1Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.16.1 Michtam: or, A golden Psalm
2O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.16.4 hasten…: or, give gifts to another
5The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.16.5 of mine…: Heb. of my part
6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.16.9 rest…: Heb. dwell confidently
10For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Poema epigráfico davídico.
1Protege-me, ó Deus,
pois em ti me refugio.
2Ao Senhor declaro: “Tu és o meu Senhor;
não tenho bem nenhum além de ti”.
3Quanto aos fiéis que há na terra,
eles é que são os notáveis em quem está todo o meu prazer.
4Grande será o sofrimento dos que correm atrás de outros deuses.16.3,4 Ou Quanto aos sacerdotes pagãos que estão na terra e aos nobres em quem todos têm prazer, eu disse: Aumentarão suas tristezas, pois correm atrás de outros deuses.
Não participarei dos seus sacrifícios de sangue,
e os meus lábios nem mencionarão os seus nomes.
5Senhor, tu és a minha porção e o meu cálice;
és tu que garantes o meu futuro.
6As divisas caíram para mim
em lugares agradáveis:
Tenho uma bela herança!
7Bendirei o Senhor, que me aconselha;
na escura noite o meu coração me ensina!
8Sempre tenho o Senhor diante de mim.
Com ele à minha direita, não serei abalado.
9Por isso o meu coração se alegra e no íntimo exulto;
mesmo o meu corpo repousará tranquilo,
10porque tu não me abandonarás no sepulcro16.10 Hebraico: Sheol. Essa palavra também pode ser traduzida por profundezas, pó ou morte.,
nem permitirás que o teu santo sofra decomposição.
11Tu me farás16.11 Ou fizeste conhecer a vereda da vida,
a alegria plena da tua presença,
