 아내와 이혼하는 것을 허락한 것이지 처음부터 그랬던 것은 아니다.
919:9 고대 사본에는 9절 끝에 ‘또 이혼한 여자와 결혼하는 사람은 간음죄를 짓는 것이다’ 가 더 있음.그래서 내가 너희에게 말하지만 음행한 일도 없는데 자기 아내와 이혼하고 다른 여자와 결혼하는 사람은 간음죄를 짓는 것이다.”
10제자들이 예수님께 “남편과 아내의 관계가 그런 것이라면 차라리 결혼하지 않는 것이 더 낫겠습니다” 하자
11예수님이 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “모든 사람이 다 이 말대로 할 수는 없고 하나님이 허락하신 사람들만 그렇게 할 수 있다.
12처음부터 결혼할 수 없는 몸으로 태어난 남자도 있고 19:12 원문에는 ‘사람이 만든 고자’불구자가 되어서 결혼할 수 없는 남자도 있으며 하늘 나라를 위해 스스로 결혼을 포기한 사람도 있다. 이 교훈을 받아들일 수 있는 사람은 받아들여라.”
13그때 사람들이 손을 얹어 축복해 달라고 어린 아이들을 예수님께 데려왔으나 제자들이 그 사람들을 꾸짖었다.
14그래서 예수님은 “어린 아이들이 나에게 오는 것을 막지 말아라. 하늘 나라는 이런 어린 아이와 같은 사람들의 것이다” 하고 말씀하셨다.
15그러고서 예수님은 어린 아이들의 머리 위에 손을 얹어 축복하시고 그 곳을 떠나셨다.
부자 청년
16한 청년이 예수님께 와서 물었다. “선생님, 제가 영원한 생명을 얻으려면 어떤 선한 일을 해야 합니까?”
17“어째서 선한 일을 나에게 묻느냐? 선한 분은 한 분밖에 없다. 네가 영원한 생명을 얻으려면 계명을 지켜라.”
18“어느 계명입니까?” “19:18 출20:12－16, 신5:16－20‘살인하지 말아라. 간음하지 말아라. 도둑질하지 말아라. 거짓 증언하지 말아라.
19네 부모를 공경하라.’ 그리고 19:19 레19:18‘네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라’ 는 계명이다.”
20“저는 이 모든 계명을 다 지켰습니다. 아직 저에게 부족한 것이 있다면 무엇입니까?”
21“네가 완전한 사람이 되려면 가서 네 재산을 다 팔아 가난한 사람들에게 주어라. 그러면 네가 하늘에서 보물을 얻을 것이다. 그리고 와서 나를 따르라.”
22그러나 그 청년은 재산이 많으므로 이 말씀을 듣고 근심하며 가 버렸다.
23그때 예수님이 제자들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “내가 분명히 너희에게 말한다. 부자는 하늘 나라에 들어가기가 매우 어렵다.
24내가 다시 말하지만 부자가 하나님의 나라에 들어가는 것보다 낙타가 바늘귀로 통과하는 것이 더 쉽다.”
25제자들이 이 말씀을 듣고 몹시 놀라 “그렇다면 누가 구원받을 수 있겠습니까?” 하고 물었다.
26예수님은 제자들을 바라보시며 “사람의 힘으로는 할 수 없지만 하나님께서는 다 하실 수 있다” 하고 대답하셨다.
27그때 베드로가 예수님께 “우리는 모든 것을 버리고 주님을 따랐으니 무엇을 받겠습니까?” 하고 묻자
28예수님은 이렇게 대답하셨다. “내가 분명히 말한다. 19:28 원문에는 ‘그 세대에’새 시대가 되어 19:28 원문에는 ‘인자’ (사람의 아들)내가 나의 영광스러운 보좌에 앉을 때 너희도 열두 보좌에 앉아 이스라엘의 열두 지파를 심판할 것이다.
29또 나를 위해 집이나 형제나 자매나 19:29 어떤 사본에는 ‘부모나’ 다음에 ‘아내나’ 가 더 있음.부모나 자녀나 논밭을 버린 사람은 누구든지 19:29 많은 사본에 ‘백 배’ 로 되어 있음.여러 갑절의 상을 받을 것이며 영원한 생명을 얻을 것이다.
30그러나 지금 앞서도 나중에 뒤떨어지고 지금은 뒤떨어져도 나중에 앞설 사람이 많을 것이다.”
Jesus Teaches About Divorce
1When Jesus finished saying these things, he left Galilee. He went into the area of Judea on the other side of the Jordan River. 2Large crowds followed him. He healed them there.
3Some Pharisees came to test Jesus. They asked, “Does the Law allow a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”
4Jesus replied, “Haven’t you read that in the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’? (Genesis 1:27) 5He said, ‘That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. The two will become one.’ (Genesis 2:24) 6They are no longer two, but one. So no one should separate what God has joined together.”
7They asked, “Then why did Moses command that a man can give his wife a letter of divorce and send her away?”
8Jesus replied, “Moses let you divorce your wives because you were stubborn. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9Here is what I tell you. Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery. A man may divorce his wife only if she has not been faithful to him.”
10Here is what the disciples said to him. “If that’s the way it is between a husband and wife, it is better not to get married.”
11Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept the idea of staying single. Only those who have been helped to live without getting married can accept it. 12Some men are not able to have children because they were born that way. Some have been made that way by other people. Others have chosen to live that way in order to serve the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
Little Children Are Brought to Jesus
13Some people brought little children to Jesus. They wanted him to place his hands on the children and pray for them. But the disciples told them not to do it.
14Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them.” 15Jesus placed his hands on them to bless them. Then he went on from there.
Rich People and the Kingdom of God
16Just then, a man came up to Jesus. He asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to receive eternal life?”
17“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only one who is good. If you want to enter the kingdom, obey the commandments.”
18“Which ones?” the man asked.
Jesus said, “ ‘Do not murder. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not be a false witness. 19Honor your father and mother.’ (Exodus 20:12–16; Deuteronomy 5:16–20) And ‘love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ ” (Leviticus 19:18)
20“I have obeyed all those commandments,” the young man said. “What else do I need to do?”
21Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”
22When the young man heard this, he went away sad. He was very rich.
23Then Jesus said to his disciples, “What I’m about to tell you is true. It is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is hard for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. But it is even harder for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
25When the disciples heard this, they were really amazed. They asked, “Then who can be saved?”
26Jesus looked at them and said, “With people, this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible.”
27Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What reward will be given to us?”
28“What I’m about to tell you is true,” Jesus said to them. “When all things are made new, the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne. Then you who have followed me will also sit on 12 thrones. You will judge the 12 tribes of Israel. 29Suppose anyone has left houses, brothers or sisters, father or mother, husband or wife, children or fields because of me. Anyone who has done that will receive 100 times as much. They will also receive eternal life. 30But many who are first will be last. And many who are last will be first.
