To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD.
1The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.36.2 until…: Heb. to find his iniquity to hate
3The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
4He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.36.4 mischief: or, vanity
5Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
6Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.36.6 the…: Heb. the mountains of God
7How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.36.7 excellent: Heb. precious
8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.36.8 abundantly…: Heb. watered
9For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
10O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.36.10 continue: Heb. draw out at length
11Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
12There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
شرارت انسان و نيكی خداوند
1گناه در عمق دل انسان شرور لانه كرده است و ترس خدا در دل او جای ندارد. 2او چنان از خود راضی است كه فكر می‌كند گناهش برملا نخواهد شد و او از مجازات فرار خواهد كرد. 3سخنانش شرارت‌آميز و مملو از دروغ است؛ خِرَد و نيكی در وجودش نيست. 4به راههای كج می‌رود و از كارهای خلاف دست نمی‌كشد.
5رحمت تو، ای خداوند، تا به آسمانها می‌رسد و وفاداری تو به بالاتر از ابرها! 6عدالت تو همچون کوههای بزرگ پابرجاست؛ احكام تو مانند دريا عميق است. ای خداوند، تو حافظ انسانها و حيوانات هستی.
7خدايا، رحمت تو چه عظيم است! آدميان زير سايهٔ بالهای تو پناه می‌گيرند. 8آنها از بركت خانهٔ تو سير می‌شوند و تو از چشمهٔ نيكويی خود به آنها می‌نوشانی. 9تو سرچشمهٔ حيات هستی؛ از نور تو است كه ما نور حيات را می‌بينيم!
10خداوندا، رحمت تو هميشه بر كسانی كه تو را می‌شناسند باقی بماند و نيكويی تو پيوسته همراه درستكاران باشد. 11نگذار متكبران به من حمله كنند و شروران مرا متواری سازند.
12ببينيد چگونه بدكاران افتاده‌اند! آنها نقش زمين شده‌اند و ديگر نمی‌توانند برخيزند!
