1Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
2I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.69.2 deep mire: Heb. the mire of depth69.2 deep waters: Heb. depth of waters
3I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
5O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.69.5 sins: Heb. guiltiness
6Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
7Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
8I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.
9For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
10When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
11I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
12They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.69.12 drunkards: Heb. drinkers of strong drink
13But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
14Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
15Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
16Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
17And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.69.17 hear…: Heb. make haste to hear me
18Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.
19Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
20Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.69.20 to take…: Heb. to lament with me
21They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
22Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
23Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
24Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

26For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.69.26 those…: Heb. thy wounded
27Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.69.27 iniquity unto…: or, punishment of iniquity, etc
28Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.
29But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.
30I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
31This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
32The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.69.32 humble: or, meek
33For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
34Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.69.34 moveth: Heb. creepeth
35For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
36The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

2O mon Dieu, sauve-moi,
j’ai de l’eau jusqu’au cou.
3Dans une boue profonde, je m’enlise, ╵sans point d’appui.
Me voici descendu ╵au plus profond des eaux ; ╵un fort courant m’emporte.
4Je m’épuise à crier, ╵mon gosier est brûlant,
mes yeux se sont usés ╵à attendre mon Dieu.

ont dépassé le nombre ╵des cheveux de ma tête.
Ils sont puissants, ╵mes ennemis menteurs : ╵qui veulent me détruire.
Je dois restituer ╵ce que je n’ai pas extorqué.
6O Dieu, tu sais ╵comme j’ai été insensé,
et mes actes coupables ╵ne te sont pas cachés.
7Qu’ils ne soient pas dans la honte à cause de moi, ╵ceux qui ont mis leur espérance en toi,
ô Eternel, ╵ô Seigneur des armées célestes !
Que ceux qui se tournent vers toi ╵ne soient pas à cause de moi ╵remplis de confusion,
Dieu d’Israël !
8Car c’est pour toi ╵que je porte l’opprobre
et que la confusion ╵me couvre le visage.
9Me voilà devenu ╵étranger pour mes frères
et comme un inconnu ╵pour les fils de ma mère !
10L’amour que j’ai pour ta maison ╵est en moi comme un feu ╵qui me consume69.10 Cité en Jn 2.17.,
et les insultes ╵des hommes qui t’insultent ╵sont retombées sur moi69.10 Cité en Rm 15.3..
11Quand je pleure et je jeûne,
je reçois des insultes.
12Je me revêts ╵d’une toile de sac,
et je deviens pour eux ╵un objet de risée.
13Les gens qui sont assis ╵sur la place publique ╵aux portes de la ville,
et les buveurs d’alcool ╵font de moi leur chanson.
14Quant à moi, je t’exprime ma prière :
ô Eternel, ╵n’est-ce pas le moment ╵de montrer ta faveur ?
Exauce-moi, ô Dieu, ╵dans ton immense amour
et sauve-moi ╵dans ta fidélité !
15Tire-moi de la boue ! ╵Que je n’enfonce pas !
Viens donc me délivrer ╵de ceux qui me haïssent,
et des profondes eaux !
16Que je ne sois pas emporté ╵par le fort courant d’eau
et que l’abîme ╵ne m’engloutisse pas !
Que le gouffre béant ╵ne se referme pas sur moi !
17Réponds-moi, Eternel, ╵ton amour est si bon !
Dans ta grande compassion, ╵occupe-toi de moi !
18Ne te détourne plus ╵de moi, ton serviteur !
Je suis dans la détresse, ╵réponds-moi sans tarder !

Ils sont là, devant toi, ╵tous mes persécuteurs.
21L’opprobre me brise le cœur, ╵je ne m’en remets pas ;
j’espère un geste ╵de sympathie en ma faveur, ╵mais mon attente est vaine,
quelqu’un qui me console, ╵mais je n’en trouve pas.

23Que leurs banquets deviennent ╵un piège devant eux,

24Que leurs yeux s’obscurcissent ╵au point de ne plus voir,
fais-leur courber le dos ╵continuellement !
25Que ton indignation ╵se déverse sur eux !
Que ta colère ardente les atteigne !
26Que les lieux où ils campent ╵soient dévastés,
que leurs demeures ╵soient privées d’habitants69.26 Cité en Ac 1.20 à propos de la mort de Judas. !
27Ils se sont acharnés ╵sur celui que tu as frappé,
ils se sont répandus ╵en commérages ╵sur les malheurs de ceux ╵que tu avais blessés.
28Charge-les donc ╵de tous leurs crimes,
et qu’ils ne soient pas mis ╵au bénéfice ╵de ta justice !
29Que leurs noms soient rayés ╵du livre des vivants69.29 Voir Ex 32.32-33 ; Dn 12.1 ; Lc 10.20 ; Ph 4.3 ; Ap 13.8 ; 17.8 ; 20.12, 15 ; 21.27. !
Qu’ils ne soient pas inscrits ╵parmi les justes !
30Je suis affligé et je souffre,
mais ton secours, ô Dieu, ╵me mettra à l’abri.
31Alors je te louerai, ╵ô Dieu, dans mes cantiques,
je dirai ta grandeur ╵avec reconnaissance.
32Voilà, ô Eternel, ╵qui te plaît plus qu’un bœuf ╵ou qu’un taureau
ayant sabots et cornes69.32 Voir 50.10-14 ; 51.18-19..
33O vous, les affligés, ╵voyez, réjouissez-vous !
Oui, vous qui vous tournez vers Dieu, ╵que votre cœur soit vivifié !
34Car l’Eternel entend ╵les cris des défavorisés,
il ne méprise pas ╵ceux qui lui appartiennent ╵quand ils sont en prison.
35Que le ciel et la terre ╵entonnent ses louanges
et que les mers l’acclament ╵avec tout être qui s’y meut !
36Car Dieu viendra sauver ╵la ville de Sion ╵et il rebâtira ╵les cités de Juda.
On y habitera, ╵on les possédera.
37Quant à la descendance ╵des serviteurs de l’Eternel, ╵elle en héritera,
et ceux qui l’aiment ╵y feront leur demeure.
