1I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.142.1 Maschil…: or, A Psalm of David, giving instruction
2I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
3When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

5I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
6Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
7Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

Давидова поучна песма, кад је био у пећини. Молитва.
1Гласом својим ја Господу вапим,
гласом својим ја Господа за милост преклињем.
2Жалопојку своју пред њега изливам,
муку своју њему образлажем.
3Када дух ми на измаку беше,
ти си знао стазу моју;
пут којим сам ишао,
на коме су ми замку поставили.
4Удесно погледај па види
да нико на ме не обраћа пажњу;
мени више уточишта нема,
нема никог да за мене мари.
5О, Господе, теби вапим! Говорим ти:
„Уточиште моје ти си
и наследство моје у земљи живих!“
6Јецај мој пажљиво почуј,
јер сам јадан преко сваке мере;
од тлачитеља ме ослободи,
јер за мене су прејаки.
7Душу моју из тамнице вади
па да хвалим име твоје;
па нека ме окруже праведни,
јер си мени благонаклон био!
