A Psalm of David.
1Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.28.1 to me: Heb. from me
2Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.28.2 thy…: or, the oracle of thy sanctuary
3Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
4Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.
5Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
6Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
8The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.28.8 their: or, his28.8 saving…: Heb. strength of salvations
9Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.28.9 feed: or, rule
طلب كمک از خداوند
1ای خداوند، نزد تو فرياد برمی‌آورم؛ ای تكيه‌گاه من، دعايم را بشنو! اگر دعای مرا نشنوی به سرنوشت كسانی دچار خواهم شد كه الان در قبرها خفته‌اند. 2وقتی دستهای خود را به سوی تو بلند می‌كنم و با گريه و زاری از تو كمک می‌طلبم، مرا اجابت فرما. 3مرا جزو بدكاران و شروران محسوب نكن. آنها در ظاهر با همسايگان خود سخنان دوستانه می‌گويند، اما در دل خود قصد اذيت و آزارشان را دارند. 4آنها را برای آنچه كه كرده‌اند مجازات كن! برای كارهای زشتی كه مرتكب شده‌اند، مزدشان را كف دستشان بگذار! 5آنها را چنان بر زمين بكوب كه ديگر نتوانند بلند شوند، زيرا به آفرينش و كارهای دست تو اهميت نمی‌دهند.
6خدا را سپاس باد! او فرياد مرا كه از او كمک طلبيدم، شنيده است. 7خداوند قوت و سپر من است. از صميم قلب بر او توكل كردم و او مرا ياری كرد. از اين رو، دلم شاد است و با سرود از او تشكر می‌نمايم.
8خداوند قوم خود را حفظ می‌كند و از پادشاه برگزيدهٔ خويش حمايت می‌نمايد و او را نجات می‌بخشد. 9ای خداوند، قوم برگزيدهٔ خود را نجات ده و عزيزان خود را بركت عنايت فرما. تو شبان آنها باش و تا ابد از ايشان نگهداری كن!
