1Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.81.1 of Asaph: or, for Asaph
2Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
4For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
5This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.81.5 through: or, against

7Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.81.7 Meribah: or, Strife
8Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
12So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.81.12 unto…: or, to the hardness of their hearts, or, imagination
13Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
14I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

سرود عيد
1خدای اسرائيل را كه قوت ماست با سرودهای شاد ستايش كنيد! 2با دف و بربط دلنواز و رباب سرود بخوانيد. 3شيپورها را در روز عيد به صدا درآوريد در اول ماه و در ماه تمام. 4زيرا اين در اسرائيل رسم است و حكمی است از جانب خدای يعقوب. 5خداوند اين عيد را به هنگام بيرون آمدن بنی‌اسرائيل از مصر، مملكتی كه زبانش برای ما بيگانه بود، برای آنها تعيين كرد.
خداوند می‌فرمايد: 6«بار سنگين بردگی را از دوش تو برداشتم. دستهايت را از حمل سبدها رها ساختم. 7وقتی در زحمت بودی دعا كردی و من تو را رهانيدم. از ميان رعد و برق به تو پاسخ دادم و در كنار چشمه‌های ”مريبه“ ايمان تو را آزمايش كردم. 8ای قوم خاص من بشنو، به تو اخطار می‌كنم! ای اسرائيل، به من گوش بده! 9هرگز نبايد خدای ديگری را پرستش نمايی. 10من كه تو را از بردگی در مصر رهانيدم، خدای تو هستم. دهان خود را باز كن و من آن را از بركات خود پر خواهم ساخت.
11«اما بنی‌اسرائيل سخن مرا نشنيدند و مرا اطاعت نكردند. 12پس من هم ايشان را رها كردم تا به راه خود روند و مطابق ميل خود زندگی كنند. 13اما ای كاش به من گوش می‌دادند و مطابق دستورات من زندگی می‌كردند. 14آنگاه بی‌درنگ دشمنانشان را شكست می‌دادم و همهٔ مخالفانشان را مغلوب می‌ساختم؛ 15كسانی كه از من نفرت داشتند در حضور من به خاک می‌افتادند و گرفتار عذاب جاودانی می‌شدند؛ 16و من اسرائيل را با بهترين گندم و عسل می‌پروراندم.»
