2Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
3LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
4How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
5They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
6They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
7Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
8Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
11The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
13That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

16Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.94.17 almost: or, quickly
18When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
19In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
20Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
21They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
22But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
23And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
Recht muss doch Recht bleiben!
1O Gott, greif ein! Herr, du Gott der Vergeltung,
erscheine in deinem strahlenden Glanz!
2Erhebe dich, du Richter der ganzen Welt!
Gib den Hochmütigen, was sie verdienen!
3Wie lange noch sollen sie hämisch lachen,
wie lange noch schadenfroh spotten?
4Einer versucht, den anderen zu überbieten,
sie schwingen große Reden und prahlen mit ihren Verbrechen.
5Herr, sie unterdrücken dein Volk!
Alle, die zu dir gehören, leiden unter ihrer Gewalt.
6Brutal ermorden sie Witwen und Waisen,
schutzlose Ausländer schlagen sie tot.
7»Der Herr sieht es ja doch nicht!«, höhnen sie,
»der Gott Jakobs merkt nichts davon!«
8Ihr Dummköpfe! Seid ihr wirklich so unverständig?
Wann kommt ihr Narren endlich zur Vernunft?
9Gott, der den Menschen Ohren gegeben hat –
sollte er selbst nicht hören?
Er gab ihnen Augen – sollte er selbst nicht sehen?
10Er, der mit den Völkern ins Gericht geht –
sollte er nicht auch euch bestrafen?
Ja, Gott bringt die Menschen zur Vernunft!
11Er durchschaut ihre Gedanken und weiß:
Sie sind wertlos und führen zu nichts.
12Glücklich ist der Mensch, den du, Herr, zurechtweist
und den du in deinem Gesetz unterrichtest!
13Denn du willst ihn bewahren, wenn die Bösen ihr Unwesen treiben,
so lange, bis die Übeltäter zur Strecke gebracht sind.
14Denn der Herr wird sein Volk nicht verstoßen;
wer zu ihm gehört, den lässt er nicht im Stich.
15Gerechtigkeit und Recht werden wieder einkehren,
und die aufrichtig mit Gott leben, werden sie willkommen heißen.
16Wer steht mir bei gegen all diese Verbrecher?
Wer beschützt mich vor denen, die Böses tun?
17Herr, wenn du mir nicht geholfen hättest,
dann wäre ich jetzt tot – für immer verstummt!
18Sooft ich dachte: »Jetzt ist alles aus!«,
halfst du mir in Liebe wieder auf.
19Als mir die Sorgen keine Ruhe mehr ließen,
hast du mich getröstet und wieder froh gemacht.
20Du hältst niemals zu den bestechlichen Richtern,
die Unheil anrichten, indem sie das Gesetz missbrauchen.
21Sie aber verbünden sich gegen jeden, dem das Recht am Herzen liegt,
und sprechen ihm sein Urteil, obwohl er doch unschuldig ist!
22Der Herr aber schützt mich wie eine sichere Burg,
er ist der Fels, bei dem ich Zuflucht finde.
23Die Richter müssen für ihre Untaten büßen,
für ihre Verbrechen wird Gott sie bestrafen.
Ja, der Herr, unser Gott, wird sie vernichten!
