1And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.2.1 Boaz: Gr. 4¶ And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee. 5Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this? 6And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab: 7And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house. 8Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens: 9Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn. 10Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger? 11And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. 12The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. 13Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.2.13 Let me…: or, I find2.13 friendly: Heb. to the heart 14And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. 17So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
18¶ And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed. 19And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man’s name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz. 20And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. روت و بوعز
1در بيت‌لحم مرد ثروتمندی به نام بوعز زندگی می‌كرد كه از بستگان شوهر نعومی بود.
2روزی روت به نعومی گفت: «اجازه بده به كشتزارها بروم و در زمين كسی كه به من اجازهٔ خوشه‌چينی بدهد خوشه‌هايی را كه بعد از درو باقی می‌ماند، جمع كنم.»2:2 نگاه کنيد به لاويان 19:9و10؛ تثنيه 24:19.
نعومی گفت: «بسيار خوب دخترم، برو.»
3پس روت به كشتزار رفته، مشغول خوشه‌چينی شد. اتفاقاً كشتزاری كه او در آن خوشه می‌چيد از آن بوعز، خويشاوند شوهر نعومی بود. 4در اين وقت، بوعز از شهر به كشتزار آمد. او به دروگران سلام كرده، گفت: «خداوند با شما باشد.»
آنها نيز در جواب گفتند: «خداوند تو را بركت دهد.»
5سپس بوعز از سركارگرش پرسيد: «اين زنی كه خوشه می‌چيند كيست؟»
6او جواب داد: «اين همان زن موآبی است كه همراه نعومی از موآب آمده است. 7او امروز صبح به اينجا آمد و از من اجازه گرفت تا به دنبال دروگران خوشه بچيند. از صبح تا حالا مشغول خوشه‌چينی است و فقط كمی زير سايبان استراحت كرده است.»
8-9بوعز پيش روت رفت و به او گفت: «گوش كن دخترم، به كشتزار ديگری نرو، همین‌جا با كنيزان من باش و در كشتراز من به دنبال دروگران خوشه‌چينی كن. به كارگرانم دستور داده‌ام كه مزاحم تو نشوند. هر وقت تشنه شدی برو و از كوزه‌های آبِ آنها بنوش.»
10روت رو بر زمين نهاد و از او تشكر كرد و گفت: «چرا با اينكه می‌دانيد من يک بيگانه‌ام، مرا مورد لطف خود قرار می‌دهيد؟»
11بوعز جواب داد: «می‌دانم پس از مرگ شوهرت چقدر به مادر شوهرت محبت كرده‌ای و چگونه به خاطر او پدر و مادر و زادگاه خود را ترک كرده و با وی به اينجا آمده‌ای تا در ميان قومی زندگی كنی كه آنها را نمی‌شناختی. 12خداوند، خدای اسرائيل كه به او پناه آورده‌ای پاداش اين فداكاری تو را بدهد.»
13روت در پاسخ وی گفت: «سرور من، شما نسبت به من خيلی لطف داريد. من حتی يكی از كنيزان شما نيز به حساب نمی‌آيم ولی با اين وجود با سخنانتان مرا دلداری می‌دهيد!»
14موقع نهار، بوعز او را صدا زده، گفت: «بيا غذا بخور.» روت رفت و پيش دروگرها نشست و بوعز خوراكی پيش او گذاشت و روت خورد و سير شد و از آن خوراكی مقداری نيز باقی ماند. 15-16وقتی روت به سركارش رفت، بوعز به دروگرانش گفت: «بگذاريد او هر جا می‌خواهد خوشه جمع كند حتی در ميان بافه‌ها، و مزاحم او نشويد. در ضمن عمداً خوشه‌هايی از بافه‌ها بيرون كشيده، بر زمين بريزيد تا او آنها را جمع كند.»
17روت تمام روز در آن كشتزار خوشه‌چينی كرد. غروب، آنچه را كه جمع كرده بود كوبيد و حدود ده كيلو جو به دست آمد. 18او آن را با باقيماندهٔ خوراک ظهر برداشته به شهر پيش مادر شوهرش برد.
19نعومی گفت: «دخترم، امروز در كجا خوشه‌چينی كردی؟ خدا به آن كسی كه به تو توجه نموده است بركت دهد.»
روت همهٔ ماجرا را برای مادر شوهرش تعريف كرد و گفت كه نام صاحب كشتزار بوعز است.
20نعومی به عروس خود گفت: «خداوند او را بركت دهد! خداوند به شوهر مرحوم تو احسان نموده و لطف خود را از ما دريغ نداشته است. آن شخص از بستگان نزديک ماست كه می‌تواند ولی ما باشد.»
21روت به مادر شوهرش گفت: «او به من گفت كه تا پايان فصل درو می‌توانم در كشتزارش به دنبال دروگرانش خوشه‌چينی كنم.»
22نعومی گفت: «بله دخترم، بهتر است با كنيزان بوعز خوشه‌چينی كنی. برای تو كشتزار بوعز از هر جای ديگری امن‌تر است.»
23پس روت تا پايان فصل درو جو و گندم نزد كنيزان بوعز به خوشه‌چينی مشغول شد. او همچنان با مادر شوهرش زندگی می‌كرد.
