A Prayer of Moses the man of God.

2Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
3Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
4For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.90.4 when…: or, when he hath passed them
5Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.90.5 groweth…: or, is changed
6In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
7For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
8Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

11Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
12So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.90.12 apply: Heb. cause to come
13Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
14O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
15Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.
16Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
17And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
كتاب چهارم
(مزامير 90—106)
دعای موسی، مرد خدا
1ای خداوند، تو هميشه پناهگاه ما بوده‌ای.
2قبل از آنكه دنيا را بيافرينی و كوهها را بوجود آوری، تو بوده‌ای. تو را ابتدا و انتهايی نيست.
3انسان را به خاک برمی‌گردانی و می‌گويی: «ای خاكيان، به خاک تبديل شويد!»
4هزار سال در نظر تو چون يک روز، بلكه چون يک ساعت است.
5-6تو انسان را چون سيلاب از جای بر می‌كنی و می‌بری. زندگی او خوابی بيش نيست. او مانند گياهی است كه صبح می‌رويد و می‌شكفد ولی عصر پژمرده و خشک می‌شود.
7بر اثر غضب تو ما رو به نابودی می‌رويم و خشم تو ما را پريشان و بی‌قرار ساخته است. 8گناهان ما را در برابر چشمان خود گذاشته‌ای و هيچ خطای ما از ديد تو پنهان نيست.
9روزهای زندگی ما بر اثر خشم تو كوتاه شده است و عمر خود را مثل يک خواب می‌گذرانيم. 10عمر ما هفتاد سال است و اگر قوی باشيم، شايد به هشتاد سال برسد. ولی در طول اين مدت چيزی جز درد و رنج نصيب ما نمی‌شود. هر آن ممكن است عمرمان بسرايد و به عالم ديگر پرواز كنيم.
11خداوندا، كيست كه بداند شدت خشم تو چقدر است؟ كدام يک از ما چنانكه بايد و شايد از تو می‌ترسد؟ 12به ما ياد بده كه بدانيم عمر ما چه زودگذر است تا در اين عمر كوتاه با خردمندی زندگی كنيم.
13ای خداوند، تا به كی بر ما خشمگين خواهی بود. از خشم خود برگرد و بر بندگان خود رحم كن. 14صبحگاهان ما را از رحمت خود بهره‌مند گردان تا در تمام عمر خود شادمان باشيم. 15به اندازهٔ سالهايی كه ما را ذليل و خوار ساخته‌ای، ما را شاد و سرافراز گردان. 16بگذار ما بندگانت بار ديگر اعمال شگفت‌انگيز تو را مشاهده كنيم. عظمت خود را بر فرزندانمان نمايان ساز. 17خداوندا، ما را مورد لطف خود قرار بده و در تمام كارهايمان ما را بركت عطا فرما، بلی، در تمام كارهايمان ما را بركت عطا فرما!
