1And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.2.1 Boaz: Gr. 4¶ And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee. 5Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this? 6And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab: 7And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house. 8Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens: 9Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn. 10Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger? 11And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. 12The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. 13Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.2.13 Let me…: or, I find2.13 friendly: Heb. to the heart 14And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left. 15And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:2.15 reproach…: Heb. shame her not 16And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
17So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
18¶ And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed. 19And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man’s name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz. 20And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.2.20 one of…: or, one that hath right to redeem 21And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest. 22And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.2.22 meet…: or, fall upon thee 23So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

4Unya miabot si Boaz gikan sa Betlehem ug mitimbaya sa mga mangangani, “Hinaut nga tabangan kamo sa Ginoo!” Mitubag ang mga mangangani, “Hinaut nga panalanginan ka sa Ginoo!” 5Unya nangutana si Boaz sa sulugoon nga gitugyanan niya sa pagdumala sa mga mangangani, “Kinsa kanang batan-on nga babaye?” 6Mitubag ang sulugoon, “Siya ang Moabihanon nga babaye nga miuban kang Noemi sa pagbalik niya dinhi gikan sa Moab. 7Mihangyo siya kanako nga tugotan ko siya sa pagpanghagdaw sa mga uhay nga nabilin sa mga mangangani. Wala gayoy undang ang iyang pagtrabaho sukad pa ganinang buntag hangtod karon. Mipahulay lang siya makadiyot sa payag.2:7 sukad pa ganinang… payag: o, gikan ganina sa buntag hangtod karon, ug wala gayod siyay pahulay bisan dali lang.” 8Miingon si Boaz kang Ruth, “Ayaw na pagpanghagdaw sa ubang uma. Dinhi ka na lang manghagdaw uban sa akong mga sulugoong babaye. 9Bantayi kon asa mangani ang akong mga tawo ug magsunod ka sa mga sulugoong babaye. Gipahimangnoan ko na ang akong mga tawo nga dili ka nila hilabtan. Ug kon uhawon ka, moinom ka lang diha sa mga banga nga gisudlan ug tubig sa akong mga tawo.”
10Miluhod si Ruth agig pagtahod kang Boaz ug miingon, “Nganong maayo ka man kaayo kanako nga usa man lang ako ka dumuduong?” 11Mitubag si Boaz, “May nagsugilon kanako sa tanan nga gihimo mo alang sa imong ugangang babaye sukad sa pagkamatay sa imong bana—ang bahin sa imong pagbiya sa imong amahan ug inahan ug sa dapit diin ikaw natawo ug mipuyo uban sa mga tawong wala mo mailhi. 12Hinaut nga gantihan ka sa Ginoo sa imong gihimo. Hinaut nga dako nga ganti ang imong madawat gikan sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel, nga imong gidangpan.” 13Miingon si Ruth, “Maayo ka kaayo kanako, sir. Gidasig mo ako ug giayo sa pagpakigsulti bisan dili ako usa sa imong mga sulugoon.”
14Sa dihang tingkaon na, miingon si Boaz kang Ruth, “Dali, pagkuhag pagkaon ug ituslob sa suka.” Busa milingkod si Ruth uban sa mga mangangani, ug gitunolan siya ni Boaz ug sinanlag nga lugas. Mikaon siya hangtod nabusog pag-ayo ug may salin pa gani siya. 15Sa dihang mitindog na si Ruth aron manghagdaw pag-usab, giingnan ni Boaz ang iyang mga tawo, “Bisan manghagdaw pa si Ruth duol sa mga binugkos nga mga uhay ayaw ninyo siya pakaulawi.2:15 Ipadaplin sa mga mangangani ang mga uhay nga ilang gigalab ug sundon kadto paghipos sa mga babaye ug bugkoson. Pagkahuman nga makuha ang mga binugkos nga mga uhay, mahimo na dayong mahagdaw ang nangabilin nga mga uhay. Apan si Ruth gitugotan ni Boaz nga manghagdaw bisan wala pa makuha ang mga binugkos nga mga uhay. 16Kuhai hinuon ninyo siya ug mga uhay gikan sa mga binugkos ug ibilin alang kaniya, ug ayaw ninyo siya badlonga.”
17Busa nanghagdaw si Ruth sa mga uhay hangtod sa pagsalop sa adlaw. Ug sa dihang nagiok na niya ang iyang nahagdaw nga barley, mga tunga kini sa sako. 18Gidala niya kini pauli sa lungsod ug gipakita sa iyang ugangan2:18 ug gipakita sa iyang ugangan: o, ug nakita kini sa iyang ugangan. nga si Noemi. Ug gikuha niya ang sobra sa iyang gikaon ug gihatag kang Noemi. 19Nangutana si Noemi kaniya, “Diin ka nanghagdaw karong adlawa? Kang kinsang uma ka nanghagdaw? Bulahan ang tawo nga naghatag ug maayong pagtagad kanimo.”
Gisuginlan ni Ruth si Noemi nga didto siya nanghagdaw sa uma sa usa ka tawo nga ginganlag Boaz. 20Miingon si Noemi, “Hinaut nga panalanginan sa Ginoo si Boaz. Ginapakita niya ang iyang kaayo sa mga tawo nga buhi pa ug sa mga nangamatay na.” Ug miingon pa gayod siya, “Kana si Boaz duol natong paryente; usa siya nga may obligasyon sa pag-atiman kanato.”
21Miingon si Ruth, “Miingon pa gani si Boaz kanako nga sa iya na lang nga mga tawo ako mouban sa pagpanghagdaw hangtod mahuman ang tanan niyang anihon.” 22Miingon si Noemi kang Ruth, “Anak, mas maayo hinuon kon didto ka mouban sa iyang mga sulugoong babaye, kay basin kon unsa pa ang mahitabo kanimo kon didto ka manghagdaw sa ubang uma.”
23Busa didto nagauban-uban si Ruth sa mga sulugoong babaye ni Boaz sa pagpanghagdaw hangtod nga nahuman ang ting-ani sa barley ug sa trigo. Ug pabilin siya nga nagpuyo uban sa iyang ugangan.
